Party of science? Dems far more likely than GOP to reject or be unaware of COVID-19 mortality rate
New estimates released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that COVID-19 may have an infection fatality rate as low as 0.26%.

Story continues below advertisementDemocrats, who often portray themselves as the “pro-science” party, are far more likely than Republicans to reject or be unaware of new data from public health officials showing that people who get the coronavirus are far less likely to die than previously thought, according to a new Just the News Daily Poll with Scott Rasmussen.
New estimates released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that COVID-19 may have an infection fatality rate as low as 0.26%, a number that is double the seasonal flu but significantly lower than earlier estimates.
Determining the infection fatality rate of the illness has been a critical goal of scientists around the world since the discovery of the disease in late November. Infectious disease experts were shocked at the end of last year and into 2020 at how quickly the disease spread and how many of those who became ill ultimately died.
The Just the News poll found that only half the nation (48%) knows that the fatality rate from the coronavirus is lower than originally thought. Twenty-five percent (25%) believe it’s not true while 27% are not sure.
Among Democrats, awareness was evenly divided between those who thought, correctly, it was true (34%) that the fatality rate was lower than originally thought and those who thought it was false (35%).
Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans are aware of the good news about survivability. That falls to 43% among Independents (of who 26% believe it is false).
“It’s impossible to know whether this partisan dynamic stems from different news sources or some other reason,” Rasmussen said. “Perhaps some reject it simply because the lower fatality rate contradicts their pre-existing expectations or what they are seeing in their own community. However, it is clear that this difference has an impact on what should come next.”
By a 65% to 31% margin, those who know of the lower fatality rate are more worried about the economic threat to the nation rather than the health threat. As for those who mistakenly believe the fatality rate is not lower, they take the opposite view. By a 61% to 33% margin, they are more worried about the health threat.
Just the News Daily Poll respondents were asked “Is the following statement true or false? The latest data from public health officials shows that people who get the coronavirus are far less likely to die than previously thought.” They replied as below:
- 48% True
- 25% False
- 27% Not Sure
The national survey of 1,200 registered voters was conducted May 21-23, 2020 by Rasmussen, a polling veteran. Margin of sampling error: +/- 2.8% for full sample.

They turned a day to honor the fallen into a political statement using the race card. Felix, I agree. Democrats portray themselves as the “pro-science” party, because they are against the Jewish and Christian religions. So they are weaponizing science against religion. But that just creates more logical inconsistency and hypocrisy. It’s not logically possible to be pro-dogma, and pro-science at the same time. Science is the polar opposite of dogma.

Consider this. From prior experiences, the human species knows far more about viral pandemics and their impact on societies then its does about global warming. Despite this knowledge base, the worldwide response to Covid19 has been scattershot and incompetent. Out of the over 350,000 worldwide deaths, aprox half inflicted the old and sick, many trapped in nursing home facilities. The greatest minds on the planet were ill-prepared, and had no plan to protect the most vulnerable in society.
These are the same “visionaries” who think they can enact a grand plan to slow down the effects of global warming. If anyone is stupid and mindless enough to believe that fantasy, I have a bridge in NY harbor I’d like to sell you.
Our species has always produced an elitist class that thinks it knows what’s best for everyone. Newsflash: they never have, they don’t today, and they never will. To the contrary, elitists always work for their own benefit, at the expense of everyone else.
Today’s elitists in govt, academia, and business are all globalists, promoting borderless free-trade. It must be emphasized and driven into the public’s heads that many more people perished as a result of the lock-down than were possibly saved from death by the draconian measures adopted by many of our “leaders.” It also must be recognized these measures were driven by inaccurate, purposely manipulated computer models.

Here’s my question: Why is it for the last two months we have not heard one word or numbers of how many people are dying from the flu?
All they are reporting is virus deaths. How many were actually dying of flu and it was marked off as a virus death?
And what advantage is it to the Left to keep the numbers high to blame it on the virus?
Think about it…when is the last time you heard about flu deaths?
I think they blame everything on the virus to justify Americans being locked down….power, control, and fear.

Do you know anyone who caught the regular flu this year? Many get the flu every year, shot or no shot. Per CDC, yearly range of about 12,000 to 56,000. Sounds like CDC records aren’t that good. CDC budget in 1987 was $590 million. CDC budget in 2019 was $8 billion with a b. Increase of almost 14X. Federal spending “only” increased by about 4X. There are 10 other federal agencies involved in similar things as CDC. Sounds like we need a housecleaning of the deep state here.

You can take 15,000-60,000 regular flu deaths from the total US Covid-19 deaths and approx. 1/2 of the rest because they are nursing homes intentionally exposed to C-19 positive patients of all ages by the DimmoCrap mayors and governors. Now, you’re actually getting much closer to regular flu mortality rates. Just think, in the first year of the H1N1 pandemic from Apr. 2009-Apr. 2010, approx. 60,000,000 were infected in the US, the worldwide mortality rate was 500,000 and 80% of deaths were UNDER 65 years old…..and yet, not one city, or school in the entire world was “shut-down”. Why is that? Even though children were especially susceptible, the former Shiite-Stain-in-Chief, Bend-over Bath House Barry, aka. “The ChiTown Hustler kept on shuckin’ and jivin’ while STILL having a children’s Easter Egg hunt at the White House, even though our CDC had already declared it a pandemic and recommended that our schools be CLOSED. Not a PEEP out of ANY LAMEstream media network or newspaper….NOTHING but praise. Not one word of reality or criticism. How’s that for a trip down “memory lane” for those libtaards with bad memories?
