Elementary school teacher pulled hoodie, not hijab

The story of a teacher forcibly removing the hijab of a 2nd grade student in class has reached as far as Indonesia.

But what the media is not reporting is that the teacher was reacting to the student wearing a hoodie in class.

Attorney Samantha Harris, who represents the elementary school teacher, released a statement in response to the allegations:

“This is not a story about a teacher who forcibly removed a student’s hijab. This is a story about social media, misinformation, and what happens when people publicize rumors without any knowledge of or regard for the truth. (The teacher) did not, as has been alleged, forcibly remove a student’s hijab or tell a student that she should not have to wear a hijab. In accordance with school policy, (the teacher) directed a student in her class to pull down the hood on what appeared to be a hooded sweatshirt because it was blocking her eyes – and* immediately rescinded that request when she realized that the student was wearing the hood in place of, rather than on top of, her usual hijab*. The misinformation shared on social media has caused tremendous harm to (the teacher) – a teacher who, after more than 30 years of devoting her heart and soul to children of all backgrounds, has now had to ask for police protection due to the threats she is receiving following the dissemination of false information on social media.” – https://abc7ny.com/amp/teacher-rips-hijab-off-girls-head-removed-second-grade-student-maplewood/11099813/

The investigation is still ongoing. But, if it is found that this was a misunderstanding exploited by CAIR to incite Muslims against an individual, then there really should be consequences for the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights organization.

The attorney is right, but it is also a story about CAIR. Because there are just too many examples of CAIR trying to hurt an individual. And a moratorium on TV broadcasts about CAIR is in order.

There is no public interest served by having news broadcasts about CAIR and: fingers, PizzaHut, Hmong people, Confederate flags, Civil War monuments, Black Lives Matter, the 1619 Project, the Atlanta Spa Shootings, the Capitol riots, Derek Chauvin, white people, Jewish misfortunes, Facebook comments, the KKK, Nazis, George Floyd, nooses, misspelled Starbucks cups, Christopher Columbus, ICE raids, graffiti, swastikas, etc.

This copy of CAIR’s attempt to have a Minneapolis Starbucks barista fired had over a thousand views in Saudi Arabia. CAIR was intending to create an international incident over this.

Simply go to the press releases section of CAIR’s website, and count how many releases are about things that have nothing to do with CAIR. In any given time frame, it may be that over 40% of CAIR’s press releases are about things that have nothing to do with the group.

In their most recent hate report, CAIR claims to have handled over 6,000 civil rights cases. But, according to this tally, only 7 out of 100 CAIR press releases deal with American Muslims civil rights issues.

CAIR does not speak for “the Muslims.”

A 2011 Gallup poll found only 12% of American Muslims think CAIR represents them. In June 2007, the Washington Times reported that CAIR membership had plummeted 90 percent since 2001.

“This is the untold story in the myth that CAIR represents the American Muslim population,” Zuhdi Jasser, president of the American-Islamic Forum for Democracy, told the Times. “They only represent their membership and donors.”

While CAIR originally disputed the Times report, its attorneys later invoked it to claim that its status as an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas-support case was hurting the group’s image.

CAIR is not “the Muslims.” They are an amateurish, self-promoting organization that harasses Muslim women at work. This is not going to ingratiate them with anybody.

Recently, CAIR held a march sponsored by over 130 different organizations. Only about 1,000 people showed up. https://www.meforum.org/62474/an-islamist-flop

There are several cases, and numerous broadcasts where CAIR has offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of someone who hurt a Muslim. No one ever steps up to claim it. https://youtu.be/WTHJQSqeB-E?t=80

According to Guidestar, CAIR had a media analyst appraise their access to the media at $143 million, and that is just one year. [Look under What have they accomplished so far and what’s next?]

There is just no two ways about it. CAIR is on TV way too much, and they are using their astonishing media access to hurt people.

People and things including these should be household names: Bill Larion, Dan Leonard, Sharon Dickson, Gregory Calvert, Joe Ricketts, Westowne Elementary School, and now Tamar Herman.
