“Moderate” Fatah Praises Terrorist Murderers As ‘Martyrs’

In the popular imagination, Fatah is the “moderate” Palestinian group with which the West, and Israel, can do business, as opposed to the “extremists” who belong to the terror groups Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the PFLP. In reality Fatah, and the Palestinian Authority in which Fatah constitutes the largest faction, do many things to promote terrorism. The PA’s “Pay-For-Slay” program provides generous subsidies to imprisoned terrorists, and to the families of those terrorists who died during their attacks. This both rewards past, and incentivizes future terrorism. Under American pressure to stop the program, Mahmoud Abbas insisted that he would continue to support the “Pay-For-Slay” program forever, “even unto my last penny.” But that is not the only way that Fatah, and the PA, promote terrorism. The PA also names schools, streets, sports competitions after terrorists, thus celebrating their murderous attacks, and holding them up for emulation by the young. Furthermore, Palestinian children’s television shows show tiny tots holding their pretend-knives, and making stabbing motions as they declare their readiness to “kill Jews.”

A report on the latest extravagant praise from Fatah for Palestinian terrorists is here.

The two Palestinian murderers who killed eight people in two separate terror attacks in central Tel Aviv and in Bnei Br’ak near Tel Aviv, have been named “pure and heroic Martyrs” by Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement.

Terrorist Ra’ad Hazem shot and murdered three Israeli civilians, and wounded 14 others, when he opened fire on a crowded bar on Dizengoff Street in central Tel Aviv on April 7, 2022.

Terrorist Diya Ahmed Hassan Hamarsheh, a Fatah member himself, shot and murdered five people — two Israeli civilians, one Israeli police officer, and two foreign workers from Ukraine — in Bnei Brak on March 29, 2022.

Murderers of civilians in cold blood are described by Mahmoud Abbas as “heroic Martyrs.” But Washington did not denounce Abbas for this chilling remark. The Bidenites have a stake in presenting Abbas as a “partner for peace” who will negotiate with Israel in good faith, not as someone who on every occasion celebrates terrorists. The Bidenites are running interference for Abbas, dismissing or ignoring his glowing statements on terrorists and their murders. There is no downside to this for Abbas: he can make his chilling remarks on the murder of Jews, so as to keep or win back the support for the P.A. on the Arab street, without endangering the support given to him by the Bidenites, both in money, and in their policy, which includes their declared intent to allow a “consulate to the Palestinians” to re-open in Jerusalem, and to allow as well the terrorist PLO to re-open the office in Washington that the Trump administration had closed.

Fatah Secretary in Jenin Ata Abu Rmeileh celebrated these crimes as part of the “triumph over the occupation,” and stressed Fatah’s admiration for the murderers. He vowed that “we adhere to the covenant and the oath to these Martyrs” and to arch-terrorist Abu Jihad who was behind the murder of at least 125 Israelis:”

Fatah Secretary in Jenin Ata Abu Rmeileh: “The Jenin district is triumphing, triumphing over the occupation. … As a sign of support for the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and the pure Martyrs and heroic Martyrs Ra’ad [Hazem], Diya [Hamarsheh], and all the Martyrs, today we light the torch of freedom and the torch of the prisoners to emphasize that we adhere to the covenant and “the oath to these Martyrs and to the Martyr leader, the First Stone and the First Bullet, Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad.”

During Ramadan, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) documented the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Fatah’s encouragement of Palestinians to carry out attacks and kill Israelis.

Not only did PA President Abbas send condolences to the family of murderer Ra’ad Hazem, but the PA actively incited riots and terror using the PA libel that the Al-Aqsa Mosque is being “desecrated” by Jews.

Mahmoud Abbas tore off his “moderate” mask yet again in sending condolences to the family of Ra’ed Hazem, who killed three patrons at a bar in Tel Aviv. And the PA has continued to claim that the Israelis were “desecrating” Al-Aqsa Mosque, the falsehood that creates so much hysteria and hate among the Palestinians, In its incitement, the “moderate” PA is no different than Hamas, the PIJ, and the PFLP.

One imam directly called for the “extermination of the evil Jews,” while another asked Allah to “liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the defilement of the evil Jews” — and both requests were broadcast live by official PA TV. Abbas’ own advisor also fueled the terror wave, teaching Palestinians that “Ramadan is … not a month of laziness but rather … a month of Jihad, conquest, and victory.”

The PA did not have to broadcast the blood-curdling remarks by imams calling for the “extermination of the evil Jews” and asking Allah to “liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the defilement of the evil Jews” on its official PA, but chose to do so, knowing full well the effect such statements would make on the Palestinian audience. The only “defilement” of Al-Aqsa has been that carried out by the Muslim Arabs who used the mosque as a storehouse for weapons, and for fighters who threw rocks and Molotov cocktails from inside the mosque at Israeli police outside who pursued them \ after they had thrown rocks and Molotov cocktails at Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall far below, and then at the Israeli police who tried to halt them. It’s true that the police ran into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, but that was not to disrupt the services, but to seize the stockpiled weapons and to remove those who had been using them – in other words, not to disrupt the Al-Aqsa services, but to remove those who were putting the building to nefarious use, and disrupting the prayers of thousands of peaceful Muslim worshippers.

Even as many Palestinians — including teenagers — heeded these calls and attacked Israelis, one Fatah official stressed that “we love Martyrdom-death as we love life.”

PMW also recently revealed the chilling chant of Palestinians: “How sweet it is to kill Jews.”

“Moderate” Fatah officials continued throughout the recent rioting on the Temple Mount to whip up hatred against the “evil Jews.” They praised “Martyrdom” – meaning in this case the deaths of those who died while killing Jews, and chanted about “how sweet it is to kill Jews.”

Both Fatah, and the PA, need to have their masks ripped off. They are not “moderate.” They should not be given American aid. They should not be supported in their diplomatic demarches at the U.N., where Israel is perennially In the dock, but opposed at every turn. The PA differs from Hamas not in their goals, but only in matters of timing and tactics. The Fast Jihadists of Hamas want to destroy Israel through warfare and terror. The Slow Jihadists of the PA want to destroy Israel through diplomacy, first by squeezing Israel back within the 1949 armistice lines, stripping it of its indispensable defenses in the Jordan Valley and the Golan, and leaving it with a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea. Only once that has been accomplished, and Israel deemed to have been sufficiently weakened, will the PA be ready, with outside allies such as Iran, to go in for the kill. The PA’s extravagant praise of the recent terrorist acts in Tel Aviv and Bnei Brak should give the Bidenites pause. But It won’t; in Washington the men in high places are dead set on promoting the PA as a suitable “partner for peace” with Israel. And the Israelis will be the ones to pay for that dreamy belief.
