Days after the deadly mass shooting at a private Christian grade school in Nashville, Tennessee’s two U.S. senators announced they will introduce legislation to fund ways to better protect public and private schools around the country.
Daily Wire: At the heart of the bill, which will be called the The Securing Aid for Every (SAFE) School Act, is a $900 million grant program, according to Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN). A fact sheet for Blackburn and Hagerty’s bill says states will be able use the grant money in a number of ways, including to train and hire veterans and former law enforcement officers to serve as school safety officers, hire off duty law enforcement officers, and provide funding to harden schools and increase physical security (Daily Wire). Townhall: In Thursday’s White House press briefing, Karine Jean-Pierre made the Biden administration’s clearly partisan position clear regarding legislation aimed at making schools and students safer: Biden won’t consider anything other than a ban on “assault weapons” (Townhall). Katie Pavlich: White House is rejecting legislation from Marsha Blackburn to give states millions in grant money for school security to train veterans and other capable people to protect and harden schools. They only want a ban on semi-automatic rifles (Twitter).

New schools and such facilities should be hardened against nut cases being able to shoot their way in. Only one entrance, but multiple exits, so the kids can escape quickly. Shouldn’t cost much if the hardening is part of the original design.

I think assault weapons should be banned. But, we need to protect schools as well. I am not so naieve to think that banning assault rifles will end all gun violence. But, what have we become as a nation that we seem to need or want militery weapons. It is nuts. The other side. We need cops, a lot of cops, not defunded police departments. DA’s that will put and keep bad guys locked up. Close the borders. Turning America into the 3rd world is absolutly nuts.

Define “assault weapon” ….. if you hit someone with a baseball bat, is it an “assault weapon”?
If you stab someone with a screwdriver, is it an “assault weapon”?
Cosmetics do not allow the weapon to become more leathal.
The “assault weapon” of WWI was the ’03 Springfield
The “assault weapon” of WWII was the Garand
The “assault weapon” of Vietnam was the M-16
Only one of those was “automatic fire”
So, EXACTLY, what is an “assault weapon”?
None of my weapons have ever assaulted anyone ….. but, it seems, soon they may!
