Chicago’s new mayor, Brandon Johnson, may turn out to be a worse mayor than the incumbent. His occupation is an organizer for the teachers unions. The unions spent several million dollars on the race. They got their man.

Mark down Tuesday, April 4, as the night Chicago died. 

That’s when we learned that Second City voters narrowly elected Brandon Johnson as their next mayor. This is a city that was flattened during the reign of Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who lost in the first round of voting for Chicago mayor because she didn’t finish in one of the top two spots.

Ms. Lightfoot, elected in 2019 after a career as a federal prosecutor who then held several appointed positions in Chicago, shut down the city for more than a year during Covid. She also bankrupted small businesses, allowed rioters to burn down whole neighborhoods, presided over the worst crime wave in 50 years and let the schools go to hell.

Now, the voters have selected Mr. Johnson. Elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners in 2018, Mr. Johnson narrowly won the mayoralty of America’s third-most-populous city on April 4 over Paul Vallas, a former Chicago schools chief executive and a Democrat who presented himself as a political moderate compared to the far-left Mr. Johnson.

The incoming mayor may turn out to be a worse mayor than Ms. Lightfoot. Mr. Johnson’s occupation is an organizer for the teachers unions. The unions spent several million dollars on the race. They got their man.

What this means is that Chicago’s municipal government will now be a fully owned subsidiary of the Chicago Teachers Union. (Can you imagine what the union contracts are going to look like?) This is a city where, in roughly two dozen schools, zero children can read or write at proficiency level.

Mr. Johnson said that crime and shoplifting from local schools are societal problems. And he may continue Ms. Lightfoot’s policy of not prosecuting people who rob stores — often owned by minorities.

It’s not just Chicago that has become a war zone. Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco were not so long ago the crown jewels of the West Coast. They were said to be progressive cities that worked. No more.

Now, they are unlivable. San Francisco is overrun with homeless people on seemingly every downtown street corner, feces on the sidewalks and trash everywhere.

In Portland, major businesses are pulling out in the aftermath of the takeover of the radical anarchists during Covid. Crime is so rampant that Walmart recently said “adios,” shutting down its last store.

Rains PDX, a clothing store in Portland, shut down last November after a string of break-ins made it impossible to stay open. This printed sign pasted on the door says it all:

“Small businesses (and large) cannot sustain doing business, in our city’s current state. We have no protection, or recourse, against the criminal behavior that goes unpunished. Do not be fooled into thinking that insurance companies cover losses. We have sustained 15 break-ins … We have not received any financial reimbursement since the 3rd.”

For the first time, Seattle is losing population. To be “progressive,” Seattle is imposing a massive capital gains tax increase — socking it to the rich. So they are fleeing the city and Washington state.

One of the nation’s top demographers, Wendell Cox, has been analyzing the just-released Census Bureau data on county population. He found that “during the late 2010s and before the pandemic, population growth and domestic migration transitioned toward smaller metropolitan areas from larger ones. That outmigration is accelerating.”

The nation’s 10 largest counties have lost more than 1 million residents since 2019. The biggest losers have been the counties that are home to New York and San Francisco and Chicago’s Cook County. Even Los Angeles County, the nation’s most populous county, with just under 10 million people, is now contracting.

Welcome to the real-world impact of progressivism. Instead of worker paradises, the Left has transitioned our once-shining cities into slums, murder zones, homeless encampments and boarded-up stores.

That horrible Joe Biden and those who hold in him power in the White House irrational and stupid if not outright evil because they want to defund the police.

One thing is for sure, which is if the police force is defunded then there in American cities and even towns there a drastic raise in crime especially heinous vile violent murderous crimes, as rapes and murderers along with rapes and the murder of the rapes victims. There would be more kidnappings and then along with that, many times, the torture and murder of the innocent people who had been kidnapped. Also more robberies and vicious violent assaults on peaceful people by hooligans and well as more vile sex assaults.

There would be a sharp and awful increase of wife and child abuse. In addition there would be a terrible large inflation of riots along with the arson, looting and vandalism that is always part of it.

There would even in non-riots be an increase in home and business break- in’s with looting vandalism and physical harm committed against the peaceful people by thugs.

There can be no doubt that many people who now want the police to be defunded would be first to complain if they would become a victims of hooligans.

In conclusion the police definitely be well funded and supported and never defunded.

CHICAGO loves their tyrannical Leaders, their FALSE PROPHETS AND LEADERS WHO TELL THEM ONE THING, but then do another or nothing at all. IT IS ALL THESE SHEEP KNOW. What they wanted, was what they got and WORSE than before.

I just hope and pray my RED STATE does not elect a COMMUNIST as Mayor, Senator, or Governor. It is bad enough we have a few Democrat Reps.

The perception of “killing” is only from our point of view
In theirs, these are the new bastions of communism from which they will launch their conquests to transform the country.
We saw this occur in Europe where large cities became communist safehouses and social experimentation labs, but with their large populations, they can sway the whole country to the left. In the USA it is the state they’re after.
NY is a blue state but isn’t actually. It just has NYC as a blue city.
LA and SF have become lunatic shitholes before CA followed suit on the state level
Gavin was even one of those crazy mayors in SF before ascending state side to ruin all of the state on the model of SF

t isn’t just the cities the democrats are killing, they’re killing the people too – killing babies up to 28 days after they’ve been aborted live, mandating toxic vaccines that kill people in sports & health care workers & children who don’t need vaccines, starting wars that kill our soldiers, and worst of all, killing our freedom.

Just like Obama. We tried here in Chicago to tell you guys he’s a Socialist through and through. Hannity tried – the GOP didn’t listen. Afraid to criticise a black guy.
This Johnson dude is a straight-up Commie, Teachers union organizational thug – who has never managed or lead anything in his life. What a mess. The black community will suffer the most – just you watch.

‘GREAT’ to me means way different for me than what you describe in your article.

GREAT is acknowledging that THE PEOPLE rule over their leaders.
GREAT is acknowledging that G-D is the benefactor FOR US ALL.
GREAT is having the wisdom and humility to know you can do nothing without G-D.
GREAT is overcoming ‘defeating’ obstacles.
GREAT is never giving up.

Chicago may have been the BUSINESS HUB of America for years, but NO LONGER. THAT did not make Chicago GREAT. PEOPLE MADE CHICAGO GREAT and most of them have DIED. Now all that is left is the chaff and even that is standing along side the WEEDS.

I can understand why people vote Democrat on the crime issue. If you’re a criminal, even just a shoplifter, you know you’re more likely to go to jail if a Republican or moderate democrat is elected. You know that if a Democrat is elected your more likely to get a handout to deal with what the Democrat says is the root cause, poverty. If you’re a criminal you know you’re more likely to be able to get what you want whether it be stolen goods or to be able to kill your unborn baby if you want to. The abortion issue is why Kathy Hochul beat Lee Zeldin in New York. We have criminals voting, we have people like George Soros funding organizations that get those criminals to vote.
