'They're using the DOJ as their legal arm'

Documents recently released by the Department of Justice in response to a Freedom of Information Act request show agency officials treating members of groups linked to the radical Muslim Brotherhood like “errand boys,” fulfilling their every request and setting them up to perform “gofer” duties, says researcher and activist Pamela Geller.

“In a rational society, these Muslim Brotherhood-linked groups would be marginalized,” Geller told WND. “Instead, the DOJ is playing ‘stepin fetchit’ for them. They’re using the DOJ as their legal arm.”

Founded in Egypt in response to the fall of the Ottoman-Turkish Empire at the end of World War I, the Muslim Brotherhood has declared it aims to destroy Western Civilization from within in an effort ultimately to bring about Islam’s rule over the world.

Geller explained that she filed the request about one year ago, asking for “records relating to the meeting of the ‘Monthly Outreach Meeting’ with Muslim and Arab groups at the Civil Rights Division.”

“The DOJ even takes lunch orders and picks up the tab, and in some cases asks them how much money they need for a little soiree they’re holding. It is astonishing,” she said, describing the documents.

Geller said she immediately was struck by the sheer bulk of the material, with more than 14,000 documents showing nearly daily contact between the Justice Department and Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood groups.

“One thing is clear,” she said, “the Muslim Brotherhood has fully infiltrated command and control at the Department of Justice civil rights division.”

Geller noted that a knowledgeable Justice Department affirmed that the sheer volume was remarkable, declaring there are “very few things in Civil Rights that would generate 14,000 pages of anything. It has got to be a treasure trove of information.”

The emails showed a casual familiarity between members of groups such as the Islamic Society of North American, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and senior officials of the Department of Justice, all the way up to Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez.

“They discuss lunch, vacations, job changes – always with the Muslim Brotherhood groups pushing their narrative, even in these casual exchanges.”

Even more striking, she said, “was the servile demeanor” of Civil Rights Division special counsel Eric Treene and “the demanding condescension of Muslim Brotherhood operatives.”

Treene at one point asks Mohamed Elsanousi of ISNA to circulate among ISNA operatives an invitation to a DOJ seminar on Federal Laws Protecting Religious Freedom.

The DOJ named ISNA, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and other key Muslim groups and figures as unindicted co-conspirators in a scheme to fund the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Evidence in the case, the largest of its kind in American history, showed CAIR was created as a front for the Brotherhood and Hamas in the U.S.

The DOJ holds “inter-agency meetings” with Muslim Brotherhood groups on a regular basis, Geller noted. The emails show Treene circulating issues to be discussed at the meetings that have been submitted by the Islamic groups.

For a May 10, 2010 meeting, for example, Treene sent out a memo regarding “concerns about increase in hate crimes following the Times Square Plot, in particular Jacksonville mosque bombing, Michigan mosque vandalism, and taxi driver assault in San Diego.”

Another request was for update on the “status of March 2002 raids on Northern Virginia charities.”

Another was regarding “questions about measures to prevent profiling in Times Square bombing investigation.”

Geller commented that in response to a massive bomb attack plot in New York that would have dwarfed 9/11, the DOJ was circulating the recommendations of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

“The response is not how to defeat jihad,” she said. “Instead, Americans are attacked again with the false narrative of an ant-Muslim backlash.”

In a Feb. 17, 2011, email, Treene sent ISNA’s Elsanousi the phone number of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Florida, Pam Marsh, who, he says, “wants to do some interfaith outreach” in light of Florida Pastor Terry Jones’s “Put the Quran on Trial Day.”

CAIR’s Julie Shearson wrote to Treene on Oct. 25, 2010: “We really appreciate your outreach to us.”

Geller called the “depth and the breadth of the penetration is difficult to fathom until you see all of these documents going back and forth, and the players.” Geller said…

Also among are CAIR co-founder and director Nihad Awad, Suhail Khan –who accepted an award in 2000 from the now-imprisoned al-Qaida financier Abdurrahman Alamoudi – and the Muslim Guantanamo chaplain James Yee.

Yee, along with three others, was charged with sedition, aiding the enemy, spying, espionage and failure to obey a general order.

The charges later were dropped when Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller cited “national security concerns that would arise from the release of the evidence.”

Yee, Geller noted, gave an interview on Syrian television in Arabic in which he repeated detainees’ lies of Quran abuse by the U.S. military.

Awad, Khan, Yee and many others received a Sept. 8, 2011, letter from Perez touting all the Justice Department’s actions on behalf of Muslims, including a suit against the city of Lilburn, Ga., for resisting the expansion of a mosque and a friend-of-the-court brief calling for dismissal of a suit brought by Murfreesboro, Tenn., citizens against a mosque proposed by Islamic supremacists.

The agenda of the Oct. 14, 2011, “Interagency Meeting” included “NYPD intelligence gathering,” “anti-Shariah legislation” and the Alex Odeh murder investigation.

Odeh, the West Coast director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, was killed by a pipe bomb in 1985. The perpetrator has never been found, but the ADC claims that the Jews were responsible. Failure to find a suspect, the group contends, is evidence that the Justice Department discriminates against “Palestinians.”

Muslim groups repeatedly have pressed the Justice Department to reopen the case to show that Muslims are not the only ones who commit acts of terror, Geller pointed out.

“So here we have Islamic supremacist groups using the DOJ to go after Jews,” she said, and the “servile” Treene “compliantly put this matter on the agenda of one of his many meetings to hear the demands of Muslim groups.”
