With Jewish leaders like the JCRC and Alisa Doctoroff of UJA-Federation, one does not know whether to laugh or to cry.
As we wrote a few months ago, the JCRC stands with the New Israel Fund with the Executive Director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston (JCRC) posting support for NIF, saying: “Friends – These two are member organizations of JCRC. They aren’t always the most popular groups amongst some of our other members, and I have my disagreements on various policy issues with them, as I certainly do with many of our member organizations from time to time. But they are part of the community of Jews who are committed to the existence of a Jewish and democratic State of Israel.” “So in the wake of the protests, the vitriol, the unhealthy actions of a few to tear our community apart, today I am changing my plans – and I invite and encourage you to do so as well. Please join me tonight at Temple Israel so that together we can engage in a journey of curiosity, humility and discovery as we seek to honor the commitment to Israel by a part of our community, and to understand their values and their hope for all of us.”
Today, it’s laughable that JCRC – who endorsed The New Israel Fund marching in their parade –claimed today that they worked with the New York State Assembly to “condemn the boycott movement against the State of Israel and supporting Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.”

Running to secure media coverage, they issued a press coverage, with their president, Michael S. Miller, of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY), saying “The already unbreakable bond between New York State and the State of Israel has been fortified through the principled stand of the New York State Assembly.”
One wonders did the JCRC check with their board member, Karen R. Adler, who is a major donor to the New Israel Fund -proud boycotters of Israel. Adler – who is also President of the Jewish Communal Fund – is also a board member of The Israel Policy Forum, which criticized AIPAC. Adler signed an open letter to Bill De Blasio which said, “the needs and concerns of many of your constituents–U.S. Jews like us among them–are not aligned with those of AIPAC, and that no, your job is not to do AIPAC’s bidding when they call you to do so. AIPAC speaks for Israel’s hard-line government and its right-wing supporters, and for them alone; it does not speak for us.”
The JCRC is hypocrites speaking out of both sides of their mouth — While the Boston Executive Director and a NY board member stand with boycotts, Michael S. Miller issues a press release. Absurd hypocrites.
