Channel 4’s “My Week as a Muslim” is a big yawn. Filmed the week of Manchester bombing, it’s a big so what?

18

A British documentary series has caused an international panic of sorts. Here’s the set-up, and you know it was just that: a British woman dresses up and lives as a devout Muslim to see what life is like for Muslimas in the UK. You know where this is going, right? Channel 4’s “My Week as a Muslim” saw Katie Freeman live as a Muslim and wear traditional dress. The worst of it? People were shocked! outraged! ashamed! yada yada when she walked by a group of drunk patrons at a local pub who made fun of her “sunhat.” Seriously, this is what the big brouhaha is about? Frankly, it’s a big yawn. Mind you, this was filmed the same week a devout Muslim blew up little girls and their families at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Their restraint is notable. I have had far worse things said to me when I walked past a group of drunk fools. Jews wearing religious symbols suffer infinitely worse on a daily basis in Europe. This program is a big so what. But this where where we are: Muslims are a protected class, as dictated by the Quran, with a hair-trigger sensitivity that non-Muslims better respect; otherwise, you will be attacked, smeared, libeled and destroyed as a “racist-islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigot.”

Devout Muslims have laid siege to whole countries, making going to concerts, the grocer, festivals, parades, even a walk home fraught with peril, and we are “disgusted” by a sunhat remark. If anything, it proves there is no there there.

This program is pure propaganda. Europeans are living with daily acts of jihad terror. People should outraged and disgusted at the media’s scrubbing and censoring of the jihadi doctrine and its call for genocide, Jew-hatred, creed apartheid and gender apartheid.

The coverage at the Daily Mail is their typical sniveling cowardice. The quislings at the notorious Daily Mail are outraged. They should be ashamed of themselves.

‘Are you going to blow us up?’ Viewers outraged as woman has Islamophobic abuse hurled at her as she walks past her local pub while wearing a hijab and posing as a Muslim in shocking TV show

  • Katie Freeman, 42, wanted to ban the burka and was frightened of Muslims
  • C4’s My Week as a Muslim saw her live as a Muslim and wear traditional dress
  • When walking by her local pub in a hijab she is verbally abused by customers
  • Scene left viewers feeling horrified and ‘disgusted’ by the Islamaphobic taunts
  • Others branded Katie ‘ignorant’ for the comments she made about her hosts

By Stephanie Linning and Molly Rose Pike For Mailonline, 24 October 2017:

Viewers were left outraged last night after a British woman posing as a Muslim was subjected to vile abuse as she walked past her local pub.

Katie Freeman was targeted by drinkers while disguised in a hijab as she took part in an explosive new documentary on Channel 4 called My Week as a Muslim.

The 42-year-old was taunted in her hometown of Manchester by punters, including one who asked if she planned to ‘blow them up’, in the same week that a terror attack rocked the city.

However Katie, a former ‘ban the burka’ campaigner, also came in for criticism for claiming early on in the programme that Muslims did not ‘dress British’.

As part of the documentary, Katie spent seven days living with with Saima Alvi, 49, and her family.

New perspective: Katie, left, spent a week living as a Pakistani Muslim for the Channel 4 show

Horrified: Dismayed viewers took to Twitter to express their horror at the vile taunts

Katie said she felt ‘sickened’ by the taunts outside the pub and viewers agreed those responsible should be ‘ashamed’.

But others claimed it was Katie who should feel embarrassed, after she initially struggled to accept Saima’s way of life.

One scene saw Katie explain that she did not think her Manchester-born host ‘dressed British’, prompting viewers to brand her ‘ignorant’.

Just 10 minutes into the hour-long programme, one viewer posted: ‘This woman is so awful I can barely watch it.’

Cameras followed Katie as she grappled to integrate with the community – including during a stint as a chaperone on a ‘date’ between two young Muslims looking to marry.

By the end of the documentary she had become friends with her Muslim hosts, and was left convinced that white and Muslim Brits need to put on a ‘united front’ in the face of adversity and terrorism.

The positive outcome also prompted tweets from viewers who praised Channel 4 for creating an ‘eye opening’ show.

That is exactly what they want you to think! I lived with Muslims for 2 years in Saudi, make no mistake, they think they are given dominion over you, and will act upon their divine right to eradicate you the soonest opportunity they have.

I avoid wind ups like this like the plague, years ago C4 aired “Make me a Muslim”, that was as bad, there are many sick in the head muslim sympathisers in the media {as we know} but in view of the hundreds of British and European people who cannot have a view about all this because they’re dead through muslim atrocities, it’s past the time for these disgusting apologists for Muslims to be called to account .

This reaction is perfectly normal and to be expected. Anybody who visually identifies herself as a follower of vile, odious, oppressive, violent religion should expect such reaction. I would be very surprised if they didn’t. There is absolutely no reason they should expect otherwise. People who single themselves out as social deviants or radicals will always get a reaction, whether they dress up as neo-Nazis and skinheads, or wear gang colours, or maybe like a hip-hopper with trousers showing their buttcrack, drag queens and cross-dressers, whatever. There is no reason a Muslim is any different than any of these. Society doesn’t take kindly to people who flaunt its values.

If a young woman of any race walked past a bunch of drunks they would make comments. So what is the big deal?

I’m looking forward to the episode where a young British woman in a short skirt walks the streets of Islamabad.

What they should have done is to send someone who understands their native tongues to a mosque and listen and translate what those troglodytes say about Christians, Jews and Hindus, as well as about western civilization in general. So, everybody in GB could clearly see who their muslim neighbors are.

Why don’t we see what happens when someone wears a prominent crucifix or kippah in Hamlet Towers? Or would that be too bloody a scenario to be televised by the Bullocks Broadcasting Corporation?

Channel 4 and the BBC are the Muslims best friends, always portraying them as victims, when they should never have been allowed to settle in the UK. They contribute nothing to any civilized society. All they do is destroy it.
