There is a very serious matter involving hate speech from a member of a Maryland state commission.
On or about August 3, 2023, Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown appointed several members of faith-based organizations to the newly formed Maryland Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention. He is the Chair of this commission. CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad recently declared he was ‘happy to see’ Oct. 7 Hamas atrocities.
Attorney General Brown appointed Ms. Zainab Chaudry of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to represent the Muslim community on this commission. Ms. Chaudry’s organization, CAIR, has a long history of having significant ties to terrorism and anti-semites as recently documented by The Investigative Project on Terrorism. CAIR’s Executive Director praised the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre.

Recently, Ms. Chaudry has been writing some very disturbing posts on her facebook page. Maligning Israel and the Jewish people has become a daily occurrence for her.
Attached are screenshots of some of her alarming posts on this email for your review which include comparing Israelis to Nazis and praising Hamas’ “martyrdom operations.”

Jewish Insider and Fox News were one of the first publications to break this story.
She was suspended temporarily by Attorney General Brown but has since been reinstated to her position after a measly two week suspension.
For what it is worth, Chaudry has never once apologized for her pro-Hamas posts and she continues to malign Israel on her facebook page accusing them of genocide and war crimes.
As President Biden’s Envoy to combat anti-Semitism, Deborah Lipstadt, stated so eloquently at the March for Israel rally last month, “when protestors chant ‘Peace and glory to the martyrs,’ that incites more hatred, more deaths.” Chaudry, by Lipstadt’s definition, is a flagrant anti-Semite.
Unfortunately, other than a few state delegates mostly Republican, not one prominent politician in Maryland or anywhere else has condemned Chaudry’s anti-semitism.As you can imagine, the Jewish community is horrified that anti-Semitism has been mainstreamed in Maryland now that Chaudry is permitted to retain her seat while continuing to spew vicious hatred of Israel and the Jewish people on a daily basis.
It should concern all Marylanders and all Americans that this kind of person and this kind of an organization has a seat on this commission which has now been rendered useless given Chaudry’s reinstatement. Indeed, it is quite ironic that a person appointed to prevent hate crimes is engaging in conduct which could increase hate crimes. Since CAIR has permanent status on this commission by statute unless otherwise repealed or amended, they apparently have immunity to spew anti-Semitic rhetoric without any consequences.
Chaudry‘s anti-semitism must be condemned and Attorney General Brown should not hold any meetings with this commission until Chaudry can be legally removed from the commission. The commission is set to meet again on December 13 with Chaudry present for the meeting. Time is of the essence. If the meeting proceeds with Chaudry present, it will send a devastating message that anti-Semitism is acceptable.
