Fox News passed on chance to break Hunter Biden laptop story over credibility concerns: Report

Fox News reportedly turned down the opportunity to break the story on information found on a computer that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Story continues below advertisementThe outlet chose not to run with the story, which was brought to them by President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, citing concerns over the veracity of the contents of the data, according to Mediaite.
Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A spokesperson for Giuliani said the former New York City mayor did not show Fox News the data.
“I can confirm Mayor Giuliani did not present Fox News with the content on Hunter Biden’s laptop for a story,” the representative told the Washington Examiner.
Previously, Fox News privately warned the network about the former New York City mayor, among other frequent guests on the network, about their propensity for “spreading disinformation,” specifically as it relates to Ukraine, according to the Daily Beast.
When Fox News passed on the story from Giuliani, who says he obtained a copy of Hunter Biden’s hard drive, which he claims proves significant illegal activity that implicates his father, the former mayor went to the New York Post, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the same person who owns Fox News.
The New York Post covered some of the contents on the hard drive last week. At least two reporters refused to have their byline attached, and one of the two reporters whose name does appear didn’t know about it until after the first story was published, according to the New York Times.
The reporting includes an email that purportedly talks about the younger Biden setting up a meeting between a senior official at the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, where he worked, and his father while the elder Biden was vice president. The Biden campaign has denied that such a meeting took place based on “Biden’s official schedules from the time” but only as it was described in the New York Post.
Fox News reported that it had a source in one of the email chains who corroborated the discussion about an apparent payout to the elder Biden as part of a deal with a Chinese investment firm.
So far, neither the Biden campaign nor Hunter Biden has denied any other element of the emails story, though the elder Biden has called it part of a “smear campaign.” The FBI is reportedly investigating if the Hunter Biden emails stories are tied to a Russian disinformation effort, but Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said on Monday that he didn’t believe the news related to the laptop and emails are connected to the Kremlin.
Giuliani has long sought to obtain and disseminate dirt on the Bidens. The former New York City mayor was a major player in the situation that resulted in the president’s impeachment in the Democratic-controlled House following a whistleblower complaint about him urging Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate claims of corruption regarding the Bidens. Trump was acquitted by the GOP-led Senate in February.
Recent reports have said that the White House was warned last year that Giuliani could be the target of a Russian disinformation campaign.
Giuliani worked with Ukrainian lawmaker Andriy Derkach and others to push allegations that Joe Biden had abused his power in Ukraine. According to the U.S. intelligence community, Derkach “is spreading claims about corruption — including through publicizing leaked phone calls — to undermine” Joe Biden. He has also been sanctioned by the Treasury Department, but it’s unclear if Derkach has any connection with the laptop.

There are still a few left that are worth watching – Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity if you can get past him obsessing over himself, Laura Ingrahm if you can get past her Muslim doctor pushing, Judge Jeannie, Steve Hilton and on FOX News Business, Lou Dobbs. The rest aren’t worth watching, imo.

Biden is taking FIVE DAYS off to be in the basement. He is desperately trying to avoid questions on his son’s pay for play global corruption and hope it goes away till AFTER the election. He’s so close to a cheat win, why take any chances. He’s saturating voters with PRO Biden commercials to do his campaigning. He is a ghost candidate. So far it is working and Biden is getting away with it. Social media censors you and the liberal MSM is ignoring it.
The deck is stacked against Trump. I don’t know if Trump will win … it will depend on DEMS underestimating the cheat factor. They underestimated that with Hillary. In swing states like PA. they have to spread out the cheat vote by district so they still have some challenges.

Where did that story get cut and pasted from, the WaPo? Because it is full of all the bullcrud left talking points you can list. Seriously, this site is getting worse by the day with all the low rent ads screwing up the formatting, the same paragraphs occurring over and over again throughout the page and stories cut short with no relevance to their headline at times.

No, maybe you should improve your reading skills. As a person that worked for a publishing company as a proof reader I’m sure you must be skipping ahead and not actually reading each line and word. Here’s a proof readers tip for you to try. Once you have read something and are sure you have picked up all the errors, start again at the end and read backwards. You’ll be amazed at how many more errors you will pick up then. It is well known the brain tends to skip errors such as when a word is repeated at the end of one line and at the beginning of the next.

No, only the oldest son is running FOXNEWS. The Youngest son was not only booted out at least 2 years ago, but he is no longer part of the WSJ. Yes, FOXNEWS hired Brazile soon after they hired Ryan, and the show was supposed to go alt left, but the stockholders are not happy. There could be changes soon. There are too many alt left and socialist democrats there now, and the ratings are supposedly diving. If advertisers start demanding that they don’t want their ads on the shows run by the alt left scum, changes will have to be made. Otherwise, the network will end up doing what the youngest son wants(which is going off the air) and I think the Father and the oldest son(who is alt left also) realize that would be a disaster.

Drop service from Fox if you have a suitable replacement available. Otherwise, don’t tune into anything, but your favorite, acceptable shows. Advertisers see and know and alocate advertising revenue accordyingly. It’s the only way to hurt non-performing corporations.

Another well informed and excellent comment. Fox is insidious in its undermining of its own audience. I find all of the above mentioned persons to be pernicious and dispicable. Some such as Perino don’t even recognize it. Others like Cavuto, appear to be formula with utter disregard for anything like simple truth much less the good of the nation. Most people(including myself) would disagree with you. What Brazile did with Hitlery was a disgrace and disgusting, but Wallace has his own show, which is broadcast 3 times a day on Sundays, and he is constantly quoted by the media, while Brazile is not.

Shareholders and profitability will have to be the play, but here’s the thing. My cable company (Cox Cable) requires the inclusion of Fox with basic service. If you want to cancel Fox, you have to change providers. It gives Fox tremendous leverage

Infinity(Comcast) does not carry OANN at all. I have Fios, and I will bet that when the time comes that I need to renew the TV part of my package, FOXNEWS will be a pay channel, especially if the President wins. One of the reasons Mudoch’s youngest son is gone is because he wanted his Father to shut down FOXNEWS, Business News, The website and everything else so that Republicans could not get their news from FOXNEWS anymore. His wife and sister in law feel the same way.

Cox cable doesn’t carry OANN either and I don’t have any options except Direct TV. I do find myself mostly on the Newsmax channel except for Tucker Carlson’s hour. Tucker has the ratings to demand a measure of independence.

Other than a few good people, like Dobbs, Hannity, Tucker, etc. (who seem to be somewhat muzzled as it is) Fox isn’t really much different than the obvious radical left wing propaganda outlets. They are owned and run by leftists, which amazes me that those few, like Laura, can get away with saying some of the things they do. May God bless those few that are really good reporters and journalists.
