An Israeli settler group is under fire for releasing a YouTube video portraying Israeli leftists as collaborators with European anti-Semites.

The video starts out with a man who remains faceless, sitting in a fancy office and reading a newspaper. The paper is called “HASMOL” and the headline declares, “Boycott Israel!” A secretary declares, “Herr Sturmer, the Jew is here.” The jew comes in and Herr Sturmer instructs him to “Do something about children.” and tosses him a Euro coin. The Jew returns, mission accomplished, and the headline now reads, “Israel now kills innocent twenty years old Palestinian babies.” The Jew returns to receive new instructions to do something on the IDF and he is given more money.

The next time he returns, the headlines read, “IDF abuses Hamas’ human rights”. He receives more money and new instructions to do something about checkpoints. The next headlines read, “Gazillion Palestinians stick in Israeli checkpoint.” There are more exchanges implied, and finally the Jew returns and asks, “What now?” The headline now shows a stylized picture of the train tracks leading into Auschwitz. Herr Sturmer gives him some more money and says, “Go, take care of yourself.” The Jew goes outside and hangs himself from a tree. The final caption: The Europeans may seem different to you, but to them…you are exactly the same.” The Jew swings from the branch, dead, as coins fall out of his pocket. As the Jew swings from the tree, the logos from the following organizations are shown: The New Israel Fund, B’Tselem, Yesh Din, Machsom Watch, Rabbis for Human Rights, Peace Now, Breaking the Silence (Shovrim Shtika) and Yesh Gvul.

This video has been compared to posters produced during Netanyahu’s first successful campaign for prime minister and attributed to him, which portrayed Yitzchak Rabin wearing a Nazi uniform. It has since been shown that poster was produced by the Israel internal security service to discredit the extreme right. What makes this cartoon perhaps more palatable is that it is not Jews who are portrayed as Nazis, but the Europeans who enlist them to help discredit Israel.

The video was produced by the Samaria (Shomron) Residents’ Council. The director of the Samaria Residents’ Council, Sagi Keisler, said: “In recent years the support of foreign entities and governments for extreme left-wing organizations in Israel has been increasing. These are foreign governments whose entire purpose is to destroy the lives of the Jews in the Land of Israel in general and beyond the Green Line in particular, and which fund them to the tune of hundreds of millions of Euros. The purpose of the video is to make it clear that in the best case, the Israeli leftist organizations are behaving as useful idiots in the service of modern anti-Semitism. In the worse case, they are consciously acting for the destruction of the State of Israel as the national home of the Jewish people.”
