Oversight agency releases video of fatal Chicago police shooting in Southwest Side park

COPA released video Thursday showing a man being fatally shot by police Sept. 5 after he was hit with a Taser and lunged at a sergeant with a butcher knife.
Chicago’s investigative police oversight agency released video Thursday showing a man being fatally shot by police Sept. 5 after he was hit with a Taser and lunged at a sergeant with a butcher knife.
The Civilian Office of Police Accountability released several body camera videos and 911 recordings related to the shooting in Vittum Park in the Southwest Side’s Garfield Ridge community as part of the city’s video release policy, which requires that video and other evidence be released to the public within 60 days of shootings involving officers.
Chicago Lawn District officers were called to the area about 1:40 a.m. Sept. 5 for a call of a person stabbed. The victim gave police a description of the suspect, Chicago police and COPA said immediately after the shooting.
At least two officers and a sergeant approached the suspect shortly afterward in the park, located off 49th Street and Lavergne Avenue, the officials said. The officers and the sergeant walked toward the suspect, Shaon Warner, according to body camera video.
“Hey, get your hands up,” one officer can be heard to say on the video. “My man, put your hands up.”
“Let’s see your hands,” the sergeant also demanded. “Hands up now.”

In 2013 for every ONE black, killed by a white, there were ELEVEN white people killed by blacks. Interracial violent crime, for every ONE perpetrated by a white on a black v black perpetrated on white …. it’s off of the chart. And, in the SF Bay area, OVER 85% of ALL violent crime is black on East Asian descent.

Absolutely. But … .it’s really prevalent, black-on-white violent crime.
Look at 2013. Almost as many whites were murdered by blacks as whites murdered by whites.
If whites were to kick it up, to the same number of blacks as blacks murdered by blacks …. then, blm could REALLY squeal.

I believe that response was late, more than a bit late. The negro was within two steps when gunfire commenced and was practically touching its intended victim prior to going down. Surviving that was a miracle.

FFS, stop calling knives “machetes.” It is very hard to “stab” someone with a machete yet more often than not the copy writers go with that, probably because they have lived all their life in a bubble and never even seen a machete or have any idea that it would be like trying to stab someone with a hatchet.

Chris Wallace Tells Fox Viewers Not to Listen to Trump COVID Adviser Scott Atlas: ‘He Has No Training’
Fox News anchor Chris Wallace had a lot of thoughts on Friday morning following the massive news that President Donald Trump has tested positive for COVID-19, scolding the Trump family for declining to wear masks at Tuesday’s debate and then, in a later segment, dismissing the expertise of the president’s Fox-friendly coronavirus adviser.
Appearing on Fox & Friends, Wallace excoriated the Trumps for refusing to adhere to the safety restrictions put in place by the Cleveland Clinic at the debate hall.
Fox host Sandra Smith, meanwhile, brought up an “exclusive interview” that the network recent obtained from Dr. Scott Atlas, the president’s coronavirus adviser…
“He expects the president and first lady to make a ‘complete, full and rapid recovery after the two tested positive,’” Smith said. “He says that there is zero reason to panic. Again this is an exclusive interview to Fox.”
Wallace, however, was less than impressed with Atlas’ analysis, and wanted Fox viewers to know that the neuroradiologist was not an actual expert on the novel coronavirus.
“Well, I’m going to say something and folks—I’m just trying to give you the truth,” he declared. “Dr. Scott Atlas is not an epidemiologist, is not an infectious disease specialist. He has no training in this area at all.”
“There are a number of top people on the president’s coronavirus task force who have had grave concerns about Scott Atlas and his scientific thinking,” Wallace continued. “I’ll get a lot of pushback from this. I hope everything he says is true.”
“But again, follow the scientists,” he concluded. “Listen to people like Anthony Fauci and Deborah Birx. Listen to the independent people who don’t have a political ax to grind. I don’t think Scott Atlas is one of those people.”

I’m pretty surprised that the female officer (sergeant) didn’t open fire the instant he started toward her. That is their training. She is lucky, very lucky he didn’t kill her.
When people complain about how many times an armed criminal is shot, its the training. You put the criminal down to protect yourself or the person they are attacking. I can just see the media cartel, BLM, and Antifa (any reason to burn stuff) go crazy because the officer fired off – by my count – 14 shots, maybe more. That is what hit took to stop this assailant.
I know, the officer should have tried to disarm him, shoot him in the arm or leg, reasoned with him, and the guy with the butcher’s knife was just trying to dance with the female sergeant. After all, BLM! Yea. Right.
So, when will the riots begin? Merchants, hide the good stuff.

Wow… that was wild… the guy’s blood was gushing out with each heart beat. I can’t believe their late response that the guy was in contact with the female officer. She didn’t seem to maintain distance when he lunged after her after being tased. Seems she could have been seriously, if not fatally, injured by the guy’s knife.
I suppose this is more proof of systemic racism by the police… who shot an innocent black man who was doing nothing… that is if we ignore the fact that he not only ignored the officers’ commands, fought through being tased and then attacking the female officer… that’s apparently considered innocent by the BLM agitators.
