Palestinian Family Praised For Naming A Child ‘Eichmann’

The latest item from the annals of Palestinian atrocity can be found here.

The official newspaper of the Palestinian Authority – that’s the “moderate” PA, run by that mild-mannered accountant Mahmoud Abbas – has just run a piece praising a Palestinian family for having named one of its children “Eichmann,” after the Nazi war criminal who is considered to have been the mastermind of the Holocaust, the man who organized the murder – by gassing, by shooting, by burning to death, by hanging – of six million Jewish men, women, and children.

Musa Abu Atwan, who commanded armed groups against Israel and served time in prison, ‘gave birth to a son and gave him the name Eichmann to anger Zionism,’ Al-Hayat Al-Jadida said, citing his “love for his homeland.” After Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency executed the Nazi leader in June 1962, Musa said, ‘The one who burned the Jews out of hatred has passed on, and the Palestinian Eichmann has been born.’”

Musa Abu Atwan has his facts wrong. The Mossad captured Eichmann at his house on Garibaldi Street, Buenos Aires, and spirited him back to Israel. But it was the Israeli government, not Mossad, that was responsible for executing Eichmann. After his execution, Musa Abu Atwan, head of a family raised to kill Jews, announced that he had just named a newborn son “Eichmann,” signaling that the torch of Jew-killer had now passed from the dead Eichmann to his Arab namesake. What’s more, the name itself was sure to enrage “the Jews.”

The daily wrote that Eichmann himself [Eichman Abu Musa Abu Atwan] also took action against Israel, and was arrested in 1989. When he left prison he had a child named Al-Ghadanfar, a Fatah member from the town of Dura in the Hebron district who is serving time in prison. He has been detained since October 2020 and he is an officer in the PA customs police forces, according to Al-Hayat Al-Jadida.

What a proud dynasty of would-be murderers of Jews. There is the father, Musa Abu Atwan, who fought Israelis – but how he fought them we are not told, and as he was imprisoned by Israel he had most likely been engaged in terrorism, not ordinary combat. There is his son, proudly named “Eichmann,” who “took action” against Israel. Why aren’t we told what that “action” was that led to his imprisonment? Might it have been for something — such as murdering Jewish children on a bus, or in a schoolroom, or at a pizza parlor — that is less than ennobling? There is still another “fighting” relative, Al-Ghadanfar, the nephew of Munif Abu Atwan, an Islamic Jihad terrorist who was involved in the murder of four Israeli students at the Otniel Yeshiva, south of Hebron, on Dec. 27, 2002. He is currently serving five life sentences. Quite a family tree to be proud of, but only if you are a moral monster, as all these Abu Atwans, and their admirers at the PA newspaper, turn out to be.

To name a child after the mastermind of the worst atrocity in human history is intolerable enough. It reflects badly on the family. But to have the PA’s official newspaper carry the story of that naming, as something for which all Palestinians should be proud, is even worse. It implicates the PA itself, for praising the family that chose to honor Adolf Eichmann.

Out of this grotesque story some good may come. Those who still have their moral wits about them, should now see the PA – just revealed as honoring a Palestinian family that celebrate Adolf Eichmann – as the monstrous organization it has always been.

The story of how the PA’s official newspaper has just chosen to honor a family of terrorists and in particular, to applaud the family patriarch who named his son “Eichmann” after the Nazi whom he was honoring for his role as the mastermind of the Holocaust, should provide the opportunity for the rest of us to bring up a whole host of stories linking the Palestinians and other Arabs to the Nazis.

After all, the religious leader of Palestine’s Muslims for decades was Hajj Amin el Husseini, who spent the war years in Berlin, where he met Hitler and encouraged him to proceed with the “Final Solution,” was befriended by Himmler, and is even reported to have secretly visited Auschwitz and viewed its operation with satisfaction. The Grand Mufti made propagandistic radio broadcasts to the Arab world, urging the Arabs to support the Nazis who shared the same murderous views on the Jews. He also raised several Waffen-SS brigades from Bosnian Muslim volunteers. In short, Haj Amin el-Husseini was deeply involved in promoting the war effort of the Nazis among Arabs and Muslims, and especially supportive of their campaign to destroy Europe’s Jews.

The “Eichmann” story also leads naturally to the story of all the Nazi war criminals who escaped after the war to Egypt and Syria, where they not only found refuge, but found employment in training the local Arab secret police forces in Nazi techniques of interrogation. Only a handful of their number can be mentioned here. The notorious Alois Brunner was a member of the SS, Eichmann’s chief assistant, a man who was personally responsible for sending 100,000 Jews to their death. After the war he found refuge in Syria. Brunner was reportedly granted asylum, a generous salary, and protection by the ruling Ba’ath Party, in exchange for his advice on effective torture and interrogation techniques used by the Germans in World War II.

Aribert Heim was a war criminal, an SS man known as “Doctor Death” for the atrocities he committed against Jews as a physician at the Buchenwald, Sachsenhausen, and Mauthausen concentration camps. Considered to be the “most wanted Nazi war criminal,” Heim spent the last decade of his life living in Egypt, protected by the government. In Egypt he became a Muslim and reinvented himself as an apparently kindly old man called Uncle Tarek, who played ping-pong with local children.

While serving with the SS, he was accused of injecting petrol into his victims’ hearts, removing organs from healthy patients and decorating his desk with the skulls of prisoners he killed.

Heim was unrepentant to the end. And the Egyptian government, that knew his history, nonetheless willingly provided protection and support for this monster to the very end of his life.

Johann van Leers was an SS member and one of the most important ideologues of the Third Reich, serving as a high-ranking propaganda ministry official. After the war he fled to Egypt, where he was given not only refuge, but also well-paid employment in the Egyptian Information Department, as well as serving as an advisor to Gamal Abdel Nasser. He converted to Islam, and changed his name to Omar Amin.

Hundreds of Nazi war criminals found refuge in Egypt and Syria after the war. They were protected by the state, given government jobs in propaganda and intelligence, and were never extradited or brought to justice. Many of them converted to Islam which, not surprisingly, they found congenial, especially in its anti-Jewish aspects. The story of these Nazi war criminals who were sheltered by Arab states, rewarded with well-paying jobs in their grim specialties – with many of them converting to Islam and taking Arab names – has fallen completely out of the world’s consciousness. It needs to be brought back.

The account in the PA’s official newspaper about the Palestinian family proudly naming a baby boy after Adolf Eichmann provides a natural prompt to tell the whole story of the close relations between Nazis and Arabs. There’ s a lot to tell, from Haj Amin el Husseini spending the war years in Berlin, where he met with Hitler and encouraged him in his campaign to destroy the Jews of Europe, while himself broadcasting Nazi propaganda to the Arabs, and raising SS brigades of Bosnian Muslims, all the way to the postwar period. And let’s not forget the Holocaust-denier Mahmoud Abbas, whose doctoral thesis at the People’s Friendship University in Moscow was about the supposed link between the Nazis and the Zionists: The Connection between the Nazis and the Leaders of the Zionist Movement 1933–1945. In this dissertation, which then became a book, Abbas dismissed as a “myth” and “fantastic lie” the assertion that six million Jews had died in the Holocaust; he wrote that the real figure of Jews killed by Germans was at most “800,000” or “a few hundred thousand.” The number of such deaths, he claimed, had been exaggerated for political purposes, to win sympathy for the Zionists. Surely Abbas’s role as a Holocaust denier – or more exactly, as a Holocaust minimizer – ought to be made better known.

The “Eichmann” story in the PA’s official newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida provides just the excuse one needs to discuss, inter alia, Haj Amin el Husseini’s role in wartime Berlin, observing and promoting the Final Solution, the Nazi war criminals who found refuge and employment in Arab states after the war, and Mahmoud Abbas’ outrageous denial of the true scope of the Holocaust, and his attempt to dismiss the number of six million victims as a “fantastic lie” dreamed up by the Zionists to gain sympathy. The admiring story that just appeared about Eichmann Abu Atwan in the official PA newspaper has opened wide the door for such stories to be told; let’s not allow this opportunity to pass. The world deserves to know all about the Arab-Nazi connection, starting with Haj Amin el Husseini’s agreeable little chat with Adolf Hitler. Let those stories rip.
