UK: State-funded primary schools allowing hundreds of girls as young as five to wear hijabs as part of uniform

A uniform is supposed to be…uniform. But aside from that, this is just the beginning. How long will it be before the hijab is required for little girls in British schools?

The hijab is worn in Islam in order to keep men from being tempted. So this is sexualizing these little girls. It’s sick.

Schools in the UK are allowing girls as young as five to wear religious headscarves as part of their uniform policies.

According to The Sunday Times, thousands of state primary schools across the country are listing the Muslim garments hijabs as items of uniform.

The growing trend has been criticised by some campaigners who pointed out the headscarf is supposed to be worn by a girl when she reaches puberty – not a child.

But others have disagreed and said that it is a matter of religion and has nothing to do with sexualisation.

In a survey conducted by The Sunday Times, a fifth of 800 primary schools surveyed were found to list a hijab as part of their uniform policy.

Thirty-four per cent of primary schools in Tower Hamlets listed a headscarf on their website, and in Luton the figure was 36 per cent.

But in other regions with a high Muslim population, it was less common. In Leicester, for example, only 6 per cent of schools included the hijab.

Muslim politician Amina Lone told the newspaper: “In an Islamic context, the hijab is commonly understood as being for females after they reach the age of puberty. There are very few Muslims who would say a child should be covered.”

And Gina Khan, a children’s rights campaigner, said schools are listing the garment as uniform “because they are afraid of being called Islamophobic and they have been told that this is a religious garment”.

“But they need to support Muslim girls to have free choices, not to be set apart from other children,” she said….

Just a matter of time before the hijab will be mandatory. It’s distracting to the other students who don’t wear the hijab and will only cause more problems in the classroom, both for teachers and the other students.

Headscarves are OK, in my opinion. As long as I can see their FACES, I have no problem. Its when they wear the ‘Ninja Suit’, then, its a BIG problem and shouldn’t be allowed!!

No it is not. At least not in the developed world. Female head coverings are a symbol of the paternalistic nature of Islamic society and signify that a woman belongs to a male from birth to death be it father, brother or husband. Their symbolism goes against the very grain that Western society has evolved into that recognizes a woman as an individual in her own right. It is even more dangerous to a Non-muslim woman who does not wear such things because Muslim men consider any woman who is not covered as little more than a sl@gs not fit for anything more than to be sexually exploited . This is not my description, these are the utterings of the criminals in the grooming gangs operating in Britain that prey on Non-muslim women on an industrial scale, especially impressionable young white girls.

Such coverings should be banned in the West at least until a woman has become an adult and is free to make her own decision.

Nonsense! Devout Catholic woman, Orthodox Jewish women, Hindu woman, all wear scarves!! I could go on, its the FULL Burka that covers the ENTIRE body, that is a problem and has no place in Western Society. As long as you can see their entire face, there’s no issue!!
