Police shoot knifeman at Amsterdam airport – terminal evacuated
POLICE have shot a man threatening a crowd with a knife at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.

Military police shot the man after he threatened a crowd this afternoon.
The incident took place at a Starbucks cafe at the busy airport, as shocked passengers were forced to flee.
The airport’s main terminal was evacuated following the incident but has since re-opened.

Dutch police tweeted: “Man shot by the military police at Schiphol Airport after he was threatening with a knife.
“Situation is under control. More information to be announced.”
They later added: “The suspect was overpowered, detained and taken away.”
Passengers took to social media to describe the incident.
One Twitter user said: “Just been evacuated from Schiphol Airport due to suspected shooting.”

After he was told the shooting he heard was military police targeting the knifeman, he said: “They are just taking him out now on stretcher.”
He since said he had been allowed back into the main terminal.Air traffic was not effected.
