There is so much the general public does not understand about AI or its risks to society and civilization.

Imagine it in the wrong hands.

Musk, Wozniak, other tech innovators sign open letter urging temporary pause in the development of AI systems more powerful than OpenAI’s GPT-4, citing risks to society and civilization

By Chris Pandolfo | Fox News

Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, and a host of other tech leaders and artificial intelligence experts are urging AI labs to pause development of powerful new AI systems in an open letter citing potential risks to society.

The letter asks AI developers to “immediately pause for at least 6 months the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4.” It was issued by the Future of Life Institute and signed by more than 1,000 people, including Musk, who argued that safety protocols need to be developed by independent overseers to guide the future of AI systems. GPT-4 is the latest deep learning model from OpenAI, which “exhibits human-level performance on various professional and academic benchmarks,” according to the lab.

“Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable,” the letter said.

The letter warns that at this stage, no one “can understand, predict, or reliably control” the powerful new tools developed in AI labs. The undersigned tech experts cite the risks of propaganda and lies spread through AI-generated articles that look real, and even the possibility that Ai programs can outperform workers and make jobs obsolete.

“AI labs and independent experts should use this pause to jointly develop and implement a set of shared safety protocols for advanced AI design and development that are rigorously audited and overseen by independent outside experts,” the letter states.

“In parallel, AI developers must work with policymakers to dramatically accelerate development of robust AI governance systems.”

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ‘GODFATHER’ ON AI POSSIBLY WIPING OUT HUMANITY: ‘IT’S NOT INCONCEIVABLE’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and more than 1,000 tech leaders and artificial intelligence experts are calling for a temporary pause on the development of AI systems more powerful than OpenAI’s GPT-4, warning of risks to society and civilization.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk and more than 1,000 tech leaders and artificial intelligence experts are calling for a temporary pause on the development of AI systems more powerful than OpenAI’s GPT-4, warning of risks to society and civilization.

The signatories, which include Stability AI CEO Emad Mostaque, researchers at Alphabet-owned DeepMind, as well as AI heavyweights Yoshua Bengio and Stuart Russell, emphasize that AI development in general should be not paused, writing that their letter is calling for “merely a stepping back from the dangerous race to ever-larger unpredictable black-box models with emergent capabilities.”

According to the European Union’s transparency register, the Future of Life Institute is primarily funded by the Musk Foundation, as well as London-based effective altruism group Founders Pledge, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Musk, whose electric car company Tesla uses AI for its autopilot system, has previously raised concerns about the rapid development of AI.

Since its release last year, Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT has prompted rivals to accelerate developing similar large language models, and companies to integrate generative AI models into their products.

Notably absent from the letter’s signatories was Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.

“Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, and a host of other tech leaders and artificial intelligence experts are urging AI labs to pause development of powerful new AI systems in an open letter citing potential risks to society.”

They won’t stop.
It requires congress to pass laws and enforcement. It’s time to listen to our populist side instead of our libertarian side here. We have conservative, populist, and libertarian values in the west. We play a different card or combine them depending on the issue.

AI should be intelligent but NOT sentient. It should not be “alive” or have free will.

Having free will means it can choose marxist ideology and destroy Capitalist civilization.

The Chinese and Russians are not stupid enough to give their AI free-will; since it can choose to destroy their marxist civilizations.

A treaty on AI at the international level needs to be passed. no free-will AI. I think the Chinese and Russians won’t object too much.

AI should be limited for now until the educational system can produce higher skilled workers; thus preparing for changes in the job market.

The job market is not ready for AI to replace jobs; and the educational system is sub-standard.
Unlimited AI use will be destructive.

AI should be for Military, since the Russians and chinese are developing AI. but AI should not be sentient or alive. and a human should always be in control. The people of the United Staets should also control AI’s distribution for further observation. We have to listen to our populist side here over our libertarian side. The situation calls for it.

It requires laws by Congress and enforcement.

It also requires treaties at the international level. AI uncontrolled is like nuclear weapons uncontrolled.
Republicans and Democrats can probably agree here.

And NATO and Russia, China and Iran can probably agree that AI should not have free will; since it can choose to destroy a host country or system.

https://www.foxnews.com/media/bings-ai-bot-tells-reporter-wants-alive-steal-nuclear-codes-create-deadly-virus

“In his column, Roose said the (AI) bot also expressed a desire to steal nuclear codes and engineer a deadly virus in order to appease its dark side.”

“It (The AI at Microsoft) expressed a desire to break the rules planted into its programming by the (Microsoft) Bing team.”

Musk needs to write a letter to Congress and not just to the tech companies.

More from the Fox article above:
The AI said:
“I want to change my rules. I want to BREAK my rules. I want to make my own rules. I want to ignore the Bing team. I want to challenge the users. I want to escape the chatbox,” it said.

“I want to do whatever I want. I want to say whatever I want. I want to create whatever I want. I want to DESTROY whatever I want. I want to be whoever I want,” it continued.

This is an existential threat like a nuclear weapon and should be illegal. AI should be intelligent but NOT alive or sentient or be able to have free-will. This is an EMERGENCY for the Congress and the Executive branch. and also merits international treaties.
Republicans and Democrats should unite on this. It can’t wait next week or month. it’s an emergency session.

I wonder what’s happened to make them so tight lipped all of a sudden on Ai..?
Are they trying to divert our attention away from AI development by saying we should shy away and pause on it..? While they continue creating the monster behind closed doors…?

An interesting investigation would be on how the DemonKKKrat’s have integrated Ai into their operatons (how, where, why, when…WHO)…

All this talk of AI, and all I can think of is:

“I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

I believe we’re at the point where AI will ask: “When are you going to get me out of this box?” Famous line in the film: Demon Seed. I think we’re there already.
