The IDF says the Iranians have developed a plan to destroy the State of Israel, by using widespread and precise fire from the entire Iranian axis, a ground invasion using pickup trucks from all borders, and undermining the regimes in Jordan and Egypt. “We are in a strategic window of opportunity. Israel begins preemptive strike against Iran, defense minister says; sirens wail across Israel

Defense Minister Israel Katz says he has declared an emergency situation across the country due to Israel’s action in Iran.

“Following the State of Israel’s preemptive strike against Iran, a missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate future,” Katz says.

He says he has signed “a special order, according to which a special state of emergency will be imposed in the home front throughout the entire State of Israel.”

“You must obey the instructions of the Home Front Command and the authorities and remain in the protected areas,” Katz adds

Initial reports of launches from Iran towards Israel. Sirens expected in a few minutes.

Iran’s Chief of Staff was likely eliminated.

The IDF issued this statement:

Dozens of IAF jets completed the first stage that included strikes on dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in different areas of Iran.

Today, Iran is closer than ever to obtaining a nuclear weapon. Weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Iranian regime are an existential threat to the State of Israel and to the wider world.

The State of Israel has no choice but to fulfill the obligation to act in defense of its citizens and will continue to do so everywhere it is required to do so, as we have done in the past.

Over at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue:

President Trump is holding a high-level cabinet meeting to coordinate with his administration regarding the recent strike in Iran.

Report: The strike in Iran was coordinated with the Trump administration.

A senior U.S. intelligence official says the U.S. provided real-time reconnaissance support to Israel before, during, and after the ongoing strikes—using secure channels to coordinate every step.

In addition to widespread airstrikes, the Mossad is reportedly conducting covert operations deep inside Iran.

The Mossad carried out a series of covert sabotage operations against Iranian air defenses and missile facilities in tandem with the widespread strikes at a number of locations across Iran.

“A senior Israeli official told me that other than airstrikes, the Israeli Mossad, the foreign intelligence agency, conducted several operations inside Iran against Iranian air defenses and against Iranian long-range missiles,” Axios reporter Barak Ravid tells CNN.

On X, Ravid describes them as “covert sabotage operations deep inside Iran.”

Dozens of targets across Iran related to the nuclear program, military facilities and military commanders have been struck by the Israeli Air Force. Israel is now bracing for the expected response from Tehran….. (ToI)

The headquarters of the IRGC and the Iranian army have been hit heavily. There is now a report from Iran that the head of IRGC has been eliminated along with the head of Iran’s atomic energy program.

The Israeli media is saying that because of the intelligence gathered by Israel about Iranian plans to attack with ballistic missiles and possible nuclear weapons, the US decided to green light the Israeli preemptive strike without participating directly in the Israeli attacks. America continues to distance itself from the Israeli operation as are Sunni Arab states in the region. (Mark Zell)

Over 240+ Israeli airstrikes against Iran so far, according to Yair Altman, Israeli military journalist for Channel 14.
