CNN: “Mueller’s report looks bad for Obama”

44

If CNN is saying it……..

Mueller’s report looks bad for Obama

The partisan warfare over the Mueller report will rage, but one thing cannot be denied: Former President Barack Obama looks just plain bad. On his watch, the Russians meddled in our democracy while his administration did nothing about it.

By Scott Jennings, CNN, April 19, 2019:

Story continues below advertisement

The Mueller report flatly states that Russia began interfering in American democracy in 2014. Over the next couple of years, the effort blossomed into a robust attempt to interfere in our 2016 presidential election. The Obama administration knew this was going on and yet did nothing. In 2016, Obama’s National Security Adviser Susan Rice told her staff to “stand down” and “knock it off” as they drew up plans to “strike back” against the Russians, according to an account from Michael Isikoff and David Corn in their book “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump”.
Why did Obama go soft on Russia? My opinion is that it was because he was singularly focused on the nuclear deal with Iran. Obama wanted Putin in the deal, and to stand up to him on election interference would have, in Obama’s estimation, upset that negotiation. This turned out to be a disastrous policy decision.
Obama’s supporters claim he did stand up to Russia by deploying sanctions after the election to punish them for their actions. But, Obama, according to the Washington Post, “approved a modest package… with economic sanctions so narrowly targeted that even those who helped design them describe their impact as largely symbolic.” In other words, a toothless response to a serious incursion.

But don’t just take my word for it that Obama failed. Congressman Adam Schiff, who disgraced himself in this process by claiming collusion when Mueller found that none exists, once said that “the Obama administration should have done a lot more.” The Washington Post reported that a senior Obama administration official said they “sort of choked” in failing to stop the Russian government’s brazen activities. And Obama’s ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, said, “The punishment did not fit the crime” about the weak sanctions rolled out after the 2016 election.

>A legitimate question Republicans are asking is whether the potential “collusion” narrative was invented to cover up the Obama administration’s failures. Two years have been spent fomenting the idea that Russia only interfered because it had a willing, colluding partner: Trump. Now that Mueller has popped that balloon, we must ask why this collusion narrative was invented in the first place.

Given Obama’s record on Russia, one operating theory is that his people needed a smokescreen to obscure just how wrong they were. They’ve blamed Trump. They’ve even blamed Mitch McConnell, in some twisted attempt to deflect blame to another branch of government. Joe Biden once claimed McConnell refused to sign a letter condemning the Russians during the 2016 election. But McConnell’s office counters that the White House asked him to sign a letter urging state electors to accept federal help in securing local elections — and he did. You can read it here.

I guess if I had failed to stop Russia from marching into Crimea, making a mess in Syria, and hacking our democracy I’d be looking to blame someone else, too.
But the Mueller report makes it clear that the Russian interference failure was Obama’s alone. He was the commander-in-chief when all of this happened. In 2010, he and Eric Holder, his Attorney General, declined to prosecute Julian Assange, who then went on to help Russia hack the Democratic National Committee’s emails in 2016. He arguably chose to prioritize his relationship with Putin vis-à-vis Iran over pushing back against Russian election interference that had been going on for at least two years.
If you consider Russian election interference a crisis for our democracy, then you cannot read the Mueller report, adding it to the available public evidence, and conclude anything other than Barack Obama spectacularly failed America. Subsequent investigations of this matter should explore how and why Obama’s White House failed, and whether they invented the collusion narrative to cover up those failures.

you left out “we can’t drill our way out this” when gasoline hite $5 per gallon. the greedy carbon-loving texas wildcatters then proceeded to drill our way of it so well that we export oil, gasoline, and natural gas 6 years after the muslim told us we couldn’t.

For export is correct. But should we export out last proven reserves?

How much natural gas does the United States have, and how long will it last?

https://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.php?id=58&t=8

The U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates in the Annual Energy Outlook 2019 that as of January 1, 2017, there were about 2,459 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of technically recoverable resources (TRR) of dry natural gas in the United States. Assuming the same annual rate of U.S. dry natural gas production in 2018 of about 30.4 Tcf, the United States has enough dry natural gas to last about 80 years.

Failing old legacy wells about to run out. We should save it for our use.
Deep off shore wells far out to sea. We should save it for our use.
Fracking the last reserves in the lower 48. We should save it for our use.
Opened the last untouched arctic national refuge. We should save it for our use.

…but what did Congress do?

Oil Export Ban removed by Congress…and for what strategic purpose??, to export most of it??? That is criminal! Energy independence was NOT the goal here.

I have an idea, let’s use up our arab enemies oil first, while the world price is low. Let’s save our last domestic reserves of oil and gas in the USA and Canada as a strategic resource for the next 200 years.

Prices in the US initially dropped because of self serving Saudi price cuts designed to destroy our domestic tar sand and fracking oil and gas suppliers. World oversupply and lower demand helped also. Prices have risen in the last year.

Canadian oil sand and gas reserves that cannot be torpedoed off shore are good to keep for the future of the United States as a “Strategic” resource. It should not be sold off now to Communist China and the EU.

But Alas, current greedy short term corporate profits trump patriotism and long term national security concerns once again.

The Saudi’s and Russian’s will sit on their reserves, laugh and wait.

Don’t pin your hopes on Barr. He’s another player on Team Deep State. He is highly intelligent though and is currently finessing the appearance of integrity while protecting Mueller and Rosenstein. For evidence look at his absurd endorsement of the corrupt Rosenstein at his press briefing on the Mueller report. As a long-time friend of Mueller, Barr must be aware of his incompetence and screw-ups while FBI director. Barr will do what he can, but within limited bounds, so as not to upset the status quo…

“while he did nothing about it” is not correct. never forget the hot mike conversation he had with putin before the 2012 election, telling putin he couldn’t proceed with things until the election was over. the muslim was a communist….his muslim step father was a member of the indonesian communist party and worked for the communist indonesian government. the evidence is overwhelming that russian and muslim hidden hands got their boy into the white house, where he did whatever they told him to

Actually Communists are atheists. And Obama’s step father was not a Communist, he was a secular Muslim who served in the army. Indonesia is not a Communist nation. I doubt you know what Communism is.

Lots of head fakes in the article to mislead people. 1.) Susan Rice needs to be asked, under oath, WHY she insisted on standing down any effective options against the Russians re election interference (among a ton of OTHER things). One of my many guesses is that the Russians know everything about Obama and could make life VERY difficult for him. 2.) The collusion narrative had nothing to do with covering up for Obama, that was to keep Trump from being elected, and when that failed, to get him removed from office based on a false, invented narrative, that morphed into a coop attempt by Hillary, the FBI, CIA, DOJ and Obama. 3.) Hillary and Obama did more to HELP Russia, and did almost nothing to curtail so called bad behavior. Why would allowing Russia to acquire 20% of our uranium reserves be a ‘good thing’ for America? EVER? KNOWING that uranium was in turn, being sold to Iran for it’s nuclear program. Was THAT apart of the Iranian deal? So MUCH more. This article is about deflection.

Obama will be one of the last indicted for his treason. His underlings will throw him under the bus to try to save their necks from the noose. It will be interesting to see how much longer he will be in the country before heading to where is no extradition treaty with the US.

If you look closely, you can discern etching on the former president’s ring. What might Obama have engraved on his ring? Probably just: “I love Moochelle oodles” or “America is awesome.” Right? No? Maybe it’s just a form of elvish? No? Weird.

Every country currently ruled by leftists can only maintain power by controlling its own military/police and by preventing its law-abiding citizens from obtaining weapons. We can thank our founding fathers for possessing the wisdom and foresight necessary to create the 2nd amendment. The American left may win the Presidency again and even control Congress but they will never control the military, the police or citizen access to guns. In the end, that may be all that matters.

Scott Jennings, I think that you had better review the actual facts before you write anything in the future. You have a hell of a lot wrong in this article. There was NO WAY that the Russians could EVER have interfered with our elections at the ballot box level. All they could do, if they actually did it, was to put some propaganda on the internet. BFD.

IF you ever listened to what Rush played about the Nerogro before he got illegally elected, then read the stories about the sodomite I thought it impossible the Nerogro would get illegally elected.

But then the Demoncraps thought it was impossible for Trump to get legally elected.

Do you have a feeling like you are being played? MS said they have an implicit agreement. You know, they get the power for 8 years and then we get access to the power the next 8 years.

That’s exactly what happened. Obama would have been running the country through Hillary.
She is past the point of caring about policy. All she wanted was to be President.
Notice how the Clinton’s and Bush’s are close. Mutual hatred of our country, keeps the Bush’s, Clinton’s and Obama united.

“Looks bad for Obhammud”? Duh! Tell me something I did not know. This Russian shenanigan has his fingerprints all over it.

If the collusion hoax was a counterintelligence operation by the FBI, why was the victim of it, candidate Trump, never clued in? Because it was campaign season and anything detrimental to the opposing party was what was desired.

Folks, another misleading headline, sorry. No, Ms. Geller, it’s not “CNN is saying it,” as though if this alleged icon of far-left “fake news” admits bad stuff about their sainted icon, it “must” be true. No, who said it was a GUEST COMMENTATOR on CNN, a gentleman named Scott Jennings. Just who is Scott Jennings? According to the Wikipedia article on him,

“Scott Jennings (born October 26, 1977) is a writer, CNN and USA Today contributor, and a former appointee in the administration of George W. Bush, and is now a public relations executive and conservative commentator.”

Go figure! Far from being the ultra-biased “fake news” site that far-rightists accuse it of being, CNN actually tries for BALANCE in its choice of commentators by giving conservatives a platform too. I already knew that, but I’m sorry a lot of people here seemingly didn’t.

Sorry, all these attempts to exonerate Trump and blame Russian interference on Obama strike me as something from Planet Bizzaro in the Fifth Dimension. And in any event, EVEN IF Obama is the one who originated ties with Russia to RIG OUR ELECTIONS, why wasn’t the Trump administration, and the Prez himself, DEMANDING MORE in the way of investigating that blatant interference into our most fundamental democratic process, in order to protect and uphold the Constitution, as he is sworn to do? The Russian meddling was an attempt to undermine the Constitution and is the kind of thing totally at odds with the “rule of law,” but perfectly acceptable to any iron-fisted autocrat who is more comfortable with “one-man rule.” Like Putin — and like Trump, because, as he famously said, “Only I can fix it.” A little ego, there?

In any event, Obama never did turn the USA into a dictatorship, even though he had 8 years in office to try to do so, if that were his intent. Clearly, it wasn’t. Trump, though, is trying his damnedest to squelch the normal and healthy democratic oversight that the GOP-controlled Congress let him get away without, for two long years. That’s what dictators do. Dissing the free press as “enemies of the people” is another thing they do. Not to mention, accusing the opposition party of treason, and of plotting a coup, just because they are loyal to the CONSTITUTION and not personally loyal to HIM.
