ISIS plot to blow up Virginia malls: Cops increase security at shopping centers after receiving warning that the terror group is plotting an attack just miles from the nation’s capitol

• Cops in Northern Virginia have been warned by ISIS of a potential threat at malls and shopping centers, according to Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis 
• Increased law enforcement will continue through Halloween weekend and into Tuesday – Election Day – when McAuliffe and Youngkin compete for governor 
• Officers were already reportedly patrolling the area around Fair Oaks Mall, which is located 20miles outside of Washington, DC 
• Earlier this week Department of Homeland Security’s intelligence chief John Cohen said ISIS wants individuals to act on their own in lone-wolf attacks 
• US intelligence agencies also said they believe the Islamic State in Afghanistan could develop the capability to attack the United States in as little as six months
• The worrisome announcements come after the rapid end of America’s 20-year war, which resulted in the death of 13 US troops killed in an ISIS-K suicide attack

Northern Virginia authorities were on high alert following an ISIS threat against malls and shopping centers outside the US capital this weekend.

Police were stepping up their presence through Halloween into the runup of Election Day, according to CBS News.

“We have increased our police presence throughout the county to include major thoroughfares, transit hubs, shopping plazas and shopping malls,” Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis reportedly said Friday.

A federal intelligence chief said this week that the terror group is pushing lone wolves to attack targets without support, the article stated.

“Right now we’re seeing a dramatic increase — or an increase — in online activity by media operations associated with different al Qaeda elements and Islamic State,” said John Cohen, Department of Homeland Security intelligence chief, according to the network.
