Media Alert: Pamela Geller on Dr. Drew tonight

Busy night in the Atlassphere. I am speaking to the Gotham Tea Party and will be appearing on the Dr. Drew show this evening at 9pm Eastern to discuss the horror in Newtown.

I have debated the gun control issue on Dr. Drew while the left was jumping to mad conclusions, when George Zimmerman was targeted by the left in the death of Trayvon Martin. If you recall, Dr. Drew had me on the day the Trayvon Martin story
broke — when little to nothing was known, but the campaign of
destruction was in fifth gear. Needless to say, I was right — watch it. No media mea culpas — they murder people's names, reputations, and livelihoods, and then move on to the next target.

We are seeing the same reprehensible pattern with the slaughter in Newtown. Instead of grieving and prayer, Obama chose to go after gun control. The Loud Talker has a great piece here. Obama said, "We can't tolerate this anymore. These tragedies must end." Yes, the absence of morality, Hollywood's culture of depraved violence, the war on family must be reversed. The pendulum needs to swing the other way.

American children are fed a daily diet of violence from early childhood on. A non-stop feed of gratuitous, mindless violence on television, in movies, on the internet, and particularly video games, desensitizes. Add to that the porn culture ……. We have crossed a terrible line. The four decades of the left's war on American values  has resulted in declining moral values, the exaltation of failure and crime, the dehumanization of women, and a society bereft of virtue and grace.

Clearly this shooter was mentally ill, with a history riddled with red flags. Outlawing guns will not deter criminals who will not hesitate to obtain illegal guns. It will just render the populace more defenseless.
If anything, Texas is taking the logical steps, allowing teachers to carry.

Ignored is the fact that the shooter in Oregon was stopped by a person using a legal firearm.
The problem is not guns. The problem is our societal glorification of violence and death.
We need to recover love of life and respect for human beings in the society, and teach such things in schools. Our societal nihilism is what leads to these attacks.

Embrace goodness. Hold it up as an aspiration.

The media's coverage is driven by their their leftwing irrational agenda. This from American Thinker.

Amid all its political correctness
and ideological distortion, one thing often overlooked concerning the
mainstream media is its essential strangeness, its near-total separation
from any behavior, attitudes, or ideas that could be defined as "normal".

We find yet another example of this in the treatment
of Adam Lanza, the Newtown CT shooter. A photograph released by the
wire services reveals a delicate-looking kid with a shy smile and a
goofy haircut.

 

The standard reader's reaction would amount to a shake of the head and a "what could have made such a nice kid do it?"

But there's another photo extant as well, one that has not seen such wide circulation:

Apart
from the fact that it would scare the hell out of Hannibal Lector, this
shot leaves no doubt as to "why he did it": because he was as crazy as
they come.

This
stratagem involving photographs immediately calls to mind the Zimmerman
shooting, when the media released, and heavily played up, photos
showing Trayvon Martin as a sweet-faced twelve-year-old rather than the
hulking seventeen-year-old tough faced by George Zimmerman.

Given
the leftist slant of the media, using that shot made sense. The media
circus surrounding that shooting was intended to create a racial
incident, to keep the pot boiling in light of the upcoming electoral
campaign. That photo did its work well — most people still picture
Trayvon Martin as the innocent twelve-year-old as opposed to the
drug-addled teen he became.

But
what are we to make of this Lanza photo? What is the thinking here? Why
the effort to clean up the image of a murderer who killed twenty
children and seven adults? Is the media so estranged from commonplace
reality that they automatically reach for the cheapest, most sentimental
interpretation of an event as a matter of instinct? Or is it yet
another case of ideological subterfuge, an effort to deny the shooter
any form of agency, instead transferring responsibility to the demonic
weapon he used? To transform him into simply another victim, driven to
his crime by a force beyond his control?

Whatever
the case, the end result is to rob the incident of its actual meaning:
the fact that a maniac shot a group of innocents for no other reason than pure spite.

Establishment
journalism is so removed from normality that nothing whatsoever can be
expected from it. There are many reasons to despise the current American
media.
