N.J. man who posted online about bombing Trump Tower admits hiding support for Hamas terror group

By: Cassidy Grom,  – NJ Advance Media Group -September 21, 2020 Kevin Shea:

A Basking Ridge man admitted Tuesday to concealing his efforts at providing material support for Hamas, a Palestinian group considered a terrorist organization by United States, federal authorities announced.

Story continues below advertisement

Jonathan Xie, 21, pleaded guilty by videoconference in U.S. District Court in Trenton to a count of concealing attempts to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, the U.S. Attorney’s office in New Jersey announced with the FBI.

He was charged last year with five federal crimes, including attempting to provide support to a designated terrorist group, making false statements related to international and domestic terrorism and transmitting threats.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced in January 2021.

In May 2019, federal investigators described Xie in court papers as having been radicalized online for the previous year, since graduating high school.

His social media showed at times a teen who worked at a store and was in his high school’s marching band, but also fixated on joining Hamas, although he had no obvious cultural or religious ties to the Middle East.

In December 2018, authorities said, Xie sent $100 to an individual in Gaza who he believed to be a member of the Al-Qassam Brigades, a faction of Hamas. Then he posted on Instagram: “Just donated $100 to Hamas. Pretty sure it was illegal but I don’t give a damn.”

He also expressed a desire to bomb Trump Tower and the Israeli embassy in New York City, federal authorities say. FBI surveillance observed Xie outside of Trump Tower in April 2019 and he later posted on Instagram, “I want to bomb Trump Tower.”

In another post online, in April 2019, Xie appeared in a live video and displayed a Hamas flag and a handgun. He told the viewers, “I’m gonna go to the [expletive] pro-Israel march and I’m going to shoot everybody,” authorities say.

Xie faces up to 10 years in prison for the charge.

Hezbollah munitions depot, huge explosion in southern Lebanon this morning, about 7 mortalities, about, 3 injured. These are so common now in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran that I can’t report them all. Obviously, things are heating up in Iran-related conflicts. This one was important because someone is systematically degrading the capacity of Iran and it’s proxies to wage war against Israel and the Arabs. Hezbollah has about 180,000 missiles aimed at Israel, mostly hidden in buildings like this one.. The big explosion in Beirut last month now seems like it was a deliberate destruction of Hezbollah munitions.comment image

The explosion location, marked in red, as we look eastward, from Sidon and the Mediterranean. The grey areas are all habitations, scattered around rough hills. Excellent terrain for Hezbollah. Israel will probably have to surround, isolate, and starve them out when the next war starts. Hezbollah will have to be defeated and deported to achieve peace. Much like the conflict with ISIS.

Israel has invaded Lebanon twice before and the results were not pleasing although they stopped terrorist attacks in Northern Israel (once to push back the PLO) temporarily.

HUGE fire at a ‘dairy’ in Tehran today… yeah right, the milk caught fire and burned for hours with immense clouds of smoke that looked like burning rocket fuel. That was a ‘dairy’ all right. Iran hides military equipment everywhere.

Today in Lebanon Sept 22:
– Fire at the port in Tripoli, northern Lebanon
– Fire at a warehouse in southern Beirut, possible Hezbollah munitions
– Big explosion at Hezbollah munitions depot in Ain Qana, south Lebanon, that I described above
– too much to keep up with.

I’ve read some speculation that the sabotage across Iran may be the work of Mossad operatives. If so, more power to them.

Although the Israelis may be supporting them, the explosions are more likely to be coming from the internal movement fed up with the rule of the mullahs.

You know, that’s great, but what’s their position on anyone who criticises their pedophile prophet for profit or the fact their holey books are chock full of rabid Jew hate or that their religion is fascist? The SS killed off the SA but who cares, neither of them were the good guys. The enemy of your enemy in the muslum world is no friend to the kafir — as has been proven time and time and time and time and time again.

Is it still capable of being put back into service? Those 16″ cannon are the ultimate in artillery weaponry, but I’m not sure if the specialized ammunition for those cannon are even manufactured anymore? Or the powder bags for that matter…

CharlieSeattle

Funny you should ask.

On 8 February 1984, New Jersey fired almost 300 shells at Druze and Shi’ite positions in the hills overlooking Beirut. Some 30 of these massive projectiles rained down on a Syrian command post in the Bekaa Valley east of Beirut, killing the general commanding Syrian forces in Lebanon and several other senior officers. This was the heaviest shore bombardment since the Korean War.

The powder bags used the last time to shell the Beqaa Valley Valley in Lebanon were Korean War vintage some were weak. Shells fell well short at first with nasty results.

LEBANON EXPERIENCES SPUR NAVY TO IMPROVE BATTLESHIP ACCURACY
By Wayne Biddle, Special To the New York Times
June 3, 1985

A recent study by the General Accounting Office, an investigative arm of Congress, concluded that although the battleship New Jersey accomplished her 1983 mission off Lebanon by silencing the fire of the Syrian-backed forces near Beirut, the accuracy of her 16-inch guns was less than desired. A researcher for the Congressional agency, speaking on condition that he not be identified, said the problem arose largely from the use of powder dating to the Korean War.

The Navy said some of the money from its gunnery program would be used to improve the bags of powder that propel the 2,000-pound shells.

https://www.nytimes.com/1985/06/03/us/lebanon-experiences-spur-navy-to-improve-battleship-accuracy.html

A Congressional source who received the General Accounting Office’s briefing said the New Jersey’s crew improved accuracy off Lebanon by selecting powder charges that had not chemically deteriorated. After the powder change, the gunfire was 10 times closer to the target, he said.

Thanks for an interesting read. I never even knew the New Jersey was used off the coast of Beirut against Hezbollah or PLO forces I’m assuming.

What about the cannon shells themselves? Don’t the explosives used in those deteriorate over time?

CharlieSeattle
CharlieSeattle

…deteriorate over time? Ya, I would think so. By how much, I dunno.

In another article I read, many high ranking Iranian, Hamas/Hezzzzzbolah/ PLO, …whatever… and Russian military advisors were killed in the shelling, once the ranging issue was fixed to miss the civilian areas they hit first.

On May 25, 1953, the United States Army conducted a live nuclear artillery test shot.

Conducted in the Nevada desert (Nevada Test Site, later renamed the Nevada National Security Site) the test firing and detonation of a live nuclear (fission type) bomb fired from a cannon was called by the code-word Upshot-Knothole Grable. One of only 4 “gun” type atom bombs ever detonated by the US, the warhead was constructed similar to the “Little Boy” bomb that obliterated Hiroshima in 1945. It used 2 chunks of uranium at separate ends of a pipe like “gun” that were forced together at high speed and pressure by an explosive charge, creating a critical mass and resulting in the nuclear explosion. Yield of the artillery fired shell was 15 kilotons, about the same as the Hiroshima bomb.

Considering that the 11 inch bore cannon (280 mm) could only lob the shell 11,000 yards (6.25 miles) this made the blast a bit close for comfort for the gun crew. Since presumably the M65 Atomic Cannon, nicknamed “Atomic Annie,” would not be the forward-most US troops and equipment, this means friendly troops would be even closer to the blast if the weapon was used in battle. The test shot was detonated about 524 feet above ground level, lower than nukes were usually detonated at that time. The nearness to the ground resulted in a sort of double wave pressure effect that caused a rethinking of employment of nuclear warheads.

It’s true he isn’t the perfect president. I think the last POTUS who tried to actually DO something about illegal aliens was Eisenhower. Trump’s not perfect, but just think how much worse it would’ve been under Shillariah C-l-1-n-t-0-n and her whoremongering husband. If Biden wins, things will be taking a sharp turn for the worse.

You won’t get through to these people.

Trump has been put through the meat grinder. Name a way they didn’t try to unseat him. It’s a miracle he got the wall up and able to cut down on illegals, stop the caravans, get creative and keep illegals in Mexico and cut back on refugess but they don’t want to hear that.

You’d think the mess was all Trump’s fault and it isn’t. He inherited the mess and had NO SUPPORT from the GOP or the DEMS in straightening it out. I get tired of hearing them complain about it. Trump didn’t create the mess.

Our immigration mess started in the 1960s and picked up steam – cheap labor educated and non educated as well as unskilled. No one tried to change it and suddenly Trump is supposed to wave a magic wand and make it all go away and stop with no support – LOL!

DACA and “the wall” aside, there are many things that the president could have done to enforce existing immigration law. The number of illegal aliens that were simply given a pass … that’s beyond the pale.

Any, repeat ANY illegall alien should be arrested and promptly deported.

The law was on the president’s side. The morality (Executive Branch performing its duties) was on his side.

However, Left Wingnut Regressive opinion was against the president NOT doing his duty.

And, it seems as if the president put listening to the opinions of Left Wingnut Regressives over duty.

But, anyone with more than half of a brain HAS to vote for President Trump’s reelection.

If not, look at Chitcongo, Deetroit, Saint Loowee …. that’s the face of what America will become, if he is not reelected.

He had no support for getting rid of them. He was trying to leverage DACA to get immigration reform based on MERIT. It doesn’t take a genuis to understand that. He did end DAPA but DACA was when it traveled through the courts. Constantly ignoring that doesn’t change the conditions Trump had to work with.

He fought for the wall and that is being completed. That was another court fight. Be grateful he got anything done. His onw party isn’t on his side. Trump does what he can. It’s a far cry better than anyone else has done and that includes the GOP! Surely you understand by now, the SWAMP hates Trump and all he stands for.

The Cuban concerns me on immigration….

I am becoming more and more concerned on this Amy Barrett Supreme Court Judge possibility…

Amy Barrett is a major SOCIAL LIBERAL! She is beginning to remind me of Angelina Jolie and Madonna collecting kids to raise from other countries. Why not adopt U.S. kids? She will probably side with ILLEGALS and be LIBERAL on immigration issues!

Amy Barrett and her husband, Jesse, who is a federal prosecutor, have seven children together. Two of their children were born in Haiti, and they are also raising a special needs child. The children ranged in age from 5 to 16 when Barrett introduced them during her nomination hearing to the federal bench.

Amy Coney Barrett’s husband, Jesse M. Barrett, is an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, according to The Commercial Appeal.

During her confirmation hearing, Barrett said that her husband “serves our country” as an assistant United States Attorney in the northern district of Indiana and added, “I hit the jackpot when I married Jesse. We have been married 18 years with each year better than the last. Jesse and I have seven children.”

The more I read about Amy Barrett, the more concerned I get. She is part of this weird cult – People of Praise. They inspired the Handmaiden’s Tale. She is a life long member. Ten members of her family belong to the group. That includes her mother and father. Her father serves on the group’s board. It started in 1971 with 29 members and has over 2,000 members today.

People of Praise also touted its openness to all political views on its website.
(It’s like a tolerant utopia cult.)

‘We strive to be one of those rare places in 21st-century life where men and women with a wide variety of political and religious views can live together in harmony,’ said the group.

Amy’s mother and father – part of the cult – her mother was a “handmaid”.comment image

Coney Barrett has five sisters, of whom three are known to be closely involved in People of Praise, including Carrie Coney Urbanski, 42, and her husband Matt, 45. Other Members of Matt’s family are also in People of Praise.

It’s a weird cult. Now I understand why she was being questioned on this. It’s not about her Catholicism. Others who are not Catholics also belong to it and many from Notre Dame have left it and some are still in t. More here – https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5923255/Trumps-female-Supreme-Court-favorite-belongs-group-helped-inspire-Handmaids-Tale.htmlcomment image

Siblings: Eileen Coney Timler, 38, and her husband John Timler, 43, are members of People of Praise, as are members of his familycomment image

Youngest sister: Vivian Coney Orthmann, 34, Amy Coney Barrett’s youngest sister, and her husband David Orthmann, are members of People of Praise and live in the Pacific northwest. His family are also memberscomment image

From the Daily Wire:

A false article published Monday by Newsweek has spawned a series of articles repeating a false claim about Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a potential Trump pick to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Newsweek originally claimed that a charismatic Catholic group called People of Praise, which Barrett is reportedly a member of, inspired the dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood. Newsweek later corrected the article, admitting “the book’s author, Margaret Atwood, has never specifically mentioned the group as being the inspiration for her work.”
