Kafkaesque Show Trial: Impeachment Trial of Citizen Trump Begins Today

24

Like some failed tinpot dictatorship.

The party of treason flaunts its coup in this final act of persecution and as a bigger warning to any rational American who dares challenge the orthodoxy: You will be destroyed.

From team Trump: “This process will provide us with an opportunity to explain to Senators why it is absurd and unconstitutional to hold an impeachment trial against a private citizen.”  More on the structure (NPR). With irony he did not see, Adam Schiff used BRITISH history as proof we can impeach a non-government official (Twitter). From Byron York: Thread. A history lesson from the leader of the first Trump impeachment. Would be nice if he could cite an example of a former President of the United States being tried at any time in the 18th, 19th, 20th, or 21st centuries. Of course, there isn’t one (Twitter). Counter to a charge by Senator Rand Paul, Andrew McCarthy explains “Former President Trump has not been charged with a crime. An impeachment trial is a political process. At stake is a person’s authority to hold an office of public trust, which is a privilege, not a right. Trump’s liberty is not at stake. If found guilty, he will not stand convicted of a crime, and he will not be subject to a fine” (National Review). The Wall Street Journal explains why this all “looks like a needless partisan exercise that will further polarize America’s political factions” (WSJ).  SRN News will cover it all (SRN News).

Daybreak Insider: The timeline (New York Magazine). This Washington Post article lays out the Democrats’ thinking (Washington Post). From Florida Congressman Bill Posey: Now that President Trump’s term has ended and he is a private citizen, the impeachment articles are irrelevant, and the case is moot. The U.S. Constitution limits impeachment jurisdiction to the current president, vice president and sitting federal civil office holders. Additionally, the Constitution prescribes a punishment that shall not go beyond removal from office with the possibility of being disqualified from holding office in the future. Since President Trump no longer holds office, the penalty if convicted is meaningless. It’s politics at its worst and will only serve to further divide our nation (Townhall).

The Truth Must be Told

Your contribution supports independent journalism

Please take a moment to consider this. Now, more than ever, people are reading Geller Report for news they won't get anywhere else. But advertising revenues have all but disappeared. Google Adsense is the online advertising monopoly and they have banned us. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have blocked and shadow-banned our accounts. But we won't put up a paywall. Because never has the free world needed independent journalism more.

Everyone who reads our reporting knows the Geller Report covers the news the media won't. We cannot do our ground-breaking report without your support. We must continue to report on the global jihad and the left's war on freedom. Our readers’ contributions make that possible.

Geller Report's independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our work is critical in the fight for freedom and because it is your fight, too.
