Oregon Republican Lawmakers React to Arrest of Dem House Speaker’s Aide in Portland Riots

By Mairead McArdle, National Review, September 14, 2020:

Republicans in the Oregon legislature are accusing Democrats of sanctioning “lawlessness” after the arrest of a top aide to the Democratic Oregon House speaker this month during protests that devolved into riots in downtown Portland.

Kristina Narayan, who serves as legislative director for Oregon House Speaker Representative Tina Kotek, was arrested late at night on Saturday, September 5 and charged with interfering with a police officer after Portland Police declared a riot.

“Kristina Narayan was arrested for Interfering with a Police Officer after the event became a riot and the crowd was given multiple orders to disperse, which she did not do,” a Portland police department spokesperson said.

Narayan, 29, has worked for Kotek since September, 2016 and has served as the House speaker’s legislative director since May, 2018, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Republican state lawmakers in Oregon criticized their colleagues across the aisle for declining to denounce the ongoing nightly violence wracking Portland, and accused Democratic lawmakers of protecting their staffers and supporters who participate in the riots.

“The Democrat supermajority in Oregon have had instances where their publicly-employed staff have been involved in the violent riots and looting in downtown Portland,” said GOP state Senator Dennis Linthicum, who represents the southeast city of Klamath Falls.

“Knowing this, it becomes obvious why Democrats in Oregon and across the nation have not stood up for law enforcement and condemned the lawlessness in the streets because within these Democrat-controlled cities — they would be alienating their own staff members who are participating in the riots,” Linthicum said.

Republican Oregon Senator Alan Olsen agreed, adding that Democratic lawmakers in the state “despise” the very police protecting them.

“Oregon Democrats are the party of lawlessness because instead of denouncing the violence, they largely have remained silent. The top Democrat leaders are protected by the police but despise and have absolute animosity towards them,” said Olsen, who represents Canby, a city just south of Portland.

“It’s obvious that Oregon Democrats are protecting their own extremist staffers and supporters over innocent Oregonians who are the collateral damage of over 100 days of violence,” Olsen added.

Narayan’s arrest came a week after pro-Trump demonstrator Aaron Danielson was fatally shot in the chest during clashes between Black Lives Matter protesters and a caravan of pro-Trump demonstrators who drove through the streets of downtown Portland. Two days later, Portland Police declared a riot after about 200 demonstrators marched to Mayor Ted Wheeler’s residence to demand that he resign as violent demonstrations continue to rock the city.

Kotek’s office did not respond to a request for comment.

The very people that voted in these (D) politicians are the ones impacted the most by the rioting.
And they’ll keep doing it, too. Fools.
The politicians are protected, but their loyal voters are not.

Professors nationwide offer assistance, advice, and support to Antifa-like rioters
By Lacey Kestecher

(ANTIFA, BLM and other terrorist organizations welcome them on campus and social media sees their ommentary NOT in violaton of their Marxist “community standards.”)

Protests in cities across the country turned violent in recent days after an unarmed black man in police custody died in Minnesota. College professors have since voiced their support for the rioters setting fire to buildings, smashing windows, and defacing monuments.

As riots ravage the country, university professors have taken to the media and their Twitter accounts to voice their opinions, many of them in support of or at least sympathetic to rioters setting businesses ablaze weeks into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

Professors have been using their platforms to promote and justify the violence which is currently destroying cities and livelihoods.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that Kitty Eisele, whose Twitter bio says she is a Georgetown University professor and NPR editor, wrote and later deleted a tweet hinting at her hopes that the rioters would destroy the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. The hotel is housed in the Old Post Office Building, which is owned by the federal government but leased by the Trump Organization. Completed in 1899, the building is included in the National Register of Historic Places.

Steven Thrasher, assistant professor of journalism and the head chair of social justice reporting at Northwestern University, praised the destruction of cities as a “very proportionate response to what’s happening” in an NPR interview. He claims that “people who don’t agree with it will say it’s a terrible thing that a business has been burned, as if property is more important than life.”

Jenn M. Jackson, an assistant professor of political science at Syracuse University, took to Twitter to claim that the police officer profession is rooted in racism.

Tressie McMillan Cottom, associate professor of sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University and a faculty affiliate at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society, encouraged her academic colleagues to “ask your students if they will share their info with you so you can bail them out if need be.

University of Michigan Associate Professor Sarita Schoenebeck expressed her support for Cottom’s “good idea.”

Sarah Parcak, a professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, wrote a Twitter thread on “how to pull down an obelisk safely.” She said the procedures “might come in handy” for those trying to remove “racist monuments.”

Cornel West, Harvard University philosophy professor, spoke about America as a “failed social experiment” in an interview with CNN.

He claimed that Trump is a “neo-fascist gangster” and that “white supremacy is going to be around for a long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long time.” Since “black politicians…become too accommodated to the capitalist economy” when in power, America must look to get rid of its capitalist system.

What will the Oregon electorate do in November? Why, hug a tree!

Hi, the Prester John myth. I’m knowledgeable about that. I know about the Orient. I’ve learnt their language at university.

There won’t be any trees to hug by November. Antifa has started fires throughout Oregon, thousands of homes and businesses burned to the ground, over 1 million acres of forest destroyed, over 30 lives lost and many still missing. After burning, they began looting the homes that weren’t burned in the neighborhoods that were torched – 8 looters already arrested – and yes, they’re being held. It is no longer a case of arson for Antifa, it’s MURDER and yes, they will be held, and tried. They are TERRORISTS of the worst kind because they call themselves Americans!!
