Daybreak Insider: The hearing underscored that the President acted against the advice of the military in yanking the residual U.S. force from the country. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley and Gen. Kenneth McKenzie both made clear in their testimony that they recommended that about 2,500 U.S. troops stay in Afghanistan to delay a Taliban takeover (WSJ). Katie Pavlich reminds us “During an interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos in August, as the chaotic withdrawal from the country was underway, President Joe Biden claimed he was never given advice to keep a small, residual force of U.S. troops in the country. “No one said that to me that I can recall,” Biden said. “No they didn’t” (Townhall). From Senator Tom Cotton: President Biden said that no one warned him about the risks of his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. That was a lie (Twitter). From Kevin McCarthy: Someone is lying. Either President Biden ignored the advice of his top military advisors and lied to shift blame for his disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal—or those advisors lied to Congress under oath (Twitter). From Retired Army Infantry Captain Sean Parnell on Biden: …he intended to lie and deceive the American people from day one on Afghanistan (Fox News).
