So here’s what Capitol police did.

They gave FBI footage from 8 hour time period but gave full 24-hour trove to Congress. That must be what Tucker’s team has.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has reportedly handed over to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson access to over 40,000 hours of surveillance footage from the January 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot.

According to Axios, producers for Carlson were on Capitol Hill last week, and began digging through the 41,000 hours of footage captured that day, which includes multiple camera angles across Capitol grounds.

The outlet stated that excerpts of the footage will begin airing in the coming weeks.

Carlson told Axios “[T]here was never any legitimate reason for this footage to remain secret.”

“If there was ever a question that’s in the public’s interest to know, it’s what actually happened on January 6. By definition, this video will reveal it. It’s impossible for me to understand why any honest person would be bothered by that.”

A communication between Carlson’s show and a McCarthy representative, seen by Axios, revealed that the process began early in February.

According to the Washington Times, McCarthy said in January that he was willing to make the unreleased security footage public.

“I want to be very thoughtful about it, but yes,” McCarthy said at a presser.

“I think the public should see what happened on that day. I watched what [then-House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi did, where she politicized it. For the first time in the history as a speaker, not allowing the minority to appoint to a committee,” he told reporters. “We watched the politicization of this. I think the American public should actually see what happened instead of a report that’s written on a political basis.”

In August, a group of House Republicans demanded that the US Capitol Police release all footage from the day to allow for fair trials in the cases of the over 700 people arrested in connection to the day.

In a letter sent to Capitol Police Board Chairman William J. Walker, 23 lawmakers said the release of the footage “is absolutely essential to proper governance and truth.”

“The fact that these tapes have not been released, I think, is just a huge blot on the Department of Justice,” Louie Gohmert told The Washington Times. “It’s just outrageous to the American justice system that they’re not being required to make the videos available.”

In response to the move, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on Twitter, “For all of you that doubted we would release the tapes. Here you go!”

We are releasing the J6 tapes and not one single lying grifter on social media had anything to do with it.

Greene added from her personal account, “We are releasing the J6 tapes and not one single lying grifter on social media had anything to do with it. I told you we would all along.”
