300,000 New Yorkers FLEE amid coronavirus, crime, high taxes

16

Many of the 300,000 New Yorkers who have fled the Big Apple are high income earners. New York City is going to lose massive levels of tax revenue that it desperately needs. Shame on you, Mayor de Blasio.

It was the city of the hill, now it’s a Democrat cesspool of violence and lawlessness. Not fit for human living.
Maria Bartiromo: NYC ‘a Mess’ — People ‘Afraid’ to Be Here Because of Uptick in Crime

On Monday, Fox Business Network host Maria Bartiromo slammed New York City as the city sees a mass exodus amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the uptick in crime. According to the New York Post, almost 300,000 residents filed for a change of address in response to the strict mandates during the pandemic.

Bartiromo said on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” that New York has been a “mess.” She added that people are “afraid” to be in New York City because of the policies put in place by Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) that have resulted in increased crime and homelessness.

“It’s a mess, Dana,” Bartiromo outlined. “It is an important story we need to cover. You are seeing people leave new york city in droves, and yes, you can take what Kathryn Wylde is saying as part of the reason, but there are other things as well. This is a security issue. People are afraid to go back to New York because the homelessness population has skyrocketed, and then, of course, we’ve got the bail reform that is in place — meaning that if you are arrested, you get checked in, you get processed, and then you are right back on the streets. You no longer have to come up with bail money. So, criminals are getting processed going right back on the street, and that is scaring people. You are seeing crime shoot up. Shootings are up. Robberies are up in New York City. So, it has as much to do as the fact that we don’t have the services we used to have because of COVID as it does policy.”

“These are policies from Andrew Cuomo and the mayor of New York, and as a result, you are seeing crime numbers go higher, and that is one of the reasons people are fleeing New York,” she continued. “Not to mention taxes. They are expecting taxes to go higher. And of course, we know that Mayor de Blasio has already raised taxes. It has gotten very expensive, and safety issues are real, Dana.”

New stats reveal massive NYC exodus amid coronavirus, crime

By New York Post, November 16, 2020

More than 300,000 New Yorkers have bailed from the Big Apple in the last eight months, new stats show.

City residents filed 295,103 change of address requests from March 1 through Oct. 31, according to data The Post obtained from the US Postal Service under a Freedom of Information Act request.

Since the data details only when 11 or more forwarding requests were made to a particular county outside NYC, the number of moves is actually higher. And a single address change could represent an entire household, which means far more than 300,000 New Yorkers fled the five boroughs.

Whatever the exact number, the exodus — which began when COVID-19 hit the city in early spring — is much greater than in prior years. From just March through July, there were 244,895 change of address requests to destinations outside the city, more than double the 101,342 during the same period in 2019.

The escape from New York is fueled not only by coronavirus concerns but economic worries, school chaos and rising crime, experts say.

Michael Hendrix, director of state and local policy at the Manhattan Institute, which has commissioned surveys about the state of the city, was not surprised by the data.

“I think people are afraid,” Hendrix said. “They’re afraid of catching a deadly virus and they’re afraid of crime and other quality-of-life concerns. One thing we also hear is about trash and cleanliness of the city.”

The institute’s survey of six-figure earners in July and August found that 44% of respondents had considered moving outside the city in the prior four months. They cited cost of living as the biggest reason. More than a third, 38%, said they thought the city was heading in the wrong direction and only 38% rated the quality of life as good or excellent.

More than half, 53%, said they were very concerned about sending their kids back to school.

Major crimes have been on the rise this year, with the number of murders in the Big Apple hitting 344 by October, surpassing the count for all of 2019. The number of shootings through Nov. 8 is up 94% over 2019.

Ruining the cities they control is a strange way to serve the people and defend the Constitution.

The Democrats use their cites and citizens (like toilet paper) to create scenes of destruction and death for their MSM propaganda machine.

This has gone on forever because most of the victims don’t understand who they are voting for.

The Democrat Party is serving someone other than us. Who, exactly, are they serving?

There is no intent to serve the people and defend the Constitution. The intent is to enslave the people and destroy the Constitution – particularly the Bill of Rights. The democrats want to rule not to serve.

Sounds like the conditions that drove me out of “The Big Apple” a.k.a. “Fun City” in 1979. Went home to Boston. Libertarian in both locations. Drop in the bucket in either, alas.

NYC will become a ghost town, or worse, a ghoul town. History shows that cities die and disappear when they become unlivable. DeBlasio has made NYC unlivable and he did it deliberately. The rate of decline is dramatic and no amount of pleading will bring productive folks back.

New Yorkers let the super liberals run their city and now are fleeing? Don’t bring that liberal crap to other communities. Stay and enjoy the fruits of your liberalism.
