An Iraq war veteran named Scott Hayes of Framingham was violently attacked by a Hamas supporter during a pro-Israel protest. He was assaulted for exercising his First Amendment right to protest. Unfortunately, he has now been charged with violent assault with a dangerous weapon, despite only exercising his right to self-defense.
Scott Hayes, 47, was charged on Thursday after he shot a pro-terror activist who charged and tackled him during a protest in Newton, Mass.
So under Democrat rule, Muslims and leftists can wage their terror campaign of harassment and violence with impunity, but dare to defend yourself against such violence and you’ll find yourself behind bars. The destroyers, rioters, arsonists, and Jew beaters get off scot-free. Kamala promoted a bail fund for rioters that burned and looted cities that was also used to release murderers and rapists but supports these terrorists. That’s Democrat America.

The charges, announced Thursday night by Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan, include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violation of a constitutional right causing injury. Hayes will be arraigned in Newton District Court on Friday.
Scott Hayes is an American Iraq War Veteran, who was attacked at a pro-Israeli Protest, on September 12, 2024 in Newton, Massachusetts. As Scott was about to leave, a young man wearing a Palestinian flag pin started shouting from the other side of the street to Scott and other protests in the area. This person suddenly ran across the street, charged Scott, attacked him, and tackled him the ground. Scott was wrestling with him when his gun went off. As soon as Scott noticed his assailant was hurt, he provided emergency medical treatment. Please help Scott, his family, and his community in their time of need.

We need to come together and fight back against this unacceptable overreach and blatant violation of his right to self-defense. What was he supposed to do—just let this guy kill him? You can see the attack in the video below. pic.twitter.com/tP4xKgY29a

Seconds later, the gun was allegedly discharged and the assailant was shot in the stomach while the two were on the ground.
As can be seen in the video, Hayes then placed the gun on the ground behind him and the other protesters broke the two apart. Hayes then told the bystanders to call 911, and performed first aid on the man’s wounds.
Hayes has since been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violation of a constitutional right causing injury, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan.In a press conference, Ryan said it was very early in the investigation. “That individual at some point began crossing the street, ultimately came across and jumped upon one of the demonstrators. A scuffle ensued, and during that scuffle the individual was shot.”
Hayes will be arraigned on Saturday, Ryan added.Ryan also confirmed that the assailant received life-threatening wounds and is being treated at a local hospital.
The police chief George McMains stated that the district would be providing additional security at places of worship in the coming days.
Newton Mayor Ruthanne Fuller called it a “frightening incident” and asked the public to let the police “get the facts straight.”
