President Donald Trump confirms that he has tested positive for COVID-19, nearly seven months after he labeled the pandemic a national emergency.

AdvertisementTrump, 74, said late Thursday before the results that he and first lady Melania Trump are quarantining. It comes as over 7 million cases have been confirmed in the U.S., according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
Trump has received criticism for his leadership in handling the country’s response. According to Johns Hopkins, over 200,000 people have died from the disease.
Trump has adjusted some large-scale events, such as the GOP convention for his renomination, but also forged ahead with rallies in recent months, where he and many supporters have been seen without masks.
The commander in chief has at times been seen wearing a face mask, but he’s also faced criticism for whether he could have done so more frequently. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends wearing one in public settings, staying 6 feet apart from people and other measures.

The White House has previously noted that there’s rampant testing for Trump and people who come into contact with him.
Trump took the test with his wife after a top aide, Hope Hicks, tested positive, according to reports.
Hicks traveled with the president multiple times this week, including aboard Marine One, the presidential helicopter, for a Minnesota rally Wednesday, and aboard Air Force One to Tuesday night’s first presidential debate.

3 years agoAccording to Johns Hopkins, over 200,000 people have died from the disease.
I think this is a very flawed figure. While over 200,000 in the USA have COVID listed as cause of death, the vast majority had identifiable comorbidities- hence attributing it all to COVID seems to me to be disingenuous. Not to mention, I gather hospitals get paid more for a COVID death than, say a death due to trauma for a motorcycle accident.
That said, nobody should underestimate the virulence of COVID- it is dangerous virus for which medical science still does not fully understand who is most at risk of serious complications from it. I certainly would not want to get it, and won’t tempt fate. While people should certainly take precautions, such as social distancing, to the extent they can, I think our ancestors would not be impressed by this pandemic, Moreover, far worse pandemics lurk in the mud, waiting to hatch out. Think MERS, with its 30% mortality, but with the infectiousness of COVID.

Also notice how the statist Left has used or will be using the Trumps’ coming down with the very Chinese virus that he sought to “minimize” in terms of the body count with his late January travel bans, as justification for their fascistic “scorched earth” policies regarding thereto.
