Biden Says He Will End Trump’s Tariffs On Chinese-Made Goods, Aide Walks Back Statement

Story continues below advertisementDemocratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said he would remove Donald Trump’s tariffs on imports from China, which are taxes on U.S. consumers and companies. An aide later asserted the former vice president “would reevaluate the tariffs upon taking office.” A Gallup poll in February 2020 detected positive views of Americans toward international trade, with 79% viewing trade as “an opportunity for economic growth,” while only 18% considered trade a “threat.” (Note: The article has been updated to reflect the Biden aide’s statement.)
Biden’s comments on tariffs came during an exchange with Lulu Garcia-Navarro, who hosts Weekend Edition Sunday and is a host of National Public Radio’s (NPR) morning news podcast Up First.
“Some have said Trump’s stance is a good one to counter China’s influence,” said Garcia-Navarro. “Would you keep the tariffs?”
“No. Hey, look, who said Trump’s idea’s a good one?” said Biden. “Manufacturing has gone into a recession. Agriculture lost billions of dollars that taxpayers had to pay.”
Biden laid out a multilateral approach to dealing with China’s trade practices and criticized the Trump administration’s unilateral approach.
“We’re going after China in the wrong way,” he said. “China is stealing intellectual property. China is conditioning being able to do business in China based on whether or not you have 51% Chinese ownership. That’s got to end. I spent a fair amount of time when I was vice president with President Xi because the president wanted me to get to know him. He’s no democrat with a small ‘d’ at all.”
Garcia-Navarro asked, “If you scrap those tariffs, what do you want in return, or are you just going to scrap them without any concessions?”
“No, no, here’s the deal,” said Biden, who questioned the premise. “The question is what is the appropriate behavior that they have to engage in international relations, in international trade with us, and they have to play by the international rules. And what we have done is we have disarmed ourselves.”

Rudy G. has it on tape, with Hunter admitting directly, that he is working as a lawyer for the head of the Chinese Communist Party spy agency. And Hunter does not see this as a serious security problem? And Joe knew everything that Hunter was doing.

All right this is disgusting somehow, but Malia Obama and Hunter Biden used cocaine together and had sex, there is strong evidence for this. Malia’s credit card was used to cut the cocaine.
But people do have sex, and that’s all legal. I assume Malia was 18 or over. The dates of the events are available, but I haven’t checked. Cocaine is illegal, and that’s a problem. But Malia and Hunter do cocaine with others too, so it may not be relevant to this particular event. Still, this bothers me.

How many agreements have China made and thereafter unilaterally changed Moron Biden. Firstly, we need to clear up Hunter’s, your brothers and your financial interest in China before any moves towards China are made if you win the Presidency.
Besides, you speak so passionately about the 200,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19. Where did the viral disease originate? Wuhan China! Who kicked out Western Journalists and put a lockdown on information about it for months to keep it quiet? China Who was a coconspirator with China to keep it quiet? During the unknow epidemic what country kept sending it’s Nationals to the USA knowing full well that many might be infected with the COVID-19? China! Who stopped this human traffic with a travel ban? President Trump Who condemned the travel ban and called it xenophobic and unnecessary? Biden Who geared up private industry to convert over to produce masks, ventilators, had the US Navy set up Emergency Hospital and met the full needs of New Yorkers because of the shortsightedness of New York Officials? President Trump. Did China go to shut down lock down mode during this Pandemic? NO. They went into an expansionist mode. They were the address for the cause of the Pandemic yet profited from Pandemic and Joe Biden wants to lift sanctions. Joe do you remember why the tariffs came into existence. Answer this question? Trump renotiated the Sino-American Economic Treaty so they wouldn’t be taking us to the bank every which way. Afterwards, China had buyers remorse. They started to break the treaty in practice. This is when the President imposed the tariffs. Plus they’ve never taken responsibility for the COVID-19 Pandemic, offered financial reimbursement to the West including the USA, nor offered condolences to the 200,000 dead in the USA after their negligence in reporting the outbreak as soon as they knew about it.
Biden you have a bought and paid for vested interest in China and should not have any decision making power regarding issues pertaining to this country.

Notice Biden did not really answer that question and instead blathered a bunch of crap that didn’t have any specifics or any way to determine what effect his make-believe statement would be of any benefit to America. Biden and many other Dems use this tactic but I believe Americans have begun to recognize this and won’t fall for it any more.

A lot of people probably do not know this, but prior to the income tax, the government was funded completely by tariffs. Somewhere along the line, the burden of paying for the government was shifted to the people, not the businesses paying the tariffs. If foreign governments want to flood out markets with their goods, let them pay for the privilege. Joe Biden is obviously under the thumb or the Chinese Communist party to want to end the tariffs. I can not thnik of any other reason he would want to end them, other than to be contrary to Trump.
