Tuesday was a strong night for America’s pro-Israel community. AIPAC’s political action committee did a fine job of supporting candidates who were running against anti-Israel extremists. The Valerie Foushee victory is significant. That is because NC progressives withdrew their endorsement of Foushee, because of her ties to AIPAC. AIPAC must continue to confront and defeat anti-Israel Democrats if it wants to restore it’s credibility.

Valerie Foushee beats Israel critic in North Carolina House Democratic primary

State Sen. Valerie Foushee has won the Democratic primary in North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District to replace retiring Rep. David Price, beating out a more left-wing opponent who proved a virulent critic of Israel while support for it remains high.
Foushee, a veteran of state politics, espouses a liberal platform that would make abortion access a priority, combat racial discrimination, and support policies to address climate change. The Durham-area district is one of the safest Democratic seats in the country, and Foushee will likely sail to victory in November.
