George Soros Helped Fund Purchase of 22 Papers in Maine

Story continues below advertisementGeorge Soros’ Open Society Foundation and the medical-device billionaire philanthropist Hansjörg Wyss were instrumental in the nonprofit purchase of nearly two dozen respected local newspapers in Maine, including the Portland Press Herald, the Lewiston Sun Journal, and the Kennebec Journal, Semafor.com reported.
The National Trust for Local News says it received funding from Soros’ organization, but denies that the Open Society Foundations provided funding specifically for the purchase of the local papers.
But Semafor reported that Soros and Wyss did donate funds so the National Trust could acquire the papers, and the donations had not been previously reported.
In total, the Soros-backed National Trust acquired five daily papers and a further 17 weekly publications in Maine, the Daily Caller reported.
Both Open Society and Wyss gave millions to the National Trust for the purchase of the Maine newspapers, Semafor reported.
Wyss is a major funder of American progressive organizations, funneling nearly $500 million into left-wing advocacy groups. Americans for Public Trust, a watchdog group, alleges that the Swiss billionaire uses a foreign influence loophole to perform his philanthropy.
A Media Research Center report found that Soros has donated $52 million to media organizations since 2003. According to the MRC, some of these donations breach the Society of Professional Journalists’ ethical code regarding conflicts of interest.

16 Comments7 months agoWhen ever I hear the names George Soros or Alexander Soros I know that nothing good will come of it. One big question is why are they buying up newspapers? It seems like the main reason would be to turn these newspapers into ways to spread their leftist, socialist propaganda.
7 months agoThis Nazi has been promulgating his Nazi beliefs his entire life. As his fortunes grew, he spread his malevolence everywhere, working through clandestine, subversive means.
Soros should have been taken down years ago, but when you do Satan’s work, you’re protected by other malign players.

7 months agoSioros is smart, akin to the fictional Blofeld of the James Bond movies. Soros also knows that he is dying and has turned over much of his enterprise to his son Alex Soros and some guy named Hansjörg Wyss.
A little off topic. Some guy named Russell Brand is being accused as a mulipile rapist or sumping. It appears this Russell Brand was a big neo Communist until the Chinee flu hysteria came along. Russell Brand is an antisemite and harasser of our heroine. He invited Pamela Geller in dulcet tones to his show and then tried to ambush her with a plant who held up a sign saying “Pamela’s racism.”
I have no idea whether this Russell Brand is a rapist or not. He could be innocent or his former lib/commie allies could have held his sexually harassing tactic “in stir” in case Russell steps out of line as Brand has been doing since the Chinese flue scare.
Be that what it may, Ruyssell Brand made an appeal on Rumble. I wrote in the comments section what an antisemitic POS he is And said remarks such as if not for antisemites such as Russell Brand, there would be 100 million Jews alive today — not a paltry 15 million.
Instead of responding to my comment on his Rumble post, Russell Brand had my post removed, as befitting the druggie coward that he is.
If an antisemite gets something bad happen to them, I might raise a little protest if the accusation is unfair — but just a little protest not much more than that.
