China Goes Thermonuclear

The Democrats pick, pick, pick, pick at the national psyche with their tiny but sharp beaks, distracting us from the enemy’s march to war. Iran has no intention of halting their uranium  enrichment program and building their nuclear arsenal while one of their great benefactors,  China has gone thermo. It is (if true) a real technological breakthrough….. the kind of things we should be doing more of.

CHINA TESTS THERMONUCLEAR FUSION REACTOR

China claims to have carried out a successful first test Thursday on its
experimental thermonuclear fusion reactor, state media reported.

The brief Xinhua News Agency report gave no details about the nature of the
test or the results.

The test was carried out on a Tokamak fusion device in the eastern Chinese
city of Hefei, the report said.

China has been eager to claim progress in the project, said to be the first
such reactor in the world.

The hitherto unreported attacks have been kept secret by the
Bush administration for fear that it would damage attempts to co-opt China in
diplomatic offensives against North Korea and Iran.

Sources told the military affairs publication Defense News that
there had been a
fierce internal battle within Washington over whether to make
the attacks public. In the end, the Pentagon’s annual assessment of the growing
Chinese military build-up barely mentioned the threat.

"After a contentious debate, the White House directed the
Pentagon to limit its concern to one line," Defense News said.

NORTH KOREAN NUKES: The US State Department is plainly worried about China’s
Stalinist vassal. North Korea’s mass murdering Dear Leader Kim Jong-il, one of
the world’s truly psychotic heads of state, is reportedly bent on conducting an
underground nuclear bomb test. His regime is a declared nuclear power, and a
menace to the civilized world, but has yet to test a weapon. North Korea depends
on China for most of its food and fuel; and the Chinese and North Korean armies
are quite close. China will not support any truly tough or meaningful sanctions
against its vassal (a country that boasts concentration camps and actual gas
chambers, in which whole families have been murdered). Nor will China support
tough sanctions against nuclear developing Iran, which has followed China’s
advice in attempting to buy time for its disputed uranium enrichment program by
offering "serious negotiations" to a divided Western world. China’s
strengthening and deepening ties with Islamist Iran constitute the Communist
regime’s most important relationship in the Muslim world….

AMERICAN APPEASEMENT: As for the US, it will bend over backwards to avoid public
criticism of China over the North Korean and Iranian issues. In fact, Washington
will go to great lengths to avoid angering Beijing over any issue now that it
seems to be rewarding US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson with a mysterious
upward creep in the relative value of China’s manipulated currency, the yuan.
The fabulously rich former investment banker–he made 70 trips to China as
chairman of giant Goldman Sachs–is a fierce advocate of accommodating
(appeasing) China’s rise. He and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have
sidelined the administration’s China critics, Vice President Dick Cheney and
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

During the experiment, deuterium and tritium atoms were forced together at a
temperature of 100 million Celsius.

"At that temperature, the super heated plasma, which is neither a gas, a
liquid nor a solid, should begin to give off its own energy," scientists
explained.

The first tests lasted nearly three seconds, and generated an electrical
current of 200 kilo amperes, general manager of EAST, Wan Yuanxi said.

The device is planned to eventually create a plasma lasting 1,000 consecutive
seconds, the longest a fusion reactor has ever run, state-run Xinhua news agency
reported.

Director of the Institute of Plasma Physics, Li Jiangang said the results of
the test met the expectations of scientists and signified a great breakthrough
in the research of thermonuclear fusion. "That means we lead all our competitors
by at least a decade," said Li.

"The breakthrough will make it possible for mankind to harness a safe, clean
and endless source of energy."

The data of the test will be submitted to the International Atomic Energy
Agency General Conference in Austria.
