Skarmahd’s daughter, Gazelle, spoke out on X, saying, “So let’s look at what they’re saying and what they have done to get their hostages out,” she stated. “Our world leader, our President Biden, was chilling at the beach this week while his VP was using the hostage family, the American hostage family, for her campaign trail on the DNC. And after Hamas executed him Hersh Goldberg-Polin, she made a phone call and was very sorry about that. But let’s look back at how the Biden-Harris administration has handled other American hostages; one, specifically: my dad, Jimmy Sharmahd, is an American and a German, and he’s been kidnapped, taken to Iran, held hostage there for four years, the entire time of this administration, and they haven’t done anything to bring him home.” “Neither President Biden nor his VP Harris have even talked to us or even mentioned my dad’s name, let alone done something for him.”

Germany Closes Three Iranian Embassies in Wake of Iran Kidnapping, Executing German Citizen
Politico: All Iranian consulates in Germany are to be closed following the execution of a German-Iranian dual citizen by Tehran, Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said Thursday. Jamshid Sharmahd, an opposition activist, was sentenced to death in 2020 by the regime in Tehran on terror charges. He was executed on Monday. “We have repeatedly made it clear to Iran that the execution of a German citizen will have serious consequences,” Baerbock told reporters. “I have therefore decided to close the three Iranian consulates general in Frankfurt am Main, Munich and Hamburg…”The Iranian embassy in Berlin, however, will remain open, as will the German embassy in Tehran. According to the official from the foreign office, Berlin does not want to completely sever diplomatic ties (Politico).
ADVERTISEMENTJerusalem Post: In 2023, Iranian authorities convicted Sharmahd of “corruption on earth” and sentenced him to death for his alleged role in leading a pro-monarchist group accused of orchestrating a 2008 bombing in Iran’s Fars province that killed 14 people and injured over 200. The announcement triggered widespread condemnation from German officials and international human rights organizations (Jerusalem Post).
