Trump Says Schools Teaching NY Times’ 1619 Project ‘Will Not Be Funded’

Story continues below advertisementPresident Donald Trump on Sunday warned the Department of Education is investigating the use of the New York Times’ “1619 Project” in schools, saying that institutions that use the alternative narrative of U.S. history could lose federal funding.
The “1619 Project,” created by Nikole Hannah-Jones and widely panned by historians and political scientists, attempts to cast the Atlantic slave trade as the dominant factor in the founding of America instead of ideals such as individual liberty and natural rights. Some critics have said that it is an attempt to rewrite U.S. history through a left-wing lens. Some historians have criticized the project over inaccuracies such as the American Revolution having been fought to preserve the institution of slavery rather than for seeking independence from Britain.
“Department of Education is looking at this. If so, they will not be funded!” Trump wrote on Twitter Sunday, responding to a post that said California has “implemented the 1619 project into the public schools,” and that “soon you won’t recognize [A]merica.” California’s Department of Education came up with a draft model last month to include some of the project in history classes.
It echoes the sentiment of a bill that was proposed by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) introduced in July that proposes denying funds to a school that uses the 1619 Project. Schools in places like Washington D.C. and Chicago have modified their curriculum for the project.
Controversy erupted earlier this year when a professor at Northwestern University who helped fact-check the project said that she alerted Hannah-Jones about inaccuracies contained in the project but got no response.
“On August 19 of last year I listened in stunned silence as Nikole Hannah-Jones, a reporter for the New York Times, repeated an idea that I had vigorously argued against,” wrote professor Leslie Harris in Politico. Harris also said she “vigorously disputed” the claim that protecting slavery was a major reason why the American Revolution was fought.

The refusal to think is the true Original Sin, though not in a mystical sense. However, we always have to do our very best to explain, rationally, to other human beings that what particular pernicious nonsense they have bought into is false and destructive. If they refuse to recognize that — if they refuse to THINK and continue to just fulminate over hyper-emotional fantasies about the likes of Che Guevara and the 1619 Project — and against all our best efforts they vote into positions of power over us politicians who share their evil delusions, then we need to look to ways to defend our freedom and our very lives because it ain’t gonna fix itself, folks, and wishing won’t make it go away.

If they’re that hardened in their hatred of America as you say – and especially if they’re among those participating in these anti-American riots and destruction – they should never be allowed to vote. Period. It’s not enough, although I agree with it, that one Republican politician has proposed eliminating unemployment benefits for these literal moochers and looters. These monsters have the very real potential to CANCEL OUT the votes of patriotic Americans who truly care about what’s at stake.

Your story is truly frightening and disturbing. For a long time Many, including myself, have been calling the public school system indoctrination centers.
For a very long time many have been wanting schools to get back to the basics like the reading, writing and math that helps prepare kids for continuing education. Seems like it’s been a top priority to start telling little children that a boy may really be a girl and vise versa, all a result of the left agenda to make homosexuality normal in this society.
The schools also attack the institution of family, as well as kicking God out of schools, yet letting every other so called religious doctrine (like islam) be openly taught. The president has taken a first step in the right direction but needs to totally attack what schools have become. Indoctrination centers.
It truly is an attempt to rewrite U.S. history through a left-wing lens. We are seeing the results of what the education system has been turning out for decades on the streets of Portland and other cities.

This is what I mean by proselytizers for the LGBTQ+ lifestyle in our schools out to convert kids to homosexuality and transgenderism. I’ve always said that the drive to increase their numbers by conversion, recruitment and grooming, besides that “community” being 100% dependent on it (that is, they cannot reproduce naturally), is also for political purposes: The more there are of them, the greater their political representation, and thus the more that pro-family, pro-children, pro-morality voices are increasingly marginalized, diluted, eroded, usurped, cancelled and drowned out, overwhelmed, outnumbered, displaced, dispossessed, disenfranchised and silenced – not to mention what little influence conservative pro-family groups have on social policy totally shattered. It’s why the likes of Scott Wiener can pollute California’s legislature while pro-family groups have the door slammed in their face.
It is of the same piece as CAIR, ISNA and others lobbying for more Muslim immigration to this country (and encouraging them to outbreed the native populations of their host countries), as a bid to smash what they perceive as Jewish influence on Middle East policy.

In the prescient novel, 1984, George Orwell wrote, “Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”
It can also be said, he who educates our children controls the future. Right now, the radical Left has a stranglehold on our education system. That needs to be corrected.
No country can survive the inculcation of its youth in the hatred of their own country. What they are doing is treason.
All Marxist teachers and professors must be extirpated from the education system and sent to a penal colony to serve a life sentence for their capital crimes against our great Nation.

There are two types of history going around. One type of history is the true, real, actual, and factual history. Then there is phony, false rewritten history, often presented as if it were true. A couple of examples of false, phony, rewritten history include this 1619 Project and a false rewritten history of a Palestinian people having a history going back to Old Testament Times in the land of Israel.

For perspective, check your own school experiences. Ever notice the IT (information technology) textbooks were all brand new or fairly new? That is because computer technology makes such rapid advances.
Ever notice your history text was well worn from use year after year? That is because the story never changes, thus the name history.

Didn’t see it, James…
…but I have had so many similar experiences that I now compose and save all comments and responses in my text writing app first, and then copy it to the Disqus box. (Or at least copy & paste it into your clipboard before you submit it.) I highly recommend that method, for Disqus as well as any other censor-prone format.The first time you instantly restore your message, you will feel positively exuberant, I guarantee it!
