Janet Jackson Reportedly ‘Felt Like A Prisoner’ In Her Marriage To Estranged Husband
The singer’s ex-husband reportedly wanted her to be a traditional wife.

In the few short months since confirming the ending of her marriage, the details about Janet Jackson‘s troubling partnership with Wissam Al Mana have begun to unravel.
ADVERTISEMENTIn a new report from US Weekly, it is alleged that Janet’s desperation for stability following the death of her brother Michael Jackson led to her tumultous five-year marriage. Janet’s relationship with Al Mana began as a much needed escape upon meeting in Dubai in April 2010. “He swept in at just the right time,” an insider said of Al Mana. “He bailed her out and whisked her away to the Middle East.”
“Janet lived a very lavish life with him,” the source continued. “His money could afford them a lot of privacy, which was what she craved.”
However, Janet reportedly began to feel “like a prisoner” as she grew isolated from friends and family. Over time, Al Mana’s desire for “a traditional wife who stuck with Muslim traditions” began to change things. “Janet felt like her music was suffering and she resented Wissam,” the insider said.
Finally, Janet “put her foot down and said no,” the insider added, saying, “Janet wanted to get her life back.” And, it seem as though the “Control” singer is doing just that since returning to the stage for her State of the World Tour ― even hitting the milly rock in true Damita Jo fashion.
