Democrat Congressman says he DOESN’T CARE about independent small businesses

49

Just awful. America’s small business owners are in for some very difficult days, now that the Left is in charge of our government. A $15 per hour minimum wage will force many small business owners to lay off their employees to cover their loses. It will also force many small business owners to shut down. It’s madness.

“Every ugly, brutal aspect of injustice toward racial or religious minorities is being practiced toward businessmen.. . . Every movement that seeks to enslave a country, every dictatorship or potential dictatorship, needs some minority group as a scapegoat which it can blame for the nation’s troubles and use as a justification of its own demands for dictatorial powers. In Soviet Russia, the scapegoat was the bourgeoisie; in Nazi Germany, it was the Jewish people; in America, it is the businessmen.” Ayn Rand

WATCH: Dem Rep admits he doesn’t care about independent small businesses

By PM, February 22, 2021

Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA) took to CNN on Sunday morning to discuss the possibility of increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

“They shouldn’t be doing it by paying people low wages, we don’t want low wage businesses, I think most successful small businesses can pay a fair wage,” Khanna said.

Khanna was asked how small businesses which are already struggling to pay their bills would survive a minimum wage increase.

“They shouldn’t be doing it by paying people low wages, we don’t want low wage businesses, I think most successful small businesses can pay a fair wage,” Khanna said.

“If you look at minimum wage, it increased with worker productivity until 1968 and that relationship was severed,” Khanna continued. “If workers were actually getting paid for the value they were creating, it would be up to $23.”

“I love small businesses, I’m all for it, but I don’t want small businesses that underpay employees.”

The federal minimum wage in the United States currently sits at $7.25 per hour, although it is higher in some states and individual municipalities. President Joe Biden has expressed a commitment to getting the minimum wage increased to $15 per hour by 2025.

The potential move has been criticized by Republicans, who argue that it would put many Americans out of work as some businesses cannot afford to pay $15 per hour.

Others have also criticized it as a one-size-fits-all approach. Cost of living ranges drastically across American states, and while a $7.25 wage may not be a livable wage in New York City, it is not the same case for a state such as Mississippi.

In a study conducted by the Congressional Budget Office, they found that increasing the minimum wage to $15 per hour would lift 0.9 million people out of poverty, place 1.4 million Americans out of a job, and would increase the US budget deficit by $54 billion.

Of course the DEMS and RINOS don’t care about them. They need to be eliminated for their serf society. There will be two classes, impoverished and the elite. Those not in the upper class, with a few liberal exemptions will be taxed to death to them down. The imbecile promised to RAISE TAXES!

“Collectivism does not preach sacrifice as a temporary means to some desirable end. Sacrifice is its end—sacrifice as a way of life. It is man’s independence, success, prosperity, and happiness that collectivists wish to destroy….

The advocates of collectivism are motivated not by a desire for men’s happiness, but by hatred for man . . . hatred of the good for being the good; . . . the focus of that hatred, the target of its passionate fury, is the man of ability….

Altruists [altruism is the moral rationalization of the minimum wage] are concerned only with those who suffer—not with those who provide relief from suffering, not even enough to care whether they are able to survive. When no actual suffering can be found, the altruists are compelled to invent or manufacture it.” – Ayn Rand

“Facts don’t matter when you’re morally right.” – the socialist AOC

Socialism is religious mysticism masquerading as rational philosophy. It is closed to facts, reality, and reason.

“Facts don’t matter when you’re morally right.”, the morality AOC speaks of is ALTRUISM, the morality of sacrifice. So long as altruism is accepted as the highest moral ideal, facts won’t matter because morality is the greatest of all intellectual powers, and socialism will win. And so long as selfishness is believed to be evil capitalism will be rejected.

“The socialists had a certain kind of logic on their side: if the collective sacrifice of all to all is the moral ideal, then they wanted to establish this ideal in practice, here and on this earth. The arguments that socialism would not and could not work, did not stop them: neither has altruism ever worked, but this has not caused men to stop and question it. Only reason can ask such questions—and reason, they were told on all sides, has nothing to do with morality, morality lies outside the realm of reason, no rational morality can ever be defined.

The fallacies and contradictions in the economic theories of socialism were exposed and refuted time and time again, in the Nineteenth Century as well as today. This did not and does not stop anyone: it is not an issue of economics, but of morality. The intellectuals and the so-called idealists were determined to make socialism work. How? By that magic means of all irrationalists: somehow….

In spite of all their irrationalities, inconsistencies, hypocrisies and evasions, the majority of men will not act, in major issues, without a sense of being morally right and will not oppose the morality they have accepted. They will break it, they will cheat on it, but they will not oppose it; and when they break it, they take the blame on themselves. The power of morality is the greatest of all intellectual powers—and mankind’s tragedy lies in the fact that the vicious moral code men have accepted destroys them by means of the best within them.” – Ayn Rand

“Facts don’t matter when you’re morally right.” – the socialist AOC

You can not defeat morality. Morality is how we live. A moral code is the most powerful motivating force in human life. Ah!, but what if your moral code is actually evil and immoral and you don’t know it?! You’ll fly an airplane into a skyscraper and kill yourself! Or you’ll embrace socialism and reject capitalism. You’ll be capable, by accepting an evil morality as a noble morality, to say something so absurd as “Facts don’t matter when you’re morally right.”

“Most people who oppose socialized medicine [socialism, the minimum wage] do so on the grounds that it is moral and well-intentioned, but impractical; i.e., it is a noble idea–which just somehow does not work. I do not agree that socialized medicine is moral and well-intentioned, but impractical. Of course, it is impractical–it does not work–but I hold that it is impractical because it is immoral. This is not a case of noble in theory but a failure in practice; it is a case of vicious in theory and therefore a disaster in practice. I want to focus on the moral issue at stake. So long as people believe that socialized medicine [or the minimum wage] is a noble plan, there is no way to fight it. You cannot stop a noble plan–not if it really is noble. The only way you can defeat it is to unmask it–to show that it is the very opposite of noble. Then at least you have a fighting chance.” – Leonard Peikoff

Once the health care system has total control over you, with anything like government healthcare for all, they own you and literally can decide whether you live or die. Most decisions are more subtle than that, but FORCED vaccinations should scare everyone. This latest vaccine is truly scary with all the potential unknowns. Another pandemic could come, with a virus that targets the protein maker to make something a little different, perhaps more deadly. The protein that your body is instructed to make, is from/of a PATHOGENIC virus, what could possibly go wrong? Could it be a target molecule of a future release of another bioweapon, that disables your immune system’s ability to fight the next one, making human beings entirely dependent on ‘vaccines’ to stay alive, or kill you, in a day, a week, a year, 10 years, who knows. And that is the problem, no one knows. Also ask Biden’s government why they are funding the Wuhan lab again!

Once again, gellerreport is being misleading, if not outright false. Rep Kahana did not say he DOESN’T CARE about independent small businesses. What he actually said is, we don’t want low wage businesses. Would accuracy be too much for the Geller Report Staff, or has Pamela started hiring laid off WaPo reporters?

Kahana does strike me as an economic illiterate who has never considered the origin of wealth. He adduces irrelevant- and dubious- facts to arrive at his desired conclusion, one that I would wager he thinks is in his own political interest. He has no understanding or appreciation of free minds and free markets, beyond what he can, from his privileged position, control. Because he “thinks” (I use that word promiscuously) $15 is “very reasonable in this country”, he believes he has the right to command it.

Sir, you are an officious, tyrannical idiot.

A distinction without a difference.

No thx, there is a significant difference between not caring about small business in general, and not wanting low wage businesses. Some small businesses pay quite well.

But I do understand that the distinction would be beyond your ken.

Small business should have control over the wages they pay or not pay, it is NONE of the government’s business, at least it shouldn’t be. How are kids going to get a start in learning business skills if the wages preclude hiring anyone that is not skilled and experiences?

I wonder what her Make-Believe Pretend “Korean” wife thinks about all of this.

Boo to professional “public servants,” professional bureaucrats, and the entire system that allows lawyers and politicians who secure their seats to enrich themselves and their families instead of serving the interests of the taxpayers. The encroachment of Big Government, Big Ag, Big Pharma, Big Education, and all the extraneous “government regulatory agencies” that create foul legislation that has the force of law has been gradually stealing our money and liberties as long as I remember. And all of this is done for us supposedly for our own good. We have been especially being destroyed since the creation of the vile United Nations that Americans should have fought all along.
