Pamela Geller, WND Column: Media enraged at my exposure of their cowardice

I neglected to post my column last week in all of the madness that followed the assassination attempt on my colleagues, patriots and me at the Free Speech event in Texas.
Read it.

Exclusive: Pamela Geller declares, ‘I didn’t start this holy war, but I won’t lie down

All last week, I was defending myself against a mainstream media blaming me for ISIS, al-Qaida and the jihad threat around the world. They are deranged – and enraged at me for exposing their cowardice. The European media said Je Suis Charlie in the wake of the jihad attack on the French cartoon weekly Charlie Hebdo.

The American media said Je Suis Jihad in the wake of the jihad attack on free speech at our free-speech event in Texas.

They say I incited the jihadists who attacked our Muhammad cartoon exhibit in Garland, Texas. I didn’t incite these jihadists. The Shariah incited these jihadists.

But those who would kill over cartoons are just a tiny minority, right? Muslims in the U.S. are moderate, right? Think again: Islamic scholar Andrew Bostom noted the eye-opening results of a 2012 poll of Muslims in the U.S.

When asked, “Do you believe that criticism of Islam or Muhammad should be permitted under the Constitution’s First Amendment?, 58% replied “no,” 45% of respondents agreed “… that those who criticize or parody Islam in the U.S. should face criminal charges,” and fully 12% of this Muslim sample even admitted they believed in application of the draconian, Sharia-based punishment for the non-existent crime of “blasphemy” in the U.S. code, answering affirmatively, “… that Americans who criticize or parody Islam should be put to death.”

The media outrage is astonishing. Why have we never seen the hate and attacks that have been directed at me this week directed at the Fort Hood jihadi, the Times Square jihad bomber, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony jihad bomber, the Boston Marathon jihad bomber, the New York subway jihad bomber or any other jihadis?

Our cartoon contest was needlessly provocative? No – murdering cartoonists is needlessly provocative. Was Boston provocative for having another marathon after the bombing?

We have never seen the media hate and attacks that have been directed at me directed toward the jihadists who beheaded journalist after journalist (their own!), or toward those who beheaded hundreds of Christians, executed them because they were non-Muslims, or toward the perpetrators of the ongoing genocide of non-Muslims and secular Muslims in Muslim countries.

They make me the story and then call me a shameless self-promoter. Who self-promotes to get herself killed?

If we had a responsible media, they would report more of the positive developments in light of the terror attack. The jihadists were the end of the line. By drawing them out, we exposed their network. We were able to expose the network without getting anyone killed. The FBI is now going after the sources. They are gleaning intel from their computers as we speak. We smoked out a terror structure.

The FBI has put more American terror suspects under constant surveillance following the deadly attack. Every city across U.S. had “subjects of concern.” The military is taking the threat seriously enough to raise the threat level to one of the highest levels it has reached since Sept. 11.

Even the president of Egypt has said that Islam desperately needs a reformation: “that corpus of texts and ideas that we have sacralized over the centuries, to the point that departing from them has become almost impossible, is antagonizing the entire world. It’s antagonizing the entire world! Is it possible that 1.6 billion people should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants – that is 7 billion – so that they themselves may live? Impossible!”

It was the jihadis, not I, who made the cartoons a flashpoint. If we surrender on that point and stop drawing Muhammad, we’ve established a precedent of surrendering to violent Shariah enforcement, and once established, we will be made to reinforce it again and again.
Did anyone think these two gunmen would have lived quiet lives as peaceable and loyal Americans if we hadn’t held the contest? They would have waged jihad elsewhere, on a less protected target, and killed more people.

If we had responsible media, they would be celebrating the police officer who saved scores of lives in the bloody and violent attack on our free-speech conference. He deserves a presidential medal, but don’t hold your breath: Obama saves the Rose Garden for “heroes” like deserter and jihad convert Bowe Abdullah Bergdahl.

Whoever this police officer is, he’s a national hero and ought to be an inspiration to American soldiers and law-enforcement officers everywhere.

G-d bless him and his family. We are forever in his debt.

But we may never know his name, because if he came forward, he would be the object of threats from the jihadis and scorn, ridicule and opprobrium from the enemedia.

How do these people not understand this most basic, elemental concept of freedom?

I didn’t start this holy war, but I won’t lie down and submit, either. And I certainly won’t take the blame. The jihad doctrine and the Shariah incite these devout Muslims, not me.

Laura Ingraham said to me that drawing Muhammad would alienate our Muslim allies that are fighting the Islamic State. Egypt and Jordan are our allies fighting ISIS, and they’ll be angry if we draw Muhammad? So we have to submit to Shariah to fight ISIS? Why don’t these “moderate” nations instead accept freedom of speech?

There are some who see the truth: Mark Steyn, Rich Lowry, David French, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Caroline Glick and others. They’re not fooled by the media’s vicious, unprecedented attacks on me to distract from the real threat. Why are they talking about me and my motives, and not the motives of the Texas jihadists and what they are being taught at their mosque?

In my last few interviews, the enemedia asked for my posthumous remarks. They are evil.

They act as if I am the problem, while ignoring the death fatwa against me by the Islamic State and what it means. The threat illustrates the savagery and barbarism of the Islamic State. They want me dead for violating Shariah blasphemy laws. What remains to be seen is whether the free world will finally wake up and stand for the freedom of speech, or instead kowtow to this evil and continue to denounce me. What’s really frightening and astonishing about this threat is that the media in denouncing me are essentially allying with and even cheering on the Islamic State. I expected this from jihadists. I never expected it from my fellow Americans in the mainstream media.

How much accommodation will we give to murderous savagery?

To kowtow to violent intimidation will only encourage more of it. This is nothing short of the battle between freedom and submission. Everyone must take a stand. That means you.
