McEnany defends President Trump after twisted claims about Trump’s coronavirus response in Woodward book

16

It will be like this every day until the election. Rat-a-tat-tat. They fire off as many rounds as there are days in the election cycle – hoping something hits.

Another vicious hit piece from the enemy press against President Trump. This time it comes from Bob Woodward of the Washington Post. The MSM will stop at nothing to get Joe Biden elected, so expect these smear campaigns to continue until election day. In the interim, we don’t have any indication as to when the Durham Report will be released. In fact, at this point, one has to wonder if the Durham Report will ever be released to the public? It’s a joke. Perhaps America has a two tiered justice system. One for the Liberal elites and one for everyone else.

McEnany defends Trump after Woodward book claims he said coronavirus ‘deadly,’ despite publicly downplaying it

By Fox News, September 9, 2020

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended President Trump on Wednesday after a book by journalist Bob Woodward claimed Trump said he knew the coronavirus was “deadly” but went to great lengths to downplay the virus in public.

“When you are facing insurmountable challenges, it is important to express confidence, it is important to express calm,” McEnany told reporters in a briefing from the White House.

“He makes clear that he doesn’t want to see chaos, by the way, which is the second part of the quote which you failed to read,” she continued, addressing a reporter who had read part of the quote.

“The president just days after having this discussion with Bob Woodward, said this from this podium, on March 30, he said, ‘I do want them to stay calm, we are doing a great job, if you look at the individual statements they are all true, stay calm, it will go away but it’s important to stay calm,’” the press secretary said. “So this president does what leaders do — good leaders — it’s stay calm and resolute at a time when you face an insurmountable challenge.”

According to Woodward, as recounted in The Washington Post, the president received a warning from national security adviser Robert O’Brien on Jan. 28 that the coronavirus epidemic would be the “biggest national security threat” of his presidency.

“The president reportedly told Woodward in a Feb. 7 call, ‘You just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed. And so, that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flu,’” The Post reported.

“This is deadly stuff,” the president added.

But on Feb. 26, Trump told Americans that coronavirus is “like a flu.”

“This is a flu. This is like a flu,” the president said in a briefing. “It’s a little like a regular flu that we have flu shots for. And we’ll essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner.”

The quotes came from recordings from Woodward conversations with Trump available on the Post’s website. On why Trump sat down with Woodward, McEnany said Wednesday it was because he has been the “most transparent president in history.”

Trump on March 19 told Woodward, “I wanted to always play it down.” He had declared a national emergency over the virus days earlier, but also said, “I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.”

Woodward sunk Nixon almost 50 years ago, and now he’s going to sink Trump too.

When President Nixon even hinted about “weaponizing” the IRS, his Treasury Secretary refused and told him that he shouldn’t do so. When obimbo weaponized the IRS, the Treasury Secretary and the Commissioner of the IRS jumped at the chance. Inspector General’s report made criminal referrals … the obimbo’s AG refused to pursue. When obimbo weaponized the FBI, criminal referrals were made, but NOTHING was done.

Totally different. Nixon was as pure as the driven snow, when compared to obimbo.

Thanks for that rambling tirade that had nothing to do with my post.

That, little PRETEND engineer was not a “rambling tirade”. You referenced former President Nixon, who was an honorable man. I referenced obimbo, the lowest piece of drek, homosexual thief and traitor that the world has ever seen.

Of course, you being FAR too poorly educated to become a real engineer, are FAR too stupid to understand that.

You poor, poor little thing. I truly pity you.

That, I do not know. One day, it just showed up and commenced HUMILIATING itself.

However, it is SO much fun laughing at it, when it does so (HUMILIATES itself).

Not so fast! The congressional impeachment committee sunk Nixon, not Woodward.

You can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other and see which one gets full the fastest, can’t you?

Agreed. If you recall, Bush 43 kept his calm on 9/11/01 when he was advised we were under attack while he was reading to an elementary school class.

When will Republicans learn not to give DemoNazis any access? It is repeating the same mistake over and over.

This is a law: Anything you say to them will be twisted and used against you in the court of public opinion. That’s what they do.

Wake up.

Trump downplayed it to avoid panic. Big deal. What difference did it make, anyway?

For Trump to limit his remarks about the coronavirus was exactly the right thing to do. We had a stabbing in the local Sam’s Club over some piece of merchandise, the entire inventory not being worth dying for.

There are historical precedents, FDR during WWII and the rationing of almost everything including food and fuel, and Carter and the fights that broke out in gas lines over fuel shortages during the Arab Oil Embargo in the ’70s.
