The FBI has broken up a plot to massacre Shi’ite worshipers in Chicago.
The perpetrators are aged 18, 17, and 15. They also appear to be Muslims inspired by ISIS. FBI agent Garrett E. Drew wrote that one of the juveniles said he want to be a “shaheed.” The FBI has confiscated firecrackers bundled together with staples, pins, and other sharp objects serving as shrapnel.
Additionally,
“Agents from Chicago FBI seized multiple firearms, including a Remington pump shotgun, swords, knives, a bow and arrows, multiple homemade ISIS flags.” https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21524620-pelkey-detention-declaration
WLS in Chicago reports that law enforcement is investigating additional persons of interest.
But now the Council on American Islamic Relations is speaking out, calling for a hate crime investigation, fretting about bullying, and reminding us that Muslims are the biggest victims of ISIS.
Of course, CAIR has nothing to do with Xavier Pelkey. But if they are looking for something to do, how about explaining what happened in Colleyville, Texas last January?
The hostage crisis in Colleyville was a major international news story carried live on social media and broadcast TV. It lasted for two days. Jews were the target. It was a hate crime. Someone died. It really happened.
And it happened against a backdrop of CAIR’s very intense campaign to free Aafia Siddiqui.
- Has CAIR had a discussion about their possible role in inspiring the terrorist incident last January?
- Did CAIR talk to the speakers who were inciting the public, saying that Muslims haven’t done enough, that the prophet was disappointed in them, and that Aafia Siddiqui was a victim in “America’s war of terror on Muslims?”
- Has CAIR found out if Malik Akram had a Twitter account, and was he reading CAIR’s “#FreeAafia” tweets?
- Did CAIR know that the primary social influencer (@MajidN88) in their Twitter campaign was also tweeting that Israel was a “criminal terrorist organization”?
- Is CAIR still trying to free Siddiqui? Are they still partnering with the pro-Taliban Aafia Foundation?
There is no reason for CAIR to be on TV over the Xavier Pelkey case when questions like these continue to swirl around them.
Maine teen recruited 2 others to help commit ‘mass murder’ at Chicago area mosque: feds
Hand-painted ISIS flags found in 18-year-old Xavier Pelkey’s bedroom, court documents show
CHICAGO (WLS) — New details about an alleged plot to attack Chicago-area houses of worship have been unveiled in newly-unsealed court documents.
A Maine teen was arrested in February after homemade explosives were found in his home. The unsealed documents reveal what federal prosecutors say was a plan for three teenagers to commit mass murder at a mosque in the Chicago area, all in the name of ISIS.
Hand-painted ISIS flags were found in 18-year-old Xavier Pelkey’s bedroom in his apartment in Maine last month, where authorities say he was hatching a disturbing plan to target a Shi’a Muslim mosque in the Chicago area with the help of two other teenagers.
ADVERTISEMENTNewly unsealed federal documents reveal Pelkey recruited a 17-year-old boy from Kentucky and a 15-year-old boy from Chicago through Instagram.
The three were allegedly planning to go to an area mosque in late March during spring break and commit “mass murder,” all in the name of ISIS.
Federal prosecutors said they planned to continue going to other mosques and synagogues until they were eventually killed by law enforcement.
Along with those ISIS flags, agents also discovered handmade bombs, with Pelkey telling agents he wanted to make a “bigger boom.”
Saadia Pervaiz, with CAIR-Chicago, condemned what she’s calling an act of hate.
“They should be charged with hate crimes,” Pervaiz said. “They were targeting Muslims. They were targeting Jewish people, and I think it’s important that they are held accountable for these actions.”
This case is still ongoing. Federal prosecutors said the investigation spans “several districts” and more persons of interest are being identified.
