Jihad Watch Breaks International News Story About Gaza’s Anti-Christmas Government Memo

On December 19, 2020, Jihad Watch published a story by Samir A. Zedan entitled “Gaza: Internal Hamas government memo calls for ‘activities to reduce interaction with Christmas.’” In it, Zedan broke the story in English of the existence of “a letter (which was made public on social media and other Palestinian websites) that was sent to the government of Hamas in Gaza regarding the upcoming celebrations of Christmas. The letter, entitled ‘Activities to reduce interaction with Christmas during the next two weeks,’ was sent by the Director-General of the General Administration of Preaching and Counseling of the Palestinian Endowment Ministry in Gaza.”

Jihad Watch was the first with this story about Gaza’s Hamas government attempting to limit Christmas celebrations. The international media followed only days later. The Reuters story, “Leaked Hamas Christmas memo causes Christian dismay in Gaza,” was only published on December 23, four days after the Jihad Watch article. Most media outlets simply republished the Reuters story. Times of Israel had a story of its own about it on Christmas Day, December 25.

As the story went all over the world, no media outlets, of course, credited Samir A. Zedan or Jihad Watch. As far as they’re concerned, Jihad Watch is in the forbidden zone, on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Index of Forbidden Websites. But that doesn’t stop them for checking in on it for the real news, as opposed to all the propaganda, cant and lies they regularly pump out. As you should as well.

The Truth Must be Told

Your contribution supports independent journalism

Please take a moment to consider this. Now, more than ever, people are reading Geller Report for news they won't get anywhere else. But advertising revenues have all but disappeared. Google Adsense is the online advertising monopoly and they have banned us. Social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have blocked and shadow-banned our accounts. But we won't put up a paywall. Because never has the free world needed independent journalism more.

Everyone who reads our reporting knows the Geller Report covers the news the media won't. We cannot do our ground-breaking report without your support. We must continue to report on the global jihad and the left's war on freedom. Our readers’ contributions make that possible.

Geller Report's independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we believe our work is critical in the fight for freedom and because it is your fight, too.

Please contribute here.
