1.) Merchan (age 61) decided to place a gag order against President Trump, saying his statements induce fear and can cause harm – however, he’s allowed the other party to talk about Trump.
2.) Juan was born in Colombia, but came to the United States when he was six, having been raised by his family in New York, a predominantly Left-leaning state.
3.) Juan Merchan has presided over (and sometimes convicted) other pro-Trump voices, such as Allen Weisselberg and Steve Bannon.
4.) Judge Merchan donated to Democrats in the 2020 election, including Joe Biden, “Progressive Turnout Project”, and “Stop Republicans”.

5.) Loren Merchan, Juan’s daughter, is President of Authentic Campaigns, a left-leaning fundraising/advertising firm. She has worked for Joe Biden and Adam Schiff, both of whom heavily dislike President Trump.
6.) Although he’s made it clear that he and his family are biased against President Donald J. Trump, he’s refused to recuse himself from the case.
7.) He primarily oversees Manhattan’s mental health court, where he’s been described as “understanding” and “not too overbearing”.
8.) He’s definitely biased against Republicans, as they’re the opposition to his political standing, and has a history of not supporting Trump-affiliated individuals!
