Cops suspect NYPD patrol car sabotaged — brake line apparently cut

Two Brooklyn cops got a scare when they found the brake line on their patrol car had apparently been cut, police sources said Monday.
Story continues below advertisementThe officers were on patrol in East New York Saturday when they heard a pop coming from the front of their car.
They were able to stop the car safely near Linden Blvd. and Van Siclen Ave. and found a cloth wrapped around an axle, with brake fluid leaking from a hose.
Supervisors were called to the scene, the car was taken off the streets and a probe was launched. Investigators suspect the car was tampered with by saboteurs…….

It has then gone on to try to improve the designs, increasing ranges and precision.

Hi Felix: Thanks for this. Please don’t believe that story, it’s crap. JPost is usually good, and Pamela has published there, but Reuters did a horrible job on the snap-back story. JPost just summarized the Reuters story. The story contains multiple egregious errors, omissions, and snarky editorializing about Trump.
For example: “Iran has circled the wagons and brought in the Russians, China, Turkey, the EU and many other countries to oppose the US attempts to put more sanctions on. ” [But there are NO wagons to circle!]
Russia, China, and Iran cannot effectively oppose the snap-back, because it’s done by Trump’s Executive Order, just done today. China tried to bypass Trump’s oil sanctions on Iran, but eventually gave up on Iranian oil, when all the Chinese oil carriers were faced with the prevention of access to US sea ports for all their business.
Trump is tough, and he knows how to make things stick. Here’s his EO:

If they are caught, so what. They will be released within the hour, no bail needs to be posted, and they will never willingly show up in court. Great going de Blasio! Should this happen to Cuomo or de Blasio, I’m certain it would be a long time before the felon will see daylight.

Malicious act of sabotage, and clear premeditated attempt at murder! Another animal emerged to attempt assassination of Law-Enforcement Officers. Yet another vicious assault on civil lawful society!
Acts of violence against law-abiding citizenry.
Such when tried and judged and sentenced, without appeal, should be publicly executed — and painfully so. (The savage animals don’t deserve painless death of an innocent dog, gently put-to-sleep!)

So….they not only hope to kill the officers……they will consider any person….group of persons….children or groups of children that the officers could plow into when they can’t break…..as a “win.”

Good idea to check the brakes when starting out. Ironically I still sometimes have bad dreams about the brakes failing on my former cars 🙂
Especially dangerous on police vehicles since they often have to accelerate and drive at high speeds on short notice.
