Terror-Linked CAIR Board Member Appointed To Bench In New Jersey

It should be fundamental that anyone serving a terror-tied group should be exempt from judicial appointments. But in Democrat America, they are elevated to frightening positions of power.

Nadia Kahf is receiving notoriety for being one of the first hijab-wearing New Jersey State Superior Court judges.

Reports also say she has been the board chair of the New Jersey branch of the Council on American Islamic Relations for 20 years: https://cair-nj.org/our-board/

Here are some of the CAIR actions in New Jersey that took place while Ms. Kahf was board chair:

  • CAIR got on TV four different times to call for the termination of an elementary school teacher while she was under police protection.
  • CAIR turned the town of Toms River against Dan Leonard for mocking and scoffing at Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib. The Toms River school board members and staff were inundated with threats and vile language over the phone. Rape threats targeted Dan Leonard’s underage daughter, but CAIR never said anything to calm things down.

Nationally, we do not have to imagine how CAIR would react to the appointment of such a person as Nadia Kahf if the politics were different. Here is CAIR going on the warpath against Coffee County DA Craig Northcott.

Finally, both CAIR and the media have yet to contend with the fact that CAIR inspired a terrorist incident in Colleyville, Texas. Here NBC’s Scott Friedman tells us that there were rallies outside the prison holding Aafia Siddiqui, and that there was an increase in “chatter” before Malik Faisal Akram took hostages. Both of these activities were CAIR’s doing. The TV station knew this, but did not share that information with the public.

And now we have a CAIR member appointed to the Superior Court bench in New Jersey, reported as if this were something good. Unless you start complaining, CAIR will eventually interfere in your personal life to a degree you would not have thought possible.

Nadia Kahf, a family law attorney from Wayne, is poised to become one of just a handful of Muslim women to serve as a state Superior Court judge in New Jersey, after Gov. Phil Murphy nominated her earlier this week.

Kahf, part of a diverse slate of 15 nominees announced Monday, would serve in Passaic County if confirmed by state legislators.

“I’m overwhelmed and very happy and very honored as well,” said Kahf, 50, in an interview. “I’m happy the bench is going to reflect the residents of New Jersey and that we are moving toward that.”

At her law practice in Haledon, Kahf specializes in family law and has worked on immigration cases. Since 2003, she has served on the board of the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights organization, and she is the chairwoman.

She is also chairwoman of the Islamic Center of Passaic County, one of the largest mosques in the state, with campuses in Paterson and Clifton. Kahf, who came to the U.S. from Syria at age 2, is the legal adviser to Wafa House, a nonprofit domestic violence and social services agency based in Clifton.

Kahf would be the first hijab-wearing state judge, but not the first Muslim. Two Muslim women, Sharifa Salaam and Kalimah Ahmad, serve as Superior Court judges in Essex and Hudson counties, respectively. Judge Sohail Mohammed serves in Passaic County. Hany Mawla, a former Superior Court judge, now presides in the Appellate Division.

Murphy also nominated Rahat Babar, a former deputy attorney general who oversees litigation for the governor’s office, for a seat on the Superior Court in Mercer County. Babar, who is Muslim, is a former director of community engagement at the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and past president of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania.

Kahf and Babar are nominated at a time when Muslim American leadership is growing in areas including politics, medicine and education in a state where 3% of the population identifies as Muslim.

Shama Haider, of Tenafly, and Sadaf Jaffer, of Montgomery Township, were elected to the New Jersey Assembly in the November election, becoming the first Muslims to serve in the state Legislature. The two women were among more than 35 Muslims who ran for office across New Jersey in state and local races.

In June, New Jersey Magistrate Judge Zahid Quraishi was sworn in as a U.S. district judge for the District of New Jersey, becoming the first Muslim to serve on the federal bench.
