Bachmann Is Right, McCain Is Wrong on the Muslim Brotherhood in the US Government

McCain is cavalier, lax and sloppy with the facts about the greatest threat facing our nation. Bachmann should be lauded and applauded. And Congress should be pressing for the prosecution of Muslim Brotherhood groups named as such in the captured internal document released during the Holy Land Foundation trial.

Huma Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood: Bachmann vs. McCain by Robert Spencer at FrontPage

Story continues below advertisement

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is at the center of a firestorm over her request that the State, Homeland Security, Defense and Justice Departments, investigate potential “policies and activities that appear to be the result of influence operations conducted by individuals and organizations associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.” This is an entirely legitimate call, as Bachmann abundantly illustrated in a 16-page letter to Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN), laying out the reasons for her concerns. Yet even Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who should know better, has upbraided Bachmann, criticizing her for including Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, among those she noted for having Brotherhood ties.

McCain declared in a statement on the Senate floor that “recently, it has been alleged that Huma, a Muslim American, is part of a nefarious conspiracy to harm the United States by unduly influencing U.S. foreign policy at the Department of State in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist causes.”

McCain, brimming with righteous indignation, thundered: “These sinister accusations rest solely on a few unspecified and unsubstantiated associations of members of Huma’s family, none of which have been shown to harm or threaten the United States in any way. These attacks on Huma have no logic, no basis, and no merit. And they need to stop now.”

He explained that the letter Bachmann and several other Representatives sent asking for an investigation into Muslim Brotherhood influence in the government “alleges that three members of Huma’s family are ‘connected to Muslim Brotherhood operatives and/or organizations.’  Never mind that one of those individuals, Huma’s father, passed away two decades ago.”

However, in her letter to Ellison, Bachmann explained that much more was behind her concern about Abedin than guilt-by-association based on family members: “The concerns about the foreign influence of immediate family members is such a concern to the U.S. Government that it includes these factors as potentially disqualifying conditions for obtaining a security clearance, which undoubtedly Ms. Abedin has had to obtain to function in her position. For us to raise issues about a highly-based U.S. Government official with known immediate family connections to foreign extremist organizations is not a question of singling out Ms. Abedin.  In fact, these questions are raised by the U.S. Government of anyone seeking a security clearance.”

And in Abedin’s case, there are ample reasons for raising these questions. Her father, Syed Z. Abedin, was a professor in Saudi Arabia who founded the Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs, an organization supported by the Muslim World League, a Brotherhood organization. Her mother, Saleha Mahmoud Abedin, is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, the Brotherhood’s adjunct organization for women. The Brotherhood itself is in its own words, according to a captured internal document, dedicated to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house.”

All that leaves McCain unmoved, for he goes on to assert that “the letter and the report offer not one instance of an action, a decision, or a public position that Huma has taken while at the State Department that would lend credence to the charge that she is promoting anti-American activities within our government. Nor does either document offer any evidence of a direct impact that Huma may have had on one of the U.S. policies with which the authors of the letter and the producers of the report find fault.”

However, it is odd that McCain would expect Bachmann to produce the outcome of an investigation before any investigation has even taken place. As Bachmann noted, “these questions are raised by the U.S. Government of anyone seeking a security clearance.” So why should Huma Abedin be exempt? Would an official who had family connections with the Ku Klux Klan or the Aryan Nations be similarly exempt from scrutiny? If not, why should someone with familial connections to a group dedicated to “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within”?

As Bachmann pointed out in her letter to Ellison, the Muslim Brotherhood ties of Abedin’s mother, father and brother have never been a secret, and have long been noted in the international press. Abedin herself has never publicly distanced herself from the Brotherhood, or explained how her worldview or her vision of Islam differ from that of her parents or brother. So by what moral calculus can it possibly be “sinister,” as McCain put it, to ask that Abedin be subjected to the same scrutiny that would be focused upon anyone seeking a security clearance that would allow access to sensitive material comparable to that which she enjoys?

I have a bit of experience with the process for obtaining and holding a clearance. I hold two separate security clearances with our government, my DOD Secret the lesser of the two. I’ve been polygraphed twice which is pretty routine for everyone with a ticket.
Here is a link to Standard Form 86, the Questionnaire for National Security Positions.
http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf86.pdf
Feel free to enjoy all of the form but please look at section 29 beginning on page 116. Section 29 is the Association Record part of the questionnaire. Question 29.1 :Are you now or have you EVER been a member of an organization dedicated to terrorism, either with an awareness of the organization’s dedication to that end, or with the specific intent to further such activities? [emphasis in the original]
The current form is the revision of December 2010. The last one of these I filled out (every five years, the customer stays on top of us) was the revision of July 2008. In the revision I last signed the Association Record is section 28 and question 28.a reads: Have you EVER been an officer or a member of, or made a contribution to, an organization dedicated to terrorism, and which engaged in illegal activities to that end, either with an awareness of the organization’s dedication to that end or with the specific intent to further such illegal activities? [italics added by me]
The fallout of the Holy Land Terror Funding case should make it pretty clear that Muslims who obligingly tithe their mosque are most likely making a contribution to terrorist organizations. I believe that many, if not most of them, are aware of it too. And that has always bugged me when I see Muslims get security clearances. It is only today I realize that the form has been revised since I signed it last and so it is also only today that I see the way they revised the first question in the Association Record section. I perceive the revision as one that makes an accommodation specifically for Muslims. Now one can make contributions to MB, Hizb’Allah, HAMAS and apparently the government is down with that as long as you’re not carrying a membership card for those organizations.
And it should be pointed out that the infiltration of our government manifests itself in exactly this manner. How many people are aware that this obscure form has been revised in a way that accommodates Islam? It may seem like a nit, but it’s actually death by a thousand cuts. Who promoted this particular revised question in the questionnaire? Even among people who know the form, most won’t notice or deconstruct this change. And yet this one small change in this obscure form is exactly the kind of thing that justifies giving Huma Abedin a clearance rather than investigating her associations. The infiltration is so thorough it will take a mighty effort to clean house and I fear it will never even be undertaken.
Well, that was too long a comment. Hah!

I think McCain is jealous that Romney might have a chance to beat Obama, while he McCain obviously could not. So he’s just being a sore loser and he wants to get his name in the news and not be so quickly forgotten. After all just three years ago he was “the man.” McCain chose Palin over Romney for VP because as a “conservative white guy” Romney has more executive leadership experience than McCain, he would have made McCain look bad.

Robert Spencer, we thank you for your tireless efforts! We met you at Ben Gurien airport last summer and you are a bright light in the darkness. We hope Levin and others with airtime do keep this very important story alive. Bachmann, Golmert and the handful of others calling for an investigation are true Patriots and are taking their oaths seriously. McCain, Boehner and the rest of the GOP are traitors and I don’t use that word lightly. Send a donation to Bachmann and let her know we stand with her and thank her.

My link didn’t work so well. If you want to read the form then google: standard form 86. It’s first in the list after the sponsered link. My bad.

If Condi Rice when SOS had a top aide with a mother or brother in the KKK would McCain denounce Nancy Pelosi if she called for a special investigation? Now way!

We can’t let people run her over, if she gives in, no one will dare call for a MB investigation again.

McCain is a mentally sick and broken man. I guess his action of giving into Communists in then North Vietnam is a reflex movement as he strives to appease America’s Communists; e.g., the Democrat party; etc.
There are two people responsible for the probable dissolution/destruction of America. One is Barack Hussein Obama, but the other is McCain. It was McCain who said Obama was a good man. It was McCain who hamstrung Sarah Palin from going after Obama with his preacher, Jerimiah Wright. It was McCain who practically whined that I crashed my plane; ergo, I should be President. The Republicans should have taken more steps to rein in this mentally unstable and stupid person.

It isn’t just McCain whom one has to wonder which side he’s on. Others who’ve piled on Rep. Bachmann were other usual RINO suspects including House speaker John Boehner (whom Jeff Kuhner has called “John Bonehead,” and not entirely unjustified) and GOP campaign “strategist” Ed Rollins. All three of these guys have been compromised in one way or another by Islamic petrodollar influence. Just how many of these RINO’s now condemning Rep. Bachmann have ties to “Jihad” Grover Norquist (good buddy of Sami El-Arian)?
And remember, this isn’t the first time McCain has exposed himself as so compromised on issues like this. Remember back in ’08 during the Presidential race, he essentially threw the election (in the minds of many) by his refusal to examine Obama’s radical ties and background and, in one of the Presidential debates, insisting to a voter who even deigned to raise a question about Obama, something on the order of “he’s an honorable man”?

McCain should have retired from public life after his horrible run for president. The one time proud warrior is way past his prime and continues to make fool out of himself. Retire McCain, shut up and fad away.

Thank God for all of you and talk radio. What is an investigation for? To examine and find out. What is the problem?

In this case McCain should just sit down and shut up, as should anyone else who objects. Ms. Abedin needs to be investigated as Rep. Bachmann has so wisely suggested.

The mainstream enemedia has discredited Michelle Bachmann as batsh*t crazy and will not examine her letters to the IGs and Rep. Ellison (D-ummah).
If Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA)had written the letters, they would have had a lot more credibility, but certainly nowhere the publicity Michelle Bachmann’s letters have received.

You really have to wonder about Huma’s association with the radical misfits of the middle east. Her mother and brother are members of the muslim brotherhood but no action is taken against Huma by them. She married a jew which is cause enough for a death sentence under shariha law, yet she travels all over the middle east without any reprisals? I firmly believe she is a conduit to the radicals with an insiders knowledge of our government and the classified/top secret information made available to her through her intimate relationship with clinton. How in the world she’s entitled to a security clearance, with her families history, is beyond me. No telling what’s revealed between those two during pillow talk.

B.T.W., it’s way too kind to call McCain “cavalier, lax and sloppy with the facts about the greatest threat facing our nation.” He is an active supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood (even going so far as to have met with them in Egypt to field a Presidential candidate, and propping the Brotherhood up in Syria and Libya), and thus is running interference for them in his condemnation of Rep. Bachmann. Indeed, one can say McCain has a history of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood.
And here are two other phony GOP pseudo-“conservative”-cum-Islamo-pandering dhimmi politicians likewise beating up on Rep. Bachmann for her raising such questions: Marco Rubio and Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers. You can pretty much tell who in the Republican Party is a tool of CAIR and/or al Qaeda and/or Hezbollah and/or HAMAS and/or the Muslim Brotherhood, etc., et al., ad nauseam, by who’s going after Michele Bachmann with the proverbial long knives.
Yet it isn’t just with Obama that the Muslim Brotherhood has had such huge influence on our foreign policy, though with him occupying the Oval Office it’s particularly insidious. They had the door open to them during Bush “Dubyah’s” eight years in office, as well.

Well..my just submitted comment has not turned up on screen. So..I will just remind everyone not to lend support to Wahabbism of Saudi Arabia, estremist Shi’te efforts in Iran, or the Muslim Brotherhood. Their aims are all the same…to establish a World Dictatorship such as the Wahabbis are currently operating as they suppress the freedom of the Peoples of Saudi Arabia today. None of these organizations even remotely resemble the true teachings of our original Islam…which says, we must all struggle to make a good life for everyone who lives on our Beautiful Planet Earth…not just make some religious sects wealthier than they already are today. If you are Muslim and you value your individual freedom, you will not ever support the unwise efforts of Wahabbism, Iranian dictatorial Shi’ites, or the Muslim Brotherhood… anywhere on Our Planet Earth.

With these kinds of bags, there is nothing to worry about, Monogrammed Canvas Tote Bag or monogrammed diaper bags will continue up your space while using the times, they are so trendy and stylish used them in your way of life even to travel, of course, these kinds of bags have the specialized pockets and area for babies essentials, from the interior to the facade, feeding-bottle and diapers may be ranged tidily and properly.
