30-Ton Shipment Of Explosive Chemical Disappears Between California And Wyoming

A 30-ton shipment of ammonium nitrate, a chemical used as both fertilizer and as a component in explosives, has gone missing during a rail shipment between Wyoming and California last month, resulting in four separate investigations.

The Dyno Nobel plant near Cheyenne, Wyoming, where the 60,000-pound shipment of ammonium nitrate originated. (The Center for Land Use Interpretation)

A railcar loaded with some 60,000 pounds of the chemical left Cheyenne, Wyoming on April 12, only to be found empty two weeks later at a rail stop in the Mojave Desert, according to a short incident report from the firm which shipped the ammonium, KQEDreports.

Ammonium nitrate is commonly used as fertilizer. It’s also an ingredient in high explosives and was used in the homemade bomb detonated in the 1995 attack on the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

According to Dyno Nobel, the Ammonium – transferred in pellet form in a covered hopper car similar to those used to ship coal – must have fallen from the car on the way to a rail siding (where a short track connects with the main track) around 30 miles from the town of Mojave in eastern Kern County, in a city called Saltdale.

This is a very dangerous situation not knowing who has these
chemicals.
A substance like ammonium nitrate just does not disappear like that. Possibly an inside job. Will there be another bombing and who knows where? This is a scary situation.

In August 2020, a store of 2700 tons of Ammonium Nitrate detonated in Lebanon with the equivalent of about 1 kiloton of TNT. The Hiroshima bomb was about 15 kilotons of TNT for comparison. The 30 ton “lost” railroad shipment would yield a 0.001 kiloton explosion and is small in comparison. For further comparison Timothy McVeigh’s bomb was about 0.001 kilotons of TNT because he had other explosive components in addition to the Ammonium Nitrate for his 7500 lb. bomb.

One ton of ammonium nitrate fertilizes about 12 acres of corn, so 30 ton lots are routinely purchased by farmers on a regular basis to grow food. I do not believe that there is any permitting system for ammonium nitrate purchases.

In any event, “losing” such a shipment is purely negligent, and results in untraceable ammonium nitrate if it is to be used for nefarious purposes.

McVeigh was a scapegoat just like Oswald. Funny how the government executed McVeigh quickly, they wasted no time. A Truck with middle easterners in it was outside the building when it was bombed. There were documents that the government wanted destroyed in the building. Funny that none of the Federal agents were in the building when it was bombed. They knew ahead of time that building was going to be blown up.

Maybe it dribbled out of a poorly secured hatch underneath the car. I’m not a rail safety expert, a member of the FBI or a $lave of Allan.

Questions:
1. Who stopped the train?
2. Who uncoupled the car?
3. Who side tracked the car?
4. How was the car moved to the “side track”?
5. Who “re-coupled” the train?
6. About how much time delay was involved in the above?
[Trains [generally] run on a known time schedule, don’t they?]
7. Was the train reported late for its next stop – or not?

Just asking.
And, you??
