Story continues below advertisementUS President Donald Trump’s administration is set to declare major international human rights nongovernmental organizations Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Oxfam as antisemitic in a soon-to-be released State Department declaration, voicing the opinion governments should not support them any longer.T’ruah, a rabbinic human rights organization that represents more than 2,000 rabbis, responded to the allegation, noting “any US government declaration that these groups are antisemitic for criticizing the Israeli government is ridiculous, and contributes to the silencing of Israel’s human rights defenders.”Rabbi Jill Jacobs, executive director of T’ruah, said on Wednesday that “the Trump administration’s smear of these three human rights organizations is yet one more example of this administration’s disregard for democracy and human rights at home and abroad.”“In casting aspersion on longtime respected human rights organizations, the Trump administration joins an ignoble list of autocratic governments that have discredited, smeared and even banned their own internal human rights organizations,” she said.“Actions such as these damage US democracy by threatening the transparency necessary to protect human rights. Human rights and civil society groups play a prophetic role, even if their words may not be ones governments want to hear,”“Israel is a state bound by international human rights law, like all other members of the United Nations, and like other countries can be criticized when it fails to live up to these commitments,” she said.“By falsely smearing human rights organizations as antisemitic, the Trump administration only makes it harder to counter actual acts of antisemitism when they happen, while simultaneously harming these organizations’ effectiveness in reporting on all countries’ human rights abuses – including those of the United States.”ACCORDING TO the declaration is expected to take the form of a report from the office of Elan Carr, US special envoy to monitor and combat antisemitism. The report would declare it is US policy not to support such groups, including financially, and urge other governments to cease their support.

casch: this is the Trump / Pompeo plan to bypass the UN human rights council [UNHRC], that is chock full of genocidal tyrants, all attacking Israel.
Here is a typical quote about the UNHRC: “Today’s Human Rights Council elections prove once again that this council has nothing to do with protecting human rights and everything to do with violating them. Since 2006, the council has adopted 90 resolutions condemning Israel, more than all the resolutions against Syria, North Korea and Iran, combined.”

Israel (God’s Chosen) is to be honored and protected. The left is very consistent with the words used to convince Christian Conservatives to wander off our path. Back in the 70’s these same words were used and made the hair stand up on the back of my neck when activists would hand out papers on campus or on the streets downtown. Still do. They sort of sound ok but not. I now know that the NGOs (non-governmental organizations) and the UN (United Nations) have set up an extra-constitutional system of governance by using feelings, contracts and agreements. Corporations do the same thing. And ‘democracy’ has become a euphemism for communism.

All one has to do is read how they fail to criticize the worse of the worst Regimes and Governments 160 of 190 at the UN. Don’t forget they also contro the Human Rights Council at the UN that has condemed Israel 62. Times the rest of the World combined 68 times. Israel is only 7mm people with 20% Arab Israelis.
