Why We Are Bogged Down in Afghanistan
Last Friday, I spoke at the Eagle Council in St. Louis, where both the speaker roster and the audience were full of stalwart, indomitable patriots. One of the patriots there was Mark Schneider, President of Gen IV Nuclear Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia. He served for twenty years was on the ground in Iraq and Kuwait, and he offered a disquieting insight into an important but overlooked reason why our lengthy military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have borne so little fruit.
Story continues below advertisementSchneider was in the United States military from 1998 to 2018, years during which the primary threat that our nation faced was the global jihad, which was, after all, the reason why we had our forces in Iraq and Kuwait, as well as Afghanistan, in the first place. We had a long and fascinating conversation, but the most important takeaway was this: I asked him, “In all that time, from 1998 to 2018, were you given one class, or even one lesson, or were recommended one book, anything at all, that discussed Islam’s doctrine of warfare against and the subjugation of unbelievers?
No. Not one.
Instead, all his training revolved around not offending Afghans’ cultural sensitivities. Schneider went for detention operations; his cultural training included subjects such as “What is Ramadan?” He and other American personnel were told not to eat or drink during the day, even though none of them were Muslim. They were allowed to eat and drink during the day when they were on military bases, but not off; American personnel were discouraged from consuming food while off military installations.
The other thing that Schneider and other American troops were taught was that if they were anything other than Muslim or Christian, they had to say they were Muslim or Christian, because, they were told, the Afghans “didn’t like other religions.” They were only allowed to say they were adherents of the religions of the God of Abraham, although of course they were not to mention Judaism.
They were also told not to wave at people with their left hand or ever touch anyone with that hand, as it was considered unclean. Also, men were warned not to speak directly to women.
That was about it. Nothing, nothing whatsoever, on why the enemy was fighting against us. Nothing about how the enemy viewed the world and what he was trying to achieve. The first rule of warfare is “Know your enemy,” and our troops have been and are woefully ill-equipped in that regard. They know how not to wave at the enemy, but they know nothing about his motives and goals.
That’s why we are negotiating with the Taliban now, as if we could come to some kind of viable agreement with them. This is a ridiculous idea, and amounts to rewarding Islamic terrorism. The Taliban was the most prolific and deadliest group during Ramadan this year, while those negotiations were going on. And yet the Afghan government recently released 490 Taliban (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) fighters and commanders from its prisons in June, as part of a goodwill gesture to persuade the bloodthirsty jihadis to come to stay at the negotiating table.
The desire to negotiate with the Taliban and the complete absence of any training in the enemy ideology both proceed from the same willful ignorance, an ignorance to which far too many people at the upper levels of our government are still committed. Mark Schneider’s story ought to be taken as a cautionary tale (although it will almost certainly not be). During World War II, our soldiers were all given instruction in the Nazi ideology, so that they knew the magnitude of the evil they were facing, and would understand the mindset of those they were facing on the battlefield. For the last twenty years, by contrast, our troops have been flying blind, going into highly dangerous situations without having a clue of what they were up against.
It’s inexcusable.

For President Obama, the military of a once-feared superpower is an anachronistic vestige of an America whose exceptionalism and world leadership require repeated apologies. It must be gutted and fundamentally transformed into a force wearing gender-neutral headgear only useful for holding the presidential umbrella when it rains. It is to be “his” military and used only for “his” purposes.

Does a military oath expire?
Technically, you remain obligated to that service until discharged. Technically it expires once our enlistments/commissions are up. BUT, as Capt Seid Waddell says, our Oath never expires. It is our duty to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC.
Looks like those discharged highly trained patriots are sitting on their hands.

Not all, but a substantial percentage of the western elites – in particular among the ranks of the globalists – have betrayed their very own nations, people, and civilization in favor of the oldest and most-implacable enemy of the West – Islam. Whereas communism (cultural Marxism) is the dominant ideology of the west today, it has joined forces with Islam in what is termed for brevity, the “Red-Green Alliance,” red being the color emblematic of communism, green being indicative of Islam.
The Muslims, per se, do not control the deep-state. Rather, the globalists who rule the West via the deep-state are in league with Islam. Globalism is transnational in nature, and many of its non-Muslim members – are more loyal to their fellow globalist Sunni Muslim Arabs than to their own kind. The “Red-Green Alliance” controls the deep-state. Where does the red end, and the green begin, or vice-versa?
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been a good soldier for globalism for years, but before she was ever a globalist, she was a committed communist. Judging with how friendly she is with Turkish President Erdogan, it would not surprise me if Frau Merkel has already said the shahada and converted to Islam.

Historically, communism has been atheistic. Although at times, some communist regimes have permitted the practice of various religious traditions when it benefits the state and the party to do so, i.e., such as Stalin allowing the reopening of the Russian Orthodox churches during WWII.
The “Red-Green Alliance” is unlikely, but stranger things have happened in history – and sharing a common enemy – western (Christian) civilization – is a powerful inducement to put aside for at least the present whatever “doctrinal differences” they may have. Once they have vanquished their shared enemy, those other things can be sorted out, shall we say. Until then, the old aphorism applies: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
It is too soon to tell, but we may be witnessing the birth of a new hybrid of the belief systems. Perhaps the Muslims on one hand, and the communists on the other, will be less-inclined to protest when they find that together they are stronger and can realize more of their goals than being apart and hostile to one another.
And in individuals like Barack Hussein Obama, the former President of the U.S., we see the comfortable coexistence of Islam and communism alongside one another. Obama picks-and-chooses from either, neither or both as circumstances dictate, and he seems to be doing rather well for himself based upon that strategy.
Infamous international assassin-for-hire and terrorist, Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, better known to modern readers as “Carlos the Jackal,” was finally caught by the French authorities, charged, and convicted before being incarcerated in a French prison. There, he converted to Islam, and eventually penned a book entitled “Revolutionary Islam” (L’islam révolutionnaire), published in 2003, in which he stated, “only a coalition of Marxists and Islamists can destroy the United States.”
By the way, Sánchez was/is an admirer of Mr. Obama….

Great article Pam. So long as our leaders fail to understand the enemy we face, innocent lives will be lost and billions of dollars will be wasted on pointless wars and appeasing our enemies.
I’m sure the Muslims are laughing at us in their mosques about how clueless we are for not figuring out their real goals/intentions. They probably think Allah blinded us to give them an easy victory.
Our retarded leaders have doubled down on their mistakes. Europe continues to let the Islamic invaders in by the thousands and they do nothing while Muslims keep raping, robbing and killing.
But the media/politicians/police are intensely focused on ‘hurty words’ (hate speech) used against Muslims online and in public and investigating hijab-grabbing hoaxes and ‘far-right’ terrorism which barely exists.
All the while ignoring real terrorism caused by Muslims. If this trend continues, the West will be conquered within a few decades by Islam.

Incompetent leaders ignorant of the nature of Islam would be bad-enough, but unfortunately the problem is much worse than that: It isn’t incompetence or ignorance which drive the current transformation of the West, it is treason. A significant percentage of senior political and other leaders, globalists both here and in Europe, have aligned themselves with the Muslims. They have betrayed their native lands, their own peoples and their own civilization, and are now working with the oldest and most-implacable enemies of the West – the Muslims of the Islamic world.
I am speaking of people such as billionaire George Soros, EU President Jean-Claude Juncker, former British PM Teresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Macron. Even Pope Francis has gone over to the “Red-Green Alliance,” and is now working for the globalists. “Red” being the color of communism; “Green” being the color of Islam – hence, the “Red-Green Alliance.”
From the vintage point of the present it seems as if the globalist elites are employing the soldiers of Allah as their shock troops, something like how the Nazis used the SS-Gestapo. The puppet-masters try to keep things natural looking, since the success of their plan depends on stealth, but it is now plain that the elites are quite sympathetic to the Muslims, even as the Saracens wage jihad across Europe, bringing the chaos, death and destruction which always accompany Islam, to a once-peaceful Europe.
If caught, the authorities seem more sympathetic to the Muslims themselves than the victims – the hapless people raped, murdered or otherwise brutalized by their new neighbors. Even when charged, if convicted, the Muslims get a slap on the wrist and are soon out of jail and again causing mayhem. Meanwhile, the so-called “leaders” of places like Germany lecture their besieged people about Islamophobia!

The movie “Day of the Siege” is a riveting depiction of the evils of Islam and how fortune and godliness was used to combat it. The nature of the enemy is pretty clear, and the stupidity of politicians nearly ended the Christian rule of Vienna. Show that movie to the military.

On the positive side, my husband was a Marine for 30 years and didn’t have to be told about the ideology he was fighting. Most military people and families DO read, get it. Which does not excuse the absence of official information. But don’t forget, Pamela, the military is DIRECTED by our civilian politicians. They just execute the orders, they don’t make the policy except at the highest levels, and even then, they must acquiesce to the commander in chief and his civilian staff.

Yes, the military are required to follow civilian orders, but that does not absolve the senior officer corps. They are taught the difference between lawful and unlawful orders, and their duty is to refuse to obey the latter. However, too many senior military men care more about their next promotion and their pensions than doing what is right. If the armed forces are being infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood – as happened under Obama – then those senior officers and NCOs had a duty to warn the American people. If not through official channels, then via unofficial ones.
You probably already know that the defense “I was just following orders” did not work for the German defendants at Nuremberg.
If your husband knew the nature of the threat – I sincerely hope he did everything in his power to the best of his ability to warn policymakers and his fellow citizens.
Unfortunately, the damage was done – some of it well-before Obama, under Clinton and both Bushes. George W. Bush’s White House and Pentagon were, in many respects, no better than Obamas. The House of Saud have owned the Bushes for years. The Clintons, well, you already know who they are. Ever wonder why there are imams in the so-called “chaplain” corps? Blame Bill Clinton.
Of all of the services, the Marine Corps has done the best job of staying truth to their roots and their mission to the American people. Maybe it is because the very first war fought by the newly-independent United States was against the Islamic Barbary states of North Africa.

I was very disappointed to see that the Corps is allowing women into the combat arms and is diluting the standards to allow female Marines to pass selection for platoon leaders, which course has historically been extremely challenging. If the brass have to put their thumb on the scale to get the intended result, women grunts – it isn’t an intellectually or morally honest process anymore. The fix is in, even in the Corps. Same with the U.S. Army Rangers, too.

THE CHAIRMAN OF the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Tuesday ordered the entire U.S. military to scour its training material to ensure it doesn’t contain anti-Islamic content, Danger Room has learned. The order came after the Pentagon suspended a course for senior officers that was found to contain derogatory material about Islam.
The extraordinary order by General Martin Dempsey, the highest-ranking military officer in the U.S. armed forces, was prompted by content in a course titled “Perspectives on Islam and Islamic Radicalism” that was presented as an elective at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. The course instructed captains, commanders, lieutenant colonels and colonels from across all four armed services that “Islam had already declared war on the West,” said Lt. Gen. George Flynn, Dempsey’s deputy for training and education.
“It was inflammatory,” Flynn told Danger Room on Tuesday. “We said, ‘Wait a second, that’s really not what we’re talking about.’ That is not how we view this problem or the challenges we have in the world today.”
The strong response by the Pentagon brass illustrates growing sensitivity around the issue since Danger Room’s investigation of anti-Islam material in the FBI’s counterterrorism training last September. That story sparked strong condemnation of the training material from the U.S. Attorney General on down, and prompted the White House to order a review of U.S. counterterrorism training last October.
Despite that White House order, the “Perspectives” course, taught since 2004, not only evaded review, but had defenders in the Joint Forces Staff College that taught it.
Danger Room first learned about the course last month, and determined that one of its guest lecturers was Stephen Coughlin, who has taught FBI and U.S. Army audiences that Islamic law is a danger to U.S. national security. We sought comment from a representative for the Joint Forces Staff College, who defended the propriety of the course.

You are 100% correct in everything you said. It is compete folly to think all people are the same. I often shake my head when conservatives try to show how horribly democom policies and leadership have failed by pointing out Detroit, Baltimore, etc. There is no doubt liberal policies make things worse in almost every situation, but that is really not the main cause of it. No one dares point out the obvious however, with the PC insanity that cripples us. Muslims will never have a decent civilization if we remain there for 100 years.
Our leaders in the 19th and early 20th century were either far more intelligent than the ones of today, or they were not crippled by PC insanity.
I honestly hate and despise young Bush. Without his blind stupidity we would never have the Muslim problem and without Bush I doubt we would have ever elected Obama, who just accelerated the insanity started by Bush.

Multiculturalism is why America and the West refuses to call out Islam, or as this article says why we won’t train troops in the duplicity of their ideology. the late 1970’s when Carter deemed it necessary to force the military to be
a vehicle and leading edge of social change in this country. I was in the
Navy until 1988 and this culture was one of the reasons that I
resigned my commission. Granted, it got a lot better when Reagan became
president, but the seeds of this harmful dogma was never rooted out
fully and mostly infected the minds of the careerist officers. Famous
military men such as Gen Patton or Adm Bull Halsey would have been pariahs
even 50 years ago. So sad that the real power in the military is with the
lawyers and their enablers…the mostly clueless/control-obsessed
politicians.

These are incidents that immediately come to mind where the immediate commander was derelict in Force Protection responsibilities. Evidently, you think the President is omnipotently appearing worldwide, walking the halls at every military installation and ship, Project Managing every minute detail….even though he ISN’T a trained military man….LOL…???????? That being said, the Commander-in-Chief IS responsible for when, how or if we respond to certain provocations, but THAT’S an entirely different kettle of fish.

Be careful. bullets would not have made a difference. the guards tried to stop the truck, they were not prepared for that to happen. I worked with one of the victims, they had no idea of what happened until they were recovering in the hospital.
Also keep in mind that in WW II the troops turned in their guns before turning in for the night. Because of this standing order they were caught off guard and many were killed when they were over run by the last Japanese on Iwo Jima, one of my uncles got a Silver Star there by using a bulldozer to shield a group of guys while he sealed up the enemy within their caves. Three brothers were in the war of the Pacific and in Korea at lease one was called up. And I thought 11 months in Viet Nam was hell, (it was) Thanks Mr. Johnson

What’s REALLY ridiculous was not only that they were not taught about the vile ideology of the “enemy” Muslim terrorists but they also weren’t taught that it’s the same vile ideology as their Muslim “allies.” They should have been taught never to trust any Muslim including a so-called “ally,” who will smile in your face and then slit your throat. We are never defending FREEDOM when fighting on any one side of any war between Muslims…we are only trying to get rid of the most devout religious Muslims. Maybe we should think of our American troops fighting on behalf of one group of Muslims in a war between Muslims as the modern day equivalents of the Ottoman Sultan’s Janissaries (an elite corps of slaves made up of kidnapped young Christian boys who were converted to Islam). The American dhimmi forces of Janissaries of today must submit to Islam nonetheless even if not converted.
I suppose this is the best that we can do since there are 1.6 billion infidel-hating Muslims in the world who adhere to the same Manifesto of Hate known as the Quran.

Our military has sustained many unneeded deaths and injuries as a direct response of this blatant refusal of our military leaders to provide the required instruction on Islam to our brave soldiers. When you combine this deliberate malfeasance with rules of engagement that are unrealistic and place men in danger at all times. Then, they all fear to cross the line and being prosecuted for murder by some Obamatype SJW posing as a JAG officer. This has already cost us 1000’s of lives and trillions of dollars. And, it all starts in our schools where our children are taught from texts that only report the fake “glories” of Islam and not the truth that it has waged war on civilization for 1440 years and counting. A continuous war that has led to hundreds of millions of deaths, huge loss of resources, and created a world where 1.5 billion adherents of Islam live in poverty, chaos, and ignorance.A world where not a single significant accomplishment in the sciences or technology has emerged in the last 1000 years. There can be no further dispute among men and women of goodwill that the time has arrived for Christians and Jews to our senses and annihilate this curse from our world once and for all.

The high level of suicides and stress that servicemen accrued is directly (in my mind) attributed to the PC culture and the fact that soldiers were supposed to fight terrorists, but charged if they accidentally killed unarmed people. So a terrorist could just drop their weapon after running around a corner, and all of a sudden, not be a combatant. How can our policies possibly work when the soldiers have to work under those conditions?

There has always been an “Arab” group in State and DOD domains. It has been written off as the cost of doing business for oil. Which we may feel the crunch if the Saudi’s do not make good their efforts to restore production in the wake of the Houthi attacks. As a military retiree I still occasionally meet decidedly antisemitic and anti Israel service people despite the mythology of the Jews owning the USA. Some see the existence of Israel as a bum in the road, others even see it as a disaster, Others such as myself see Israel as the last hope for any kind of future for the region. And it can not be had at the cost of Jewish and Christian genocide and Dhimmitude.
Afghan has been a special almost unique problem, because it is so xenophobic, but still hold onto 7th century theology, and unable to distinguish time seem to believe the Crusades only ended a few years ago. It seems to be the land that time forgot in a bad way.

An additional question would be appropriate. Has anyone read the history of the Catholic Church in repelling Islam from the European continent since Islam began invading? Try the Battle of Tours, La Reconquista of El Cid, King Philip and Queen Isabella, the Crusades (a defensive action after 700 years of Islamic invasion), the miraculous naval battle of Lepanto, or the Gates of Vienna on for size. Today, the Catholic Church post Vatican II is so apologetic toward Islam you’d think 1,400 years of education has been flushed down the toity.
