Libya officially announced today that they will be instituting Islamic law, exactly as I said would happen. This is the very thing I was discussing with Sean Hannity in my appearance on his show on Friday. I predicted the rise of an Islamic state in Libya as far back as March.
- Al-Qaeda had a significant role in the toppling of Gaddafi
- The province that led the rebellion against Gaddafi sent the largest number of al-Qaeda fighters to Iraq to wage jihad against Americans of any place in the world
- The leader of the Transitional National Council, Moustafa Abdul-Jalil, says Sharia will be the basis for the new government
- Sharia institutionalizes discrimination against women and non-Muslims and denies the freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience
- Libya, like Tunisia and Egypt, is heading toward becoming an Islamic state

“Libya’s transitional leader declares liberation,” from AP, October 23 (thanks to Jihadwatch):
BENGHAZI, Libya (AP) — Libya’s transitional leader declared his country’s liberation on Sunday, three days after the hated dictator Moammar Gadhafi was captured and killed.
He called on Libyans to show “patience, honesty and tolerance” and eschew hatred as they embark on rebuilding the country at the end of an 8-month civil war.
The transitional government leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil set out a vision for the post-Gadhafi future with an Islamist tint, saying that Islamic Sharia law would be the “basic source” of legislation in the country and that existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified. In a gesture that showed his own piety, he urged Libyans not to express their joy by firing in the air, but rather to chant “Allahu Akbar,” or God is Great. He then stepped aside and knelt to offer a brief prayer of thanks.
“This revolution was looked after by God to achieve victory,” he told the crowd at the declaration ceremony in the eastern city of Benghazi, the birthplace of the uprising against Gadhafi began. He thanked those who fell in the fight against Gadhafi’s forces. “This revolution began peacefully to demand the minimum of legitimate rights, but it was met by excessive violence.”
Abdul-Jalil said new banks would be set up to follow the Islamic banking system, which bans charging interest. For the time being, he said interest would be canceled from any personal loans already taken out less than 10,000 Libyan dinars (about $7,500)….

Well, Libya is lost to Sharia. Why didn’t the mainstream media warn the public that this would happen? Their news reports have been so vague that most people are now suprised about the spreading Islamization in north Africa. More reason to cancel your newspaper subscription.

Pamela Geller’s concern re threats to free political speech (the open expression of ideas and opinions) is not a frivolous matter. In fact, the generation that fought WW2 was directly appealed to re that (note Norman Rockwell’s poster below), and knew free speech was the first reason why Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had to be defeated. (Churchill (e.g.) saw a Nazi victory in WW2 as much more of a danger to Western concepts of political speech and liberty than the USSR because he knew if the Nazis won the war they would control ALL of Europe. For that reason he held his nose and allied with Stalin to stop Hitler.)
Sharia is a long-term threat to the free expression of ideas and opinions (which is the generally accepted definition of political speech) and the public must be aware there are ongoing attempts to silence criticism of Islam and its dogmas. The right to freely criticize Islam’s dogmas and its beliefs is necessary for the sake of free speech. The issue remains the same as 70 years ago….
