The federal judge assigned the January 6 case against former President Donald Trump was appointed by former President Barack Obama, who also happens to be an Obama donor.
Appointed in 2014 to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by Obama, Judge Tanya Chutkan has been known to give some of the harshest sentences for January 6 defendants, with some even going beyond government recommendations.
“The Trump case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan. Chutkan, an Obama appointee, is the only federal judge in Washington, D.C. who has sentenced Jan. 6 defendants to sentences longer than the government had requested,” noted MSNBC’s Kyle Griffin.

In 2021, Chutkan ruled hundreds of pages of the former president’s White House records could be turned over to the January 6 investigating committee despite Trump’s objections.
“The court holds that the public interest lies in permitting—not enjoining—the combined will of the legislative and executive branches to study the events that led to and occurred on January 6, and to consider legislation to prevent such events from ever occurring again,” Chutkan wrote.
According to Open Secrets, Chutkan also donated to the 2008 and 2012 political campaigns of Barack Obama.
As Breitbart News reported, special prosecutor Jack Smith announced that a grand jury indicted former President Trump for a third time this week on charges related to January 6.
“The indictment was announced the day after President Joe Biden had been implicated in a long-running influence peddling scheme by his son Hunter’s former business partner, Devon Archer, in testimony before the House Oversight Committee,” it reported. “Trump was indicted on four counts: one on conspiracy to defraud the U.S.; one on conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding; one of obstruction and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding; and one of conspiracy against rights.”
“The indictment does not indicate how prosecutors were able to establish what Trump himself believed, other than the fact that he had been informed by others that his suspicions of fraud were false; nor does it distinguish the case from the ‘Russia collusion’ hoax spread by Trump’s opponents, including within the Department of Justice, after he won the 2016 presidential election,” it continued.

You were expecting a fair trial, perhaps? Planning on waiting for the Great Pumpkin, too?
There’s really no need to even undergo the farce of a trial as the decision has already been made. The only reason to go through the charade is so the judge and the jurors can get their 15 minutes of fame by going on CNN to vent on what a rotten person Trump is.
Once they get him behind bars, he’s Dead Man Walking. I don’t care what kind of security that Trump has. It won’t be enough.
He has to protect himself and his family and Get The Hell Out of Dodge while he still can. The former USA is like a small town totally run by the Mafia.
How can Trump get justice in that environment? He can’t.

To all you guys who think that I’m totally full of crap. I truly hope that you are all correct.
I’ve been watching the Resistance attacking Trump from the day of his election and all I see is their blood lust. They will not rest until he and all of his supporters have been silenced, in other words have been executed.
Where does he go next? I literally don’t know. Countries that I considered to be candidates, like New Zealand, are even worse than we are.
Fortunately, Trump has enough resources to negotiate a safe location (no extradition agreement with the US in place, a defensible location guarded with t0ns of ground to air missiles, etc.).
Martyrdom is greatly over-rated. Why not let Trump live out his remaining years in peace and safety?

Trump stands for a lot of principles that conservatives love, but these indictments and coming trials gives him an entire new audience. and a huge new pool of supporters, which is anyone who has ever felt aggrieved by government power. Many understand that not only can they indict a former President and current front runner but anyone else that gets in their way. This is bringing a lot of hidden, somewhat apathetic and disgruntled new voters into the MAGA fold. Sununu, Christie, Halley have never been targeted by the government. They are in the minority. And, if you have no grievances, I can assure you have a family member who has been targeted. It is to this audience that Trump is speaking. These people,many of which will be new voters,are not necessarily MAGA and may oppose someMAGA goals. These are the people that want revenge against the government and voting for Trump is their revenge. Trump has said he’s going to fire the swamp, the DOJ. the FBI. reign in the IRS. There is a huge audience listening. I see an election made up of most Republicans, all of MAGA, and a Coalition of the Aggrieved. If Trump pulls it off he will have to satisfy this new group, fulfill his promises, and the worst fears of the Left may just come true. As for me I don’t know if I’ll be there with my knitting needles or releasing a lever on the guillotine. The resulting chaos will await the emergence of an American Bonaparte. I’m afraid the Republic is dead.

Habeas Corpus would be an interesting response. It would go straight to SCOTUS with an action to remove the suit to a more neutral venue for action. The action would be addressed as an answer to election interference, with the timing 30 months after the fact, presented as evidence of abuse of the legal system
