Retired FBI boss says agency has lost independence, been co-opted by liberal DOJ ideologues

Former Assistant Director Chris Swecker says bureau has been pressured into improper domestic spying, censorship.

In a stunning rebuke, the FBI’s retired chief of criminal investigations says his old agency has yielded the independence Congress gave it under the law and is now subservient to a group of liberal ideologues inside the Justice Department who have pressured agents to stray into unwarranted domestic spying and censorship.

Ex-FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker on Tuesday became the latest law enforcement or political figure to support creating an independent commission modeled after the U.S. Senate’s 1970s Church Committee to investigate the FBI’s practices and impose reforms on the storied law enforcement agency.

He told Just the News that the bureau’s problems start with the politicization of its ranks by DOJ.

“What I see is that it’s basically a wholesale takeover by the Department of Justice, which is filled with political appointees in every top position, and then by extension, right into the administration,” Swecker said in a wide-ranging interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

“You see DOJ people — and many of the top executive positions inside the FBI now — you see people that have made a career out of bouncing in and out of silk-stocking law firms between the Department of Justice and then these law firms. And I have to say they are incredibly liberal in their politics. And that has now sort of taken over the FBI, and they are inserting that ideology into their high-profile investigations.”

Swecker, a lawyer himself, said one of the many tell-tale signs that the FBI has lost its independence is the bureau’s relationship with Big Tech firms, as exposed by recent internal file releases by Twitter and a lawsuit filed by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri.

The original partnerships, he said, were designed to legitimately counter foreign influence operations on U.S. social media but have since evolved into spying and censorship operations impacting Americans.

“The FBI has an industry outreach program to help exchange information with industry, helping in the counterintelligence efforts of the FBI. This has gone well beyond that,” he said. “This is nothing but domestic spying, and this is nothing but suppression of First Amendment rights and ideas.”

He said the bureau’s role in pressuring Twitter and other social media and search sites to censor Americans “needs to be the first line of inquiry” in a new Congress.

A growing number of prominent figures — including House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, incoming House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and retired FBI intelligence chief Kevin Brock — have embraced the idea that Congress should create a blue-ribbon panel modeled after the 1970s Church Committee to probe where the FBI has gone astray and to craft meaningful reforms.

Swecker said he believes that is a good approach, noting that while he remains friends with Christopher Wray, the current FBI director has allowed his agency to lose significant public trust.

“The Church Committee was a full inquiry into what were perceived to be some very serious abuses by the FBI in the domestic surveillance area, in terms of watching U.S. citizens doing things involving U.S. citizens that were considered to be abuses of their power,” he said. “And I think we’ve come full circle here.”

Swecker said the FBI’s involvement in labeling school parents “domestic terrorists,” and its “bare-knuckles” pursuit of Donald Trump contrasted with its “kid gloves cases” against Hillary Clinton, Andrew McCabe and Hunter Biden have not only shaken public trust but also the internal confidence of the FBI.

“I’m telling you the retired agent community and many agents inside the FBI on active duty are saying this needs to be looked at,” he said. “I’m not big fan of congressional inquiries, but they need to shine some light on this.”

Swecker has some experience in independent inquiries: he chaired the independent commission that investigated the culture at the U.S. Army Fort Hood that led to the murder of a female soldier.

The Fundamental Transformation of the United States of America

The neo-communists have been ruling academia since the Frankfurt School was integrated into the US University system starting right after WWII.
That churned out generation and generation of leftists who moved into the media.
As the famous Frankfurter, Gramsci stated, Marxism marches through the institutions.
Communists know that they cannot win elections if revealing their true selves.
So they infiltrate institutions to facilitate their people to access key positions in society.
After the colleges, unions, and the media came businesses and the agencies of the state.
After 911 when the security state was expanded and the restrictions on it lifted the left wasted no time infiltrating the CIA, the NSA even, the DOJ and via the DOJ the FBI.

One may wonder that this sounds counter-intuitive because why would America-hating progressives want to serve The MAN? Why would leftists who call America a great colonizer want to join the CIA.
We were under the false impression that those who work on our internal and external security are patriots by definition. Many of them are, for sure.
Yet on the top of these organizations, we have started to see real radicals emerge.
Brennan was a real card-carrying communist. Obama’s white stepfather was a CIA man.
Comey, on paper a republican is also someone who praised and aligned with Marxists in college.
I started being really suspicious about the CIA when that creepy Michael Scheuer emerged and openly blamed Israel and the USA for Islamic terrorism. He was supposedly the team leader on the Bin Laden file.
And this goes back to the previous point about who joins these spook agencies. Conservative constitutionalists?
– Really?
Can you imagine a libertarian CIA agent?
” We will bug this guy’s phone”
” We will kidnap so and so”
Really?
A constitutionalist or libertarian would not feel comfortable doing these things.
A progressive would.
It was after all the Soviets that created the most intrusive and fanatic intelligence agencies.
From the Checka to the NKVD to the KGB to the current FSB. All made of Soviet loyalists.
Why would this be so different in the West?
Progressives make better spies because they have less gut wrench about imposing surveillance and act outside of constitutional norms (esp abroad) as they don’t have the instinctive resistance to these methods and tactics. The end justifies the means approach fits much better with progressives than conservatives.
They are thus more naturally a fit to work in this field.
Obama knew this, or the people behind him did and stuffed the DOJ, FBI, CIA, NSA, and even the IRS with hard-core progressives, even communists, and created a surveillance state that could, unfortunately, compete with the KGB or the STASI as it went after Americans and allies alike and expended its duties from protecting the homeland to protecting and pushing an ideology.
At the same time, all major institutions of government were also stacked with these radicals so anyone in the nation wanting to climb the career ladder in government had to be one who aligned with the cultural Marxist / Woke movement.
Trump wanted to expose and resists this and found few allies even among the GOP to take this on because everybody has secrets and once the cat was out of the bag, all those that ran America, from Senators to Congressmen to diplomats and even leaders in the private sector became subject of surveillance and blackmail. It doesn’t even have to be direct, just implied.
Therefore Trump was left to hang alone with a few of his idealist supporters as everyone understood the threat Chuck Schumer so eloquently explained on MSNBC about taking on the intel agencies.
It was just a matter of time that the CIA’s tactics and MO that works abroad were being re-imported back home and turned against America, especially in terms of propaganda / psychological warfare and election meddling.
The Russia hoax was rehearsed during Brexit and in the attacks on EU members who resisted wokeness like the governments of Hungary and the Czech Republic. Then expanded to Italy and France and became the international standard to enforce globalist progressive values and policies.
Oppose the mass Islamic migration into your tiny nation-state?
You’re working for Putin!
Do you want to leave the EU?
Well, you are the FSB!
Oppose radical LGBTQ Trans ideology?
Russian stooge!
And so on…
Soon enough this and other tactics used abroad came to America and all this culminated with Covid and its use to steal 2020 using social media that the spooks co-opted and made into their contractors, plus the Chinese tactics imposed on Western society via the WHO which is also a branch of Chinese intelligence.
This brings up China and the protection it enjoyed from the intelligence community over the spreading of covid. The CIA ran a complete distraction operation to protect China.
It became an ally against the menace of the populists who demanded that very accountability from the communist state.
As I am writing this we see revelations like Peter Daszak being on the CIA payroll.
What is going on?
Is our intel community in bed with the Chinese?
It sure looks that way.
The head of the FBI responding to criticism over the letting loose of CCP police stations throughout the USA (and Canada, UK, Australia, NZ, France, Sweden, Poland, Hungary, and Germany) said that he didn’t like that China didn’t coordinate with them properly!
Seriously?
Can you imagine if in the 70s the KGB had set up stations inside the USA and the FBI’s only response would be criticism of the KGB for lack of coordination?
What seems to be happening is a distribution of territories and assets with China like the deal FDR signed at Yalta selling a third of Europe to Stalin in exchange for Greece and some other things (probably a negotiated deal over parameters drawn between the two superpowers).
I suspect this is how Brazil was sold to China with its last “election” as the obsessed support for the Chinese-backed communist, Lula was on full display from Biden down to Sullivan and this is how China got away with the covid attack on the West as the CIA was probably caught there doing things it didn’t want exposure for so in a quid pro quo China was protected and the mutual enemy of both China and the Deep State, Trump destroyed with Communist-style lockdowns pushed by Fauci and his Chinese linked “scientists”.
Which became part two of the Fundamental Transformation of the USA from the Constitutional Republic into a semi-totalitarian oligarchy run by state-aligned private sector players and the intelligence networks.
A real hybrid of China and Russia inserted into the USA’s system of government with a media that acts not as its check but as its enforcer.
A dark state of play.

Happy January 6th!

Anyone at the FBI who ‘went along’ with the UNLAWFUL ACTS OF TREASON as ordered by their “boss” is just as guilty as their “boss” and they must be hanged for their crimes.
They should have upheld their SWORN OATH to the Constitution and arrested their “boss”.
Compliance has Consequence.
